The Spread Eagle is a gem in the heart of Midhurst. Lovely rooms with great care and attention to detail. Lovely pool and spa area. Wonderful food - Also special mention of their excellent Breakfasts. Staff always go out of their way to help and are all lovely. Special thank you to all the reception staff and Jane who were of such help with our stay this time. Great walks and Cowdray Park on your doorstep.

As a group of 5 friends, we had an exceptional time at our afternoon and evening spa. The pool, sauna, steam and jacuzzi were clean and tidy and there were plenty of seats both inside and outside. The showers and changing area were snug but very clean, and timings for treatments were off-set with other guests to make sure the spa and changing rooms maintained a peaceful atmosphere and did not feel over-crowded. The treatments themselves were lovely; Abi gave the best back, neck and shoulder massage, thank you. We had a warm welcome when we arrived at the restaurant and the staff were discreet but good fun and very generous. The menu was varied and the food delicious. We will certainly be back; thank you all again for a wonderful day.

This was my first experience of this hotel and I will definitely be back. Whatever I say won't truly reflect our experience. The people were so friendly and helpful making us feel at home as soon as we set foot in the hotel. The food was superb and served with grace. The massage we had booked was extremely well done and I wish I had booked one more. The only issue and this isn't the hotel's fault, is that we stayed in a room opposite the entrance to a local pub. The crowd wasn't noisy at all, but they collected the rubbish the next morning and that was incredibly noisy. When we go again, I will make sure we don't stay overnight when the bins are due!

The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa is absolutely beautiful, certainly a place I will recommend to others and what a beautiful County West Sussex is.

From the moment we arrived at this restaurant/hotel we were made to feel very welcome. We were greeted most convivially by a young Hungarian member of staff who showed us to a well presented table in the main dining room. The first thing I wanted to do was wash my hands and I was shown where the toilets were which were very well appointed. They were extremely clean and equipped with good hand wash and proper hand towels. Call me easy to impress and old fashioned but I always think things like that make a difference. We ordered our respective lunches, each of us opting for the main course and a dessert. I went for the fish cake with a vanilla mousse to follow. My companions had various things all of which looked delicious. I was assured that they were. To round things off I had a large espresso. I find it's surprisingly easy to get a simple thing like espresso wrong but on this occasion I have to say it was spot on. Including service charges, the whole thing came to £30 each which I thought was very reasonable considering the high level of service and quality of the food. I am given to understand that this "family" of hotels has three more in Sussex and I look forward to trying the others.

Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Midhurst. The staff were amazing throughout and made us feel very welcome. Room was lovely, with tea and coffee making facilities, fresh biscuits, beautiful bathroom and lovely toiletries. Had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food and service was excellent. Used the pool twice which was so quiet and a lovely place to relax. Would love to come back at Christmas - especially to experience the bar in winter and what looked like an amazing log fire

The reception staff were fantastic - I loved their friendly, welcoming, casual style that put us at ease - but at the same time extremely efficient. When we realised that the fan in our room didn't work, the reception staff quickly replaced it with no issue. We had a classic room, which was comfortable. The hotel bar is a fantastic location for an evening drink - full of old world charm. The breakfast had a good selection and it was nice to have the option of having it either in the dining room or on the outdoor patio. The spa facilities were great - the pool is a little on the small side, but completely adequate. Great sauna and steam rooms too. We will definitely be coming back!

We first stayed 41 years ago on our honeymoon, in the Queen's suite. We returned 10 years later then last year for our Ruby anniversary. This year we were upgraded to the Queen's suite and it is as romantic and gorgeous as ever. Obviously updated but beautifully done out with soft bedding, sofas, immaculately clean and lots of goodies. The dining room is still excellent, serving delicious food and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Wish we lived nearer, but we hope to continue our annual stays and also pop in when passing for coffees etc. Well done all at the Spread Eagle.
