Front desk attendant was very friendly and polite - please be aware that you may have to knock on the glass front door if you do not yet have your access PIN as it is often locked. Small lockers for luggage (backpack size) are available free of charge - you will either require a small padlock or purchase one for just 100yen in the machine next to the lockers. In accordance with its price, the room furnishings are of simple wooden construction but very spacious inside and have a nice natural scent of pine as you sleep 😌. Plenty of shared access amenities such as guest fridge, freezer, microwave, etc. Location is ideal as it is next to JR noboribetsu station, from which you can pay roughly ¥650 for a round trip (12 minutes each way) bus ticket to Hell valley (jigokudani). Incredible alternative to a stay in the large hotels up there for travellers on a budget, particularly as most hotels will sell access to their onsens to non-guests for around ¥2,000!

Noboribetsu, Hokkaido Prefecture. Filled with the mists of the North Pacific Ocean deep in the forrest valley lies the home of the thermal volcanic “hell valley”, all-natural hot springs, lakes, and the cuddly Bear Mountain Park. This is a tourist’s escape from whatever burdens them in the city, into the natural wonderland of mountains, hot spring streams, and warm local hospitality. The Noboribetsu Grand Hotel was opened in 1938. What was the Noboribetsu Guest House now revolutionized and expanded into a 300 plus room hotel with a finished off with a hot spring spa. Now a popular holiday getaway for the tourists both from Japan and abroad, this hotel packs itself to the brim both during the hot summers and the freezing winters. As part of our adventures down and around Hokkaido, we experienced this hotel and here’s our honest review of the Noboribetsu Grand Hotel: Our stay occurred from July 22nd to 23rd, this was our first night in Hokkaido after a long flight from Shanghai. A long hour drive from the highly trafficked New Chitose Airport would lead you to the Grand Hotel. Upon driving up, you would see how old the hotel is with its grey tiled walls and white drive up area. Greeting us at the hotel were the bellmen bowing as they would in the Japanese-style etiquette as you enter the lobby filled with one of Noboribetsu’s gift shop, monster figures, and marbled front desk area. None of the staff members spoke much English, so our lovely tour guide helped us in translation. Our check-in agent guided us through the specific details of the hotel facilities, breakfast facilities, and tatami installation times. We were given a 4-person Japanese-style “VIP” room, which consists of an at most 30 SQM space with a tatami floored living/bedroom space combination, a sitting room, a toilet room, a sink area, and a compact bathroom with separate shower & bathtub facilities. During the daytimes, living room acts a place for dining and seating with tatami chairs and a table. The TV stands at a corner. At around 7PM, the room attendants would turnover the tatami beds by moving the tables and chairs into the closet space and setting up the tatami beds. The tatami beds were rather inconvenient for us because of the size of the pillows that made of the tatami rather hard to sleep on. Don’t get us wrong, tatami beds are an efficient sleeping beds for families, but a single small sized pillow per bed makes the difference between authentic Japanese comfort and discomfort. Much of the challenge during the sleeping process was making sure your body stayed on the mattress when getting used to the firm yet small bean-filled pillow. I would recommend rooms that they provide that caters to a more westernized style with full beds. The tatami issue is a situation the hotel needs to revamp on. If they can start providing extra pillows in the closet or thicker sized pillows, it would be a great turnaround. The Japanese Hot Spring SPA concept is quite bizarre. Unlike mos

