Hotel is in dilapidated state, almost falling apart. Owner said that’s why the room rate is so cheap, which is hardly true. Entrance to the hotel was hard to find and the reception is not manned at all times. One star rating is already overrated.

Hotel undergoing refurbishments but doesnt impact your stay, Lovely friendly staff, hotel room nice and clean, basic but everything you need, tea/coffee, towels, tv, plenty of sockets for charging devices, en suite toilet/shower. Breakfast was lovely, plenty to choose from and fresh toast/drinks, ‘chef’ asking everyone if there was anything else they wanted/needed, would definitely go back and stay again.

I visited Morecombe when the Seaside Vintage Festival was on, so a very busy time. On arrival at the hotel I was feeling quite unwell Gary the manager was very sympathetic and helpful. My room was clean light airy and spacious, with a sea view, although the hotel is currently undergoing renovation so there was scaffolding present. The breakfasts were good I enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to revisit.

1 night in a family room. Standard seafront hotel. Close to the promenade. Lots of stairs. Clean room with towels and toiletries. View over the back of the town. Breakfast was buffet style and ok. Plenty of tables. Partial view. Staff friendly.

We only stayed one night didn’t stop for breakfast didn’t get a refund for the extra room we cancelled nor for the second night we didn’t stay it was way below our expectations and not very clean the toilet was noisy the wall was paper thin the sliding door rattled when it was opened all in all not nice. The floor wasn’t level and the kettle slid on the table

The hotel is being updated, so give the bloke a break. He does his best and for the price, there should be no complaints. You get just what you should expect, a bed, a breakfast and respect from the owner. You could pay a lot more and receive a much worse experience. It's Morecambe, not Monaco.

Nothing like the description on ***********. Scaffolding front and back rooms not been touched for 40 years. Our window was so dirty we couldn't tell if it was night or day. The bathroom floor rotten and spongy obviously because the shower cubicle wasn't suitable for the job. It was also very dirty and the towels also. Curtains dirty floor dirty sheets were clean. We visit my son who lives in Morecambe regularly and this is the worst hotel we've stayed in. Breakfast was average. There's plenty of other hotels in the area choose one of those. Gary the landlord was creepy too. Avoid

This is an excellent place to stay. Unbelievable value for money. Delicious full cooked breakfast, along with croissants and cereal with a lovely sea view from the dining area. Comfy, clean beds with kettle for a cuppa anytime. Gary and his staff are brilliant, especially the breakfast waiter. Get it booked!

Under no circumstance ever book into the Clifton hotel. They are an utter disgrace and have zero manners. They treat guests like dirt. Gary the manger was the rudest man I have ever met and abused us. We booked a seaview room via Agoda for the clifton hotel. At 9pm on the day of arrival we got a call from Gary at the Clifton hotel telling us that the room we were meant to have had water problems and they were transferring us to their sister hotel called Strathmore hotel. We were told that if we wanted to cancel then we wouldn’t get a refund. On arrival at Strathmore we were told we won’t have a sea view room. Despite that we were very tired and accepted the room. However the room itself was a disgrace. There were signs of mold on the wall near to the window - obviously a health hazard to be sleeping in such a place. And then the windows wouldn’t even close. There was also some very unpleasant odor in the room - a smell like the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The following day we went back to the Clifton hotel to explain the entire situation and that we weren’t provided with a sea view room and if there was any chance we could get a refund. The lady we spoke to was very helpful and apologetic and said she would speak to her manager. She took our phone number and said she would call us back. At the end of the day we had received no call back so went back to Clifton to see if there was any update on our situation. We spoke to Gary who from the very start was very curt to us and didn’t want to help. We tried to explain to him that we had booked a sea view room but he became very angry and shouted at us that we were wanting a fight. Even though we tried to show our booking on our phone he forced us out of the hotel. On forcing us out he said to us that he doesn’t care what happens to us as he is retiring in 3 months. I have never experienced such an attitude from a hotel manager before and quite frankly can’t believe how Gary ever became a manager with the way he treats guests
