Hotel Villa Edera & la Torretta

We had a lovely week at Villa Edera. Such a beautiful setting right by the pretty town of Moneglia and its beach. A perfect setting for walking and visiting the Cinque Terre. The hotel is a master class in customer service; the staff were brilliant. The garden areas are so pretty with fruit trees, olive trees, a vine arch and the kitchen garden. The breakfasts were plentiful and fresh food. The wine tasting on offer is a lovely touch. I’d love to still be there!

We were lucky enough to stay for 5-nights while doing day walks on the beautiful the Cinque Terre trails. Hotel is an ideal base, just five minutes walk from the railway station and a few minutes from the town and beach. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, and service throughout was friendly and efficient. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool give a real sense of tranquility. We ate in both Orto the Michelin starred restaurant and also the Bistro, and we thought the food in both was truly delicious. Moneglia itself is a lovely beachside town with sandy beach and good range of bars, restaurants and shops. Definitely our go to choice for future trips to the area.

This was my third stay at Villa Edera, and as always, it was wonderful! The staff is so friendly, the rooms are clean, spacious, and tranquil, and the food/cocktails/wine selections are fantastic. I love this hotel! The rooms are spacious, clean, and so comfortable. I appreciate the attention to detail, the views from the rooms, as well as how comfy and cozy the rooms feel. The entire staff was extremely helpful in communicating nearby activities - from easy hikes to beach days and boat excursions; their full concierge service was amazing! Both the Michelin experience and the Bistro are phenomenal. The ingredients are high-quality and hyper-local, catering to what is best of the season. I highly, highly recommend dining at Villa Edera.

What a lovely place! Great location, fantastic food, terrific staff! Sadly, we stayed for only one night. Had I done my research properly, I would have known this area deserves at least two nights, if not more. That being said, the tips provided by the staff (a former tour guide herself) were instrumental in making the most of our visit to Cinque Terre. Add to that the superb location of the hotel just above the train station, where the train to all the villages in Cinque Terre stops, and you can't go wrong. Unfortunately, the fine dining restaurant was closed on the evening of our visit. Luckily, during the summer months, the staff of said restaurant offer a "casual" BBQ-themed dinner on Tuesday evenings instead. The food was terrific; just calling it BBQ would be a huge understatement. The dishes were flavorful, nicely presented, and accompanied by some great wines that the sommelier recommended. I would gladly come back for that dinner alone next time! Due to our short visit, we didn't get a chance to enjoy all the rest the hotel has to offer. Another reason to return. As the cherry on top, I told the staff my wife and I were cooking for some friends in Tuscany that weekend and that we still needed to buy some sage. At check-out, we were presented with a fantastic package of freshly plucked sage from their own garden, true hospitality. I look forward to being back one day!

Luxury family hotel well located for exploring the Cinque Terre. Knowledgeable and attentive staff, exceptional breakfasts with locally sourced ingredients. Eating dinner on the terrace in the evenings was a highlight. Pool immaculate. Lots of stunning walks on doorstep.

Sadly our visit seems to have been quite different to most reviewers. The fabric of the hotel and its position is lovely. Plus the female staff who served breakfast were lovely and friendly. Sadly none of the management / front desk staff were. We were not with InnTravel, but had booked directly with the hotel. At one stage we asked if they had a walking trail map, only to be greeted by puzzlement as to what a walking map was ! Another time we enquired about train problems for our final day, as there had been strikes / work on the line all week. The receptionist expressed amazement at this request ! Yes, there is a handy lift by the station to get to the hotel, but no - one bothered to tell us this in a pre arrival email. Another delightful British couple in their 80s were also experiencing these issues on a daily basis. And then when we did leave, having paid the bill ( all money going to the hotel, none to InnTravel or a booking company ), they did not even look up to say goodbye as we left or ask about our stay…. Small things maybe but not what you expect from a small family hotel.

Perfect location super close to station - perfect for exploring Ligurian and the Cinque Terre. Lovely rooms, fantastic staff, great breakfast and really nice relaxing areas: - lounge, bar and pool. The staff were all super friendly and helpful with hiking ideas, trying out local drinks and kept the bistro/restaurant open for us late on our first day arrival. If we come back to this part of the world will definitely stay here again - thoroughly recommend.
