We had our annual family meal at the Hillgrove for a group of 35, the food was absolutely fabulous and the waiting staff were extremely helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a really busy night in the hotel but this definitely did not impact standards, we had fab food and service.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely lad on Reception youngish lad with a goatee, very friendly and welcoming. We arrived late with my 89 year old Dad. They had a Wedding or function on that night. The noise was horrendous, kids screaming and roaring, and slamming doors until 230 am. I reluctantly rang and complained to Night Porter. Parents were in the Bar getting drunk. I had one Pint of Guinness after we checked in. Without doubt, the WORST Pint of Guinness I ever had. At €6.20c a Pint, nothing cheap about it either. Breakfast was fine, a good range to cater for all tastes. The only bad thing was the Bacon...it was like rubber,both days totally inedible. Sausages were lovely. Night Porter, a stocky Foreign Chap, very pleasant and helpful, a major asset to your Hotel. Overall a great stay. A tip for Management: Put Guests with an elderly relative in a quiet part of Hotel, not in the middle of ignorant Parents, who could not care less about the kids they have and let them run riot.

The Hillgrove Hotel hosted our staff Christmas Party. The consensus from staff was it was a great night. The food and service was top class, credit to all your staff's hard work on the night to attend to such a huge crowd of people. The band was great and enjoyed by all.

The spa experience was out of this world, I highly recommend it. Agnes made my experience unforgettable and remarkable. I went for a 2night stay. Breakfast and dinner was also really good. I’m definitely booking again soon and bringing a friend with me to experience what I experienced.

We held our Christmas party here for our staff and the evening was fantastic. We had a beautiful meal and the DJ after was great. The Hillgrove staff were fantastic in looking after us and with the storm due to hit late that night they accommodated us in bringing everything forward so our staff could travel safely. A special mention to Sorcha who was very attentive. Some of our staff stayed over and the reviews we received on Monday morning was a very happy team. Thanks Hillgrove for your hospitality.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. Looking forward to a night away and spa treatments. The spa is terrible! The steam room wasn't working, so we used the one in the pool. All the tiles were falling off, infact there was a pile of tiles were other people had put them. My husband and I both got treatment. Him a body scrub and I a full body massage. I had ticked the form pressure box on my consultation form. It had felt I was being tickled also using way more than enough oil. I asked 3 times for more pressure. Worst massage I have ever experienced! Dinner was nice in the bar but on booking my husband had booked the restaurant. Arrived at the restaurant to be told that it's booked for a special event. One table of about 15/20 people. The next morning I had booked for a facial and went back to the spa. My facial was terrible, the worst I've ever gotten. Same lady and again too much product, tickled, stopping and starting, making lots of loud noises. After this I complained. No manager on that day . Bill had already been sent to reservation. Went to pay on departure. Explained to front desk and was told no manager that we would have to pay and someone would be in contact. Over the next few weeks/months. We have rang several times. And always told no manager. I honestly have given up. Not even an apology. I have never complained about anything but I felt other people should read this before booking. Especially the spa! First ever time leaving any sort of review too! Feeling very unsatisfied and disappointed!

My wife and I recently attended a family wedding here and and stayed the night. The Hillgrove is an amazing place for weddings. The catering was absolutely fantastic. Just a thought though, as my wife is a vegetarian, it would have been an improvement if she could have had a mushroom vol au vent instead of slices of melon while the rest of us had chicken vol au vent. This cold option isn't great in December. Our room was excellent; really spacious with even had a lovely comfy couch. Everything was pristine clean and fresh. The bathroom, which was also spacious, had a dual head shower over the bath. Breakfast was all you could want with a wide and varied range of foods. The spa and leisure suite looked fantastic and while we had every good intention of availing of the pool, we chose to give it a miss this time. We have had lunch in the bar here many times before and always had a good experience. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. Carparking was nearby with lots of Disabled spaces.

I will not come back again
Hotel clean but old and refurbished a lot. Disappointed that fitness club and swimming pool are closing at 20:00 despite information in guestbook in room mentioned till 21:30.
