Had to pay over $400 US when checked in which was unexpected. Did not have good service at the steak house and food was no good. Enjoyed the Japanese cuisine though. Will not stay here again as service was terrible.

From the service upon entering from the Bell Man Silvester to the attentive housekeeper and front desk checkin, our stay was amazing even though it was short. I will be back for our family reunion.

All around bad experience. As I was walking to the water park and into the pool I stepped on the grates that surround it to enter and fell through and got injured. The staff didn’t seem to care to help and the “nurse” tried to charge me for bandaids. She was EXTREMELY rude and apathetic. Like, I got hurt on YOUR property and she didn’t care. By the way, someone fell through them the next day. Because of the injuries I was no longer able to get into the water and my trip was ruined.

So, I wrote one review to help the 1 main person who helped us here. Here is the real review of my overall stay: Thurs - no service at all very disappointed. Fri - better after meeting Nadine! Sat, Sun and Monday were cool. - Routine is stale. (Vybe team) not their fault because they are great but it’s repetitive. - Food not hot and below avg for what ur paying. Should be way more options than American junk food (old pizza etc) very hit or miss. You should allow guests to order room service from any of the restaurants. - restaurant Reservations don’t work on the app - Tv with WiFi streaming doesn’t work. - Not enough rotation of music at the pool and beach area. - Room service ordering closed 1 hr 15 min before it was supposed to and can only order limited items. - If you have never been to a royalton u would be lost. Not a very good job explaining where things are. - Staff are hit/miss not very friendly but others are. The cleaning and landscaping people mostly just talk to themselves and look you right in the face and walk by. - Paper straws are cheap and there are other durable plant based/economy friendly straws. - Curtains Don’t close out all light and bright patio light is on all night with no option to turn it off! - Even though we were at adults only when having to eat anywhere there are kids there running around. - Ordered basic Room Service at 9 by calling. Didn’t come until after 11pm and the resort was practically empty. Positives: - The relaxed vibe is unmatched. - Rooms are clean and modern - Pool is amazing - Best food was in Italian place. - Drinks will be made the way you ask for them - Staff aren’t pressuring you for tips. - WiFi on property is pretty good - Beach is well kept. Overall it felt like the establishment was trying to get the most out of you but give you the least. Don’t think I’d return. Would rather do Royalton CHIC in Cancun. This may have turned me off from Royalton properties. At most this is a 3 day stay type of property.

Overall this resort is awful, I’m sat right now at the pool writing this review after reading many other reviews! I often think it can’t be that bad and people expect too much! This is not the case here and every review I have read before coming here is absolutely true! There are issues at this resort so deeply embedded I am unsure how it will be fixed! So here we go; The staff are in the main rude, ignorant or lazy. When you land on a member of staff who is kind or eager to make your trip enjoyable you are in luck’ as they are the very few! Professionalism - does not exist here, there is no management system and staff are free to act as they wish with what appears, no accountability. Staff change their minds on rules with no logic and no explanation leaving my daughter upset as to why one day she is allowed on the slides and the same afternoon she is not. Access to drinks- this is all inclusive offering the highest standards, right? …wrong… all bars don’t have supply of glasses and run out regularly leaving you with whatever they can grab. Cardboard cups etc, they have run out of wine, Malibu, rum, cans of beer, pineapple juice, beer on tap…even ICE!! I have been refused a cocktail on two occasion due to the bar not having a blender?! Another guest questioned why a blender is needed, with no resolution and guests left empty handed whilst staff make no efforts to rectify the issues. I’ve been here a week now and this is a daily theme! There is also only one bar that stocks bottles of water, in this heat that should be standard. When we have got wine or water we’ve been told it’s not been in the fridge and is kept next to the fridge?? No reason why! The pop on tap for kids is watered down and undrinkable, I raised this twice and asked the staff to taste it, both threw it in the sink and refused to taste it! Says everything but no resolution. I have to bring bottled water and coke out of our mini bar for the evening to ensure what my child is drinking is safe. Bars - worst bar is the sports bar! Absolutely horrible staff! Never happy and make you feel uncomfortable being there, I have got similar views from other customers who have noted the same lack of professionalism. Food - this is actually nice, I have no complaints here other than the restaurant app isn’t great and bookings can be hard to sort. Rooms - rooms are nice but tired, the table in our room is chipped and needs replacing along with other furniture. Light fittings do not work and in general it’s not a 5* finish that we paid for. We do have air con but I had to stipulate on arrival that this was necessary for my child’s chest. However, I know other guests who have done a full two weeks with no air con and hotel refuse to move them! Disgusting Room service - we have only ordered to top up the mini bar and toiletries, this is hit and miss. Room cleanliness - we are in block 3 on 5th floor and our room is cleaned very well and laundered regularly, no complaints here. Pools - the lazy

This property is not run well. There’s a severe lack of air conditioning in common areas. None exists in the main lobby which is most unfair to the employees. The restaurants also don’t have air conditioning. We found that only the ******, ice cream and gift shop had air conditioning. The nightly entertainment is all outside and when it’s 85+ degrees at night, sitting outside is not enjoyable. There is also a lack of fans to move air for comfort. The pool water was hot, not cool… so being in the pool offered little comfort from the heat. The food options was not great, low grade. The Italian restaurant was nice, but no air conditioning. The sports bar is tired and old. We had an insect problem while we ate and that ended that abruptly. The steak house was nice too, but was extremely hot and without air conditioning or fans to move the air, it was unbearable. There was no water sports. Apparently, the vendor they had left and this there was nothing offered. We were diamond club, and this wasn’t much of a value-add at this property. At the site in the DR, it was. The butlers didn’t do much and now there’s an app to schedule reservations, so you really don’t need them. One aspect that exceeded our expectations was security. This was great! Lastly, it wasn’t widely advertised that if you’re vacationing with children under 18, and diamond club, you can’t use the restaurants at the hideaway. That’s a sham as being diamond club was supposed to have been the pinnacle service offering at Royalton. In Jamaica, it’s worthless. In the DR, it made a huge difference! I’m sure that when Royalton management sees this review, they’ll respond, but it’ll be lip service and nothing that means much. We worked and saved for months to afford this vacation and it wasn’t a great one. Would never go back there with kids.

I’ll start with the pros. The buffet had decent food with very nice variety and great fresh fruit. Our butler was very kind and friendly. Our room was lovely. It was just as pictured. It was clean and spacious. The kids pool was really a life saver. The beach and cabanas were clean and neat. The water was beautiful and I felt safe. Dunn’s River falls was truly magical. The cons Service was absolutely the worst I’ve ever experienced. When we arrived, no one greeted us. It took almost an hour to get keys for our room. Restaurant and bar staff have zero sense of urgency. There’s no room service. The butlers don’t do anything except make reservations for dinner or excursions. It was SO LOUD. There’s NOTHING relaxing about this resort. There’s music blaring 24hrs a day. You can’t get away from it. It was to loud the first night that I thought it might be in one of the rooms near us, but no. It was the entire resort until about 3am. I felt like I was at a college frat party. The “diamond” status means nothing. The food in the restaurants was inedible and service was just as bad. We stuck to the buffet for all meals. The entire trip was such a traumatic experience. The worst part was it was very expensive. The good was outweighed by the bad 100 times. I’ve never felt so stressed on a vacation. I was hesitant to write this review, but I hope I save someone from the same experience. I will never EVER go back to Jamaica.

Hospitality was not consistent. Significant unsitely cosmetic issues in room. Food quality was mostly average. Recreation, Activities and Ocean views mostly exceptional. Resort falsely advertise complimentary water sports which appears to be listed to get you purchase excursions.
