I recently stayed at Mayukuyuku bush camp at the end of a university trip for two nights. It was a truly wonderful experience. The camp was gorgeous, right by the water's edge, food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We went on two game drives and a boat ride down the river to see the hippos. The guides were very knowledgeable and provided lots of information on the park and all the species that we saw. It was the perfect way to end my trip to Zambia and I certainly hope to return again soon.

Fantastic camp, great spot with lovely views and good access to a strong network of game drive loops. Home away from home with lovely and well informed staff. I have had great wildlife sightings year round! The true, authentic Kafue bush camp experience.

Well I had a really mix experience with this bush camp . We were 5 people who had our own 4x4 and tents only need a spot to camp and use toilet facilities. The camp spot was really good as it’s by the river and u had hippos around you who come out of the river to graze. They had clean ablutions with hot water . Bob the manager and the staff was friendly. What threw me off was the price we paid $40 a night per person for camping alone which is the most expensive camping I have ever paid in my life . Over the phone and on their web site they mention camping as $25 per person wht they don’t mention is that there is a camping levy of $15 additional per person per night which they claim that it’s not them but it wht the national park charges but they collect it on their behalf which is really BS as they give a receipt from there company and not a receipt from national park . If they are collecting on behalf of the Kafue National park they need to provide a receipt from them and not from the lodge . Further more the previous night we had camped in the south of Kafue national park in a similar place and we were only charged $25 per person for camping along with park entrance and cars and that’s it no camping levy was charged. As we didn’t know well and we need to be in Lusaka as we had a flight to catch we just paid it and we had camped there for two night so we ended up paying $400/- in total for 5 people just for camping using our own equipment and just for using there toilet facilities which is really insane. The camping spot was good but not worth $40 per person per night So be ready to shell out money when you visit this place

Reviews all depend on opinions and preferences. For us this place did not meet our expectations. In Zambia camping in general is (very) basic and there are not that many choices. How this place is situated is beautiful, but that is pretty much it when it comes to positive things. The place looks worn down and staff does not seem to bother much. Magizines at the restaurant date from 2015/2017 and 'the bar' is not much more then a fridge on gas that did not work. There is no electricity at your campsite and ablutions are (very) basic. I can not recommend this place.

I too recommend the all-inclusive package. Location is magnificent, the tents quirky and very comfortable. I was alone in the camp so I did get full attention, but it is very sad to see such a lovely place suffer because of COVID and other issues. A boat cruise on the magnificent river is essential. Go, and support this team. I'm most certainly going back and taking my wife next time, and spending more than two nights.

Whatever you do, don't pay upfront. We arrived only to find a place in complete disarray, looking terrible (can we all just stop calling it a Bush camp when you have no interest in maintaining a structure?). One of our tents had also been given away to other guests, awkward for a business trip but we thought we'd give it a try. After then trying to get help from the staff for the smallest things we gave up and went to Mukambi as we should've done from the start. It was a completely different experience there and cheaper!

We booked four tents in the camp in November 2023. When we arrived they only had two tents available for us. We had to find an alternative place to stay, and now they are refusing to refund us! Finding the service unprofessional and the behaviour unethical. Would not recommend supporting them.

If you would like to go to a good bush camp, with very friendly staff, great food, a comfy bed and clean proper toilet and hot shower (under the stars), this is it. You also get the adrenaline rush from animals walking around outside your tent and the random hippo sitting near the path, hippo grunts from the river a stone's throw away and elephants trekking around. Great body wash (not the cheap kind) and clean towels. You also get a wake up call with a hot cuppa if you want one or you can just let them know you wanna sleep in.

A fantastic location on the river and really easy access from both Lusaka and Livingstone - we chose to stay here as we were trying to cover as much of Kafue as possible during our time in Zambia. Wild dog were spotted near the entrance to the camp the morning we left. Really a great value option for those wanting to explore beautiful Kafue. Great for activities both on the water and land.
