Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale SW/Miramar

Residence Inn is a good one for business travellers. It has nice, spacious rooms with a kitchen, especially effective for long stay. The hotel staffs are warm and courteous. There is a small market in the lobby where you buy essential stuff. The hotel also has a swimming pool. The hotel has free breakfast with accomodation. But I wish they would bring some variation to the menu! One small issue I would like to address is that there are tiny pests in the kitchen and that should be taken care of. Otherwise there might be a risk when you are cooking or cutting veggies on the kitchen top. Otherwise I had a nice stay. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

Staff are great! Guests are not. Noisy (slamming doors, loud conversations, no consideration) and constant cigarette smoke being brought in by the air conditioning. Typical Residence Inn. Supposedly refurbished; however, bathtub ceramic coating missing/worn in some of the rooms. Rooms are separate from the Lobby area. Access through the doors is difficult with bags/baggage trolley. Sliding door would be great. One can dream... Easy access to I-75. Dining/grocery stores nearby. Wash/dry: USD $2.00 Parking: Adequate. Use caution parking under trees due to sap/bird droppings. Entertainment: Loads of channels...except FOX News. Fox News is listed on the channel guide, but FOX Business is what is broadcast. All the "MSM news" is listed, and broadcast...CNN, HLN, MSNBC, CNBC, etc. About four movie channels and Network broadcasts (CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS). Fortunately, I don't view any of it. Amenities: The "usual" dishes, cutlery, other utensils (some items missing). Non-stick pots/pans not provided as with other properties. Expect to scrub...hard. Microwave, toaster, coffee maker. This is one of several trips made to this area. Still trying to find "the perfect" accommodation.

Had to wait for room to be cleaned (3:30pm). Directions given for local restaurant were incorrect. Lock on door didn’t work. No toiletries except soap. Nice room but nothing “special “ about it. Comfy bed. High bathtub. Wish there was a shower.

A great hotel with outstanding service! This our second visit to The property for our annual family reunion. The property is clean and is conveniently located for shopping and dining in the area. We booked the 1 bedroom suite and enjoyed the full kitchen and amenities. There is a short drive to Miami so I will always chose this hotel.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times but this time will be the last. Yesterday I went there for a 1 night stay as I was connecting. I was tired and it was raining, the lady asked if I wanted a higher or lower floor I said higher (I had high hopes) got to my room went to the bathroom everything seemed fine, went to the refrigerator noticed a small hair I sigh and kept it moving. Turned on the shower because I got wet in the rain, stepped in the tube water was LUKEWARM!!! Looked on the wall and there was the same small hairs on the shower wall that was in the refrigerator which meant they cleaned the fridge with the clothe they cleaned the bathroom or vice versa. At this point I had been up since 3 am I could not bother asking for another room. Looked down saw a hair on the bottom of the toilet (I will upload photos). Got in bed under the thin comforter only to start sweating because the ac can’t go below 70!! It says 64 but they control it at the front desk and stop it at 70. Called them and said hey turn down my ac please, they did and at 515 it went back to 70 at that point I got up and started the day. Went out came back and the POWER WAS OUT!!! Walked to the front desk to ascertain what was going on because I had a flight to catch only to be told they do not have a backup generator!!! Imagine a hotel, in a hurricane prone area with NO GENERATOR!!! This was wild!! Thankfully the electricity came back on while I was at the front desk, the elevators were still down so I made the long trek up to the 5th floor. I’m so over this place. First off who goes to a hotel where the temperature is set at 70 in the tropics!!! And if you don’t know better the thermostat goes down but the room is hot!!! This is not only deceptive but I’m SURE Marriott would not approve. Save yourself the hassle stay at Courtyard next door. This place is rundown and I’m guessing they don’t care because most persons there are long term but don’t they deserve the best too!!! SMH

My stay was perfect until I had to deal with the receptionist that works at the front desk at night , he’s very rude . Marriot need to think about placing him in a position not dealing directly with the customers . The staff in the daytime are very nice and professional .

We were very disappointed by the renovations at the Residence Inn. The walls are dark grey, the carpet in the hallway is also dark. Furniture in the rooms are also very dark. The bathtubs have been replaced by a standing shower, so there is no lower faucet which comes in handy sometimes. Shower head is very high up and cannot be adjusted. They have even removed the timepiece from the nightstand. The mirror has backlighting and the reflection casts shadows which makes it difficult to put on makeup properly and makes your face look unrecognizable. The outside of the hotel was also being painted in dark and dreary colors. The coffee is horrible, bring your own milk if you drink whole milk, it is not available. Not the kind of environment that is conducive to a home away from home feeling. We used to enjoy our stay at the Marriott properties, but that has changed.
