Kalu's was such an amazing Hotel to stay at, we did 3 nights to relax and also did an early morning Safari which I highly recommend getting up early for! The hotel organised this for us and the guide was brilliant, had some incredible intimate moments with some young elephants. I can't praise the management and staff enough.. The food was lovely! breakfast, lunch and dinner. As the hotel was quiet for a couple days we even requested a lake fish curry which they happily organised with the chef and got some local freshly made bread to go with it. It was amazing! The owner should be very proud of all his staff but a special mention to Mangala and Sadaruwan! They couldnt do enough for us and giving us great advice with eating the traditional Sri Lankan food how it should be eaten properly. We got 5 star treatment every minute we were there. We will definitely be back when we visit Sri Lanka again in 2026. Thank you for making the end of our holiday so special 😁

Great place to stay for visiting Udawalawe National Park and the Elephant Transit Home. The hotel is lovely with a really warm friendly welcome. Breakfast and dinner were both buffet style with lots of choice - everything we tried was delicious.

An absolut lovely place. With a lot of privacy. Restaurant top, servants are speaking a perfect English and Chef cook Peter likes to come to the table for a chat. We recrived here the best hoppers. 😋 Udawalawe NP entrance is close and worh to go on Safari

Dieses Hotel ist ein kleines Paradies in den Bananenplantagen von Sri Lanka und perfekt für jeden, der eine Auszeit vom Alltag sucht. Es kombiniert Nachhaltigkeit, Komfort und Naturerlebnisse auf eine Weise, die selten zu finden ist. Wer Ruhe, tropische Natur und authentische Gastfreundschaft sucht, wird hier einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt erleben. Das Hotel ist sehr toll in der Natur gelegen, sehr entspannend und ruhig. Der Service, insbesondere an der Rezeption und im Restaurant waren toll und sehr professionell! Es gibt nur 14 Zimmer, von denen 3 belegt waren während unseres Aufenthalts. Daher haben wir a la Carte zu essen bekommen, was eine schöne Abwechslung zu den Buffets in den anderen Hotels war. Der Pool ist schön in einem Garten gelegen. Als die Sonne unterging, flogen viele Flughunde darüber hinweg, was ein Erlebnis war! Wir wären gerne länger geblieben!

What a place! The setting, the service, the people all truly wonderful. My family consists of myself and husband and our 13 year old son, we went on safari, saw the elephants being fed, how could we not fall in Love with this place?! Our only regret being that we didn’t stay for longer.

Exceptional stay in a hidden gem. Staff were wonderful, dinner was fantastic using local produce from the garden. Rooms very comfortable and pool and terrace area great for chilling. Well worth spending a couple of days R & R here and visiting Udawalawe for a jeep safari.

I stayed with my family in Kalus hideaway. From the get go the smiles of staff and welcoming nature was what truly stayed with us. Chef Peter was amazing and looked after us really well. He was beyond amazing and became a part of our family. The kids got really attached to him and he made their favourite food. Special shout our to Sanjewa Sandaruwan Supun and Susantha. Amazing and always accommodated all our requests. Please take a bow guys and we will be back again.
