This is the spot to lay your head in St Ignace. Very clean and great price. Located just north of Mackinac Bridge, it is just minutes away from everything in St Ignace. The grounds are beautifully adorned with huge baskets of flowers. Owners are very helpful with visiting Mackinac Island.

Enjoyed the informative and courteous staff, the clean rooms. The weather was great and the plants and outside decor made you feel welcomed and relaxed. I did think of the motel from Schitt's creek, very comfortable and a great location for us travelers that drive. You can purchase your tickets to Mackinac Island (the ferry) at the office.

We usually stay at chain hotels, but we saw the high ratings of Sunset Motel and thought we would give a “Mom & Pop” place a try. We were not disappointed at all. The room that we stayed in was refreshed recently and very spacious. We have cleanliness and neatness as the top priority in our review of a room and it met our high standard without a problem. The outside grounds and gardens are decorated throughout with beautiful hanging baskets and flowering plants. It is easy to see that owner/host takes pride in their business. Definitely if you are staying in the St. Ignace/Mackinaw area you will find this gem to be the place to rest your head.

Not sure what to expect when reserving a motel, but the Sunset did not disappoint. If you’re into stepping back in time a few decades, then you’ll like the great condition of the knotty pibe through the walls and ceiling. First thought is a quaint, clean, and comfortable room with clean bathroom. Water pressure is very good and hot water never fades. Beds are comfortable and the room comes equipped with a good size flat screen cable tv, Wi-Fi, refrig, microwave, and AC. Floor planks appear to have been recently installed with a matching pattern. People at the front desk are a young couple that greet you with a smile and friendliness. If you’re looking for good food with a long list of micro brews, next door to the Sunset is Johnny’s on 2 restaurant. The baby back barbecue ribs are the absolute best!
