I have recently returned from a week’s walking holiday based at Chalet Savoy having stayed there in 2018 for a skiing holiday with my adult children. The chalet is situated on the level in the heart of Morzine, close to the lifts , bus stops and good restaurants. The staff Bethan and Betty at the chalet are very helpful, the breakfasts are very good, and the accommodation was very comfortable, although due to its character it has the feel of an alpine guest house, rather than other alpine chalets I have stayed in for skiing or walking holidays. I will be returning to Chalet Savoy for another walking holiday, as Morzine is very accessible, and the chalet accommodation is very comfortable and relaxed.

Chalet très agréable avec ses 2 salons communs et toutes les charmantes attentions: gâteau, thé . Chambres confortables, belle vue. Et super emplacement proche du centre.

I had a wonderful trip at the Savoy. The rooms were comfortable, clean and cery spacious. Once we got there, the hosts were very friendly and accommodating with all our question's. They had great recommendations for restaurants and apres bars. The Savoy's location was amazing. You can't get any closer to Super morzine. I would definitely go back next year. A definite yes for me!

Went to Morzine for a long weekend snowboarding. Stayed at the Savoy and had an awesome time. Location is about as good as it gets, staff were all friendly and helpful. Cracking food, and importantly for me a powerful hot shower for soothing achy muscles after a long day on the hill. Top notch!

Us brits are a funny lot, we accept overpriced accommodation throughout the alps for our annual or semi annual ski get-aways. This year, having just returned from Australia, I didn’t think we would make it away, but hastily arranged a last minute 5-day break with my daughter and a family friend. With limited time, a return to chalet Savoy after a couple of years, despite its basic facilities but close proximity to the Super Morzine lift, seemed a logical choice. The £200 per night price tag (the same I paid for the Intercontinental Hotel in central Perth a couple of weeks ago!), was a bit of a tough one to swallow but hey, we booked. This time around, Chalet Savoy’s basic facilities had become even more basic! I appreciate FX rates have weakened the pound, we’ve had a period of unprecedented inflation, and suspect local taxes add considerably to overheads to any Chalet operation, but this does not account for what seemed a complete lack of attention to detail or effort by the staff to cater for their guests. We checked-in at the allotted 4pm check-in time, as directed – no staff were in the chalet - so we found our rooms and settled in. However there were no toiletries provided, no key to my daughter’s room and two of the room safes didn’t work. We had opted for B and B only. Breakfast was never a “Savoy” strong point but has become an even more miserly and basic affair, the standard of which is rarely found outside Wormword Scrubs! Chalet Savoy’s location is a big plus-point, but the accommodation remains basic and very dated. The chalet staff either need some leadership and guidance in basic hospitality or should be given more of a budget to provide services and catering commensurate with the price. Either way there’s little flair or finesse that makes one feel like a welcome guest and few small changes, with little or no extra cost, would go some way to making up for the lack of facilities and hospitality offered by other chalets in the town.

I’m not normally one to complain but…! This is our 8th year staying on and off at Savoy, this year we came with a family friend. We checked in at 4pm - no staff in sight just made our way to our rooms by ourselves. There was no key in my room upon arrival and obviously had been a quick turn around from the people before, although it seemed clean there was obvious wear to everything, and obvious that they had not gone over the room before we came. The safe was broken and there was no shower gel (every year we have been there has always been toiletries so we don’t pack them). After a long and early travel day and walking in the heat we wanted to shower ready for dinner. When I asked a staff member for shower gel he seemed surprised we didn’t have any and I informed him that I didn’t have a key and he did resolve the problem quickly for me. Although the staff were helpful and had knowledge of buses etc, it did seem like they were on a ski holiday which we were involved in. One night I came back from dinner at about 9pm and walked in on the chalet staffs friends in the hall to my room having a discussion/ argument, they were getting ready to enjoy one of their many nights off! The friends were then coming and going as they pleased, it was obvious that they had been given the door lock code as there was many shoes left by the front door and empty alcohol bottles, although they did move elsewhere and no noise could be heard from my room after. At that point it no longer felt like a luxury chalet, and I no longer deemed it safe to leave things out and my door open whilst I went to breakfast (as many people obviously knew the code to the front door). The breakfast… well… small… no coffee facilities, a cafetière and instant coffee…!! The boot room was obviously faulty with the lock, which needed a knack to it.. which hadn’t been resolved in the height of the season. The pricing is Alps reflective, and well the location is amazing and is a selling point… overall still doesn’t excuse basic and lack of detail occurring.

This was my first visit to Morzine. The Savoy was perfect! My room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast area was also great. Plenty on offer each morning. There was an honesty bar and lounge downstairs which was great for relaxing in. The hotel is right next to the Super Morzine lift and only a few minutes from the Plenney lift. Finally, the staff were absolutely brilliant and were extremely helpful during my stay. My friends and I are already discussing a Morzine trip next year and the Savoy will be top of our list!
