First impression is lobby was attractive and spacious. Staff was friendly and attentive. Room: upon entry, could smell smoke mixed with some sort of musty smell. Turned on air and hoped it would clear the room of the smell (since we were heading out anyway). Spoiler: it did not. Room had only one light switch, which turned on a dim light in kitchenette area. No other lights in room other than lamps, which all had different types of switches. A little knitpick, but first time turning on lights was such a hassle in a hotel room. Room was in bad shape: sofa was ripped up, doors off hinges, broken bathroom lock, strange stains on mattress, roller shades, and ironing board. Started looking closer and found hairs on mattress and dirty utencils (which we did not use anyway). Gave 2 stars because despite all that, the sheets were clean, and I was able to sleep pretty well. Breakfast: we went at 8am (offered 7-10 I believe). Was crowded with soccer teams, however, when they left, it was still hard to find seating due to there only being a handfull of tables available. Considering the hotel was booked, you would have thought there would be more tables put out. Layout of buffet was a bit odd as it had the plates and cutlery in the centre of the food lineup, rather than on either end, causing people to go back and forth rather than in an orderly fashion, which was made worse by the location of the bar seat area. There was no cream available for coffee other than small coffeemate creamers (which I prefer not to use due to ingredients). This is the first hotel that didn't even have any upon request. Other than those issues, the food was good, had good variety (standard options), although they were awkward to get at. The trays were tight, the tongs couldn't fit into slot properly causing people to drop their eggs, patty, etc At breakfast, my daughter sat on a chair, only to discover it was wet. It looked like a coffee stain. I brought the chair to the front desk and told a staff member that it was wet. A minute later, my daughter tells me the man at front desk put it back saying he had no room for it. I stopped a lady from sitting on it, and went up to another staff member and asked her to at least put a sign on it. Waited over 15 minutes, and then just asked front desk for a pen and quickly made a sign out of a napkin. The stain was still on it, so they didn't even clean it. I am a Hilton Honors member, staying at various hotels in Can and USA, big cities, and small towns. I have never encountered a hotel in this state.. and to learn that the hotel is only 7 years old is gross! I would never stay there again. Maybe make the drive to Mississauga or Oakville to have more hotel choices.
