OMG - this place is amazing. Secluded but only a short walk into town, And, the owner, Annalisa, was the most accommodating host we have ever had for a B & B. Got lost the night of our arrival and it was raining ... Google Maps was sketchy with all the mid evil city walls. I finally gave up and gave Annalisa a call with a picture of where we were. She said my son will be there in 5 minutes. Beautiful lady!

Such an amazing place to stay. Absolute 10/10! No matter what you're interested in doing in the area, the hosts are able to make specific recommendations to make sure your trip is exactly what you're hoping for. The winery recommendations were extremely helpful because there are so many to choose from. Everything is clean, comfortable, up to date, and simply beautiful.

Annalise and Massimo were superb. They were kind thoughtful and most knowledgeable. These two went above and beyond. Our next trip will definitely be at Porta Castellana!!!

This is our second time staying at Porta Castellana and it was even more wonderful the second time than the first. You can't get a better host than Annalisa and her wonderful family and staff. This place has all of the comfort of home and is in a beautiful setting. The rooms are well-appointed, clean and modern without losing the touch of the rustic setting. And you can't get a better breakfast! The town of Montalcino is a little sleepy this time of year (November) which has given us the time to enjoy this place. Just a short walk up a hill, you can be in the heart of the town and easily find a nice meal and lots of Brunello! Grazie Mille, Annalisa! If we could give you 10 stars, we would! If you can master the labyrinth of Montalcino's historic and tiny streets to find the hotel, brava(o). The owners were helpful to us as we went astray. Massimo was kind to drive to us and let us follow him to the hotel. Follow Annalisa's directions carefully! We were gifted with an upgrade. Many thanks to Annalisa for her generosity. The check-in was quick and simple. The room was comfortable and spacious. There was even 2 bathrooms. The bed's mattress and pillows were hard though and did not make for a comfortable or fitting sleep unfortunately. The breakfast was very good. Water was missing as well as was the ability to have another pot of hot water for tea. The price was fair for the summer. Another disappointment is that guests are requested to check out and depart by 10 am. We were allowed to stay until 11 am. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. Would I return to stay at Porta Castellana? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

From check in to check out we were treated like family! We arrived with warm greetings and information. Our room was SO lovely and the garden breakfast was something to look forward to every day! We were sorry to leave. But will return.

Excellent accommodations at a great location. The rooms were spacious and bright. The kitchen was large and fully equipped. It was just a 10 minute walk to all the piazzas and restaurants, albeit up hill. The breakfasts (included) were excellent . Our hostess was knowledgeable and friendly.

The staff was awesome. The room could have been a little more comfortable with a comfy reading chair or place to relax. Transportation was difficult but the bed was comfortable and clean. Not child friendly.
