The Woolpack Hotel

Beautiful motel, convenient location to get around center. Only problem is need to share bathroom and toilet which is i didn’t know when i do the booking. Everything else is fine for me.

Beautiful old hotel smack in the centre of town. Just so pretty from the outside and inside the pub is quite busy. We stayed here for three nights in the Flat. This is a massive flat. I cannot describe how big it is. It has 4 rooms. It is mostly refurbished, particularly the bedroom and kitchen (which is a full-sized kitchen with dining table etc. All crockery supplied etc but no tea and coffee. The bed was a bit lumpy for me but my husband did not think so and he can't stop talking about their pillows. The lounge and bedroom are full of light from the windows and doors which face the balcony. The lounge is massive on its own and you have two entries onto the balcony (which is shared) and is fully furnished with a magnificent outdoor couch and table. The lounge needs a paint job but and maybe some decoration. It's still great. Power points are enough. The bathroom is again massive, the toilet has its own cubicle and there is a spa. The shower works well. The actual tiles look like new, even though fashion may have changed. We did not use it. WiFi works well, but I had a bit of trouble with the password but the cleaner, who was a lovely, helpful woman, helped out with that. Service is impeccable and pub staff are all great. Meals are great in the pub and there are two areas where you can be seated. Note the pub area or the restaurant attached, Jumbucks, with an Asian and Australian menu. It's quite clear when booking that this is a pub and an old building. If noise bothers you, don't stay here. It was loud one night but it did not bother us. Parking - limited free parking behind the hotel, which is accessed via a little square of shops. We parked out the front and felt this was safer and risked being booked for it. We had no issues. Smokers: there were no signs for no smoking on the balcony - shut your door.

You’re staying above a pub. Dilapidated property, think “post soviet chic”. If you need a place to sleep, it’ll do. If you are looking for a cute spot, move on! No AC in bedrooms.

Clean and very comfortable bed , room 10 was great as right next to bathroom . Great staff , very friendly country atmosphere

I cannot recommend the Woolpack highly enough. It ticks all my boxes. Good bed, shower, clean room, no noise, friendly and helpful staff and cheapest bed in town.

The room, bed and carpet were very clean and respectable. The bed side stands could be improved with larger ones and the Venetian slats on the window need replacing and the trim around the fan needs securing. In the man’s bathroom… there needs to be clothes hooks installed to hang clothes and stand or small table needs to be next to the basin in order to place bathroom items whilst shaving.

The TV did not work at all. Hotel staff couldn't get it to work either. This meant our children could not watch a movie etc each night for entertainment. This was a major disappointment.