I stayed there a few years ago and have always wanted to stay there again someday. My parents came from another prefecture, so I was looking forward to spending time here with them. But it's the worst. Everything is the worst. From the time of the first check-in, the staff were not very friendly and their response was very clerical. Breakfast at 7am and 9am? I asked her which one would be better, and I was given the option of being too early or too late, and she said 8 o'clock is not a good time.Well, it's fine. That's what it feels like. Unpleasant at this point. Afterwards, we were shown around the guest rooms, first heading to my and my children's rooms. My parents were upstairs. At that time, even though my room was at the far end, my elderly parents were forced to walk to the end with me. When you get off the elevator, there will probably be some kind of response, such as telling you that your room is far away, so please wait here. Especially since I only use the Japanese-style room for sleeping and getting ready in the morning. My parents had a slightly larger room, but there was rotten water and rotten flowers in the vase. It's the worst. From the beginning to this point, it's been nothing but unpleasant. And the culmination is dinner. It's late anyway. Even though the next dish isn't coming, if there's a little left, I ask if I can take it and take it. I said I could serve the child's rice and miso soup first, but no matter how long I waited, the side dish never came. Elementary school children decided to eat only rice and miso soup. The air conditioning was centrally controlled and the room was hot and humid, so I asked if I could open the window, and they said yes. Then both sides are fully open so it gets cold. The tempura that came out had a little bit of salt on it, but if it wasn't enough, I was asked to add more. There was no salt at all. After getting tired of waiting, the beef stew was brought out, but even when it was placed in front of me, it was still not ready to eat and was still simmering on the stove. The caterer left without saying that. There are no plates to serve the stew. There was a plate and astragalus in a corner with dust hanging down, and the astragalus was bald and dirty, so I wondered if I was going to eat it. and disgust. And is the finished stew a soup curry? ? ********** soup. I eat Shiraoi beef every year, but this was the first time I had eaten meat that chewed so much that nothing came out, and that there was no fat at all. It was explained that it was simmered for 6 hours, but I think it was frozen. In the end, the dining staff probably felt uncomfortable with our outburst of dissatisfaction, but instead of greeting us, they glared at us from behind. Of course, there were other staff members who treated us in a pleasant manner, but for us, they were really the worst, mainly the ones who helped us with our rooms and served dinner. I think this is important. Are you choosing your customers? I've been to many hot spring inns all over the country, but this was the first time I felt so uncomfortable and had to actually express my discomfort to someone. I made my father's last trip during his illness the worst, and the only thing I can do is blame myself for choosing this inn. I never want to come to a place like this again.

The hotel has a grand appearance. You can see it immediately after getting off the Noboribetsu Onsen Bus Terminal. It can be reached within a 5-minute walk. There is a convenience store near the hot spring street.
The space in the room is large, but the only air-conditioning equipment is heating. Although I visited in winter, the heating was relatively strong and hot, so I needed to open some windows for ventilation.
The large bathhouse has two floors. Men and women exchange entrances in the morning and evening. It is very large and has multiple hot spring pools. The large bathing room on the B2 floor is very beautiful, so it is recommended to go to the open-air couple.

We had high expectations based on other reviews but had such a terrible stay that we are in the process of seeking a refund. Booked the largest room to fit the family bt were then told that I had only booked for two. This was my fault as I should have read the fine print but was fine with the extra charge - however this was then quoted as 50,000 yen for each of my two kids. Higher than the charge for the original room per person. They kept us in the lobby for half an hour while seeing if they could find food - the manager in a loud voice on the phone describing how the ”gaijin” had messed up the reservation and could they possibly help...it seems he didn't realise I speak fluent Japanese. Anyway long story short we booked a separate room or my kids at a cheaper rate. The hotel is very dated and not worth the price - the superior rooms have not changed since the 80s bubble period and the cleaning failed to find a very unfortunate item from the previous guest in our bed - which I have never seen in 30 years of staying in top hotels. The food was very nice for dinner and the lady we had as our waitress was lovely. Unfortunately the front manager and the overall experience spoiled what was supposed to be the highlight of our Hokkaido trip. Unmitigated disaster.

We stayed on a tour of Trapix. Noboribetsu Onsen seems to have several hotels of the same affiliation, among which it seems to be a hotel of a convenient rank. It was a little far from the hot spring town, but it was about 15 minutes walk to ”Hell Valley”. The hot spring is located further down the stairs from the first basement floor, but I thought that the five bathtubs had different spring quality hot water, and it was a hotel built on the source of Noboribetsu Onsen. This hot spring was the best. At the restaurant, the table was assigned to each room for the tour guests, so if I went in time, I could eat without being crowded. It was snowing outside the window and there was a taste. Dinner was a buffet, but all-you-can-eat crabs seemed to be on sale, but the shrimp was better. Squid somen and shrimp tempura were also delicious. There are many Hokkaido dishes for breakfast, and it seems that you can have a cup of rice with just squid sashimi from the morning. I thought that the dessert mango and almond tofu were similar to high-end Chinese restaurants. It was nice that the room had a large size of a Japanese-style room and a Western-style room, but it is dry even if it is humidified with an air purifier, so be careful in winter.

Everything was lovely. The grand bath was an eye opener and I love it. The breakfast spread was good too! We had ramen at one of the restaurants in the hotel at around 830pm after watching the demon show. We stayed there for 2 nights and did not utilise the grand bath on the 2nd night. I was charged the osen for 2 nights. My friend was not charged for the 2 nights as he did not utilize the onsen. The staff should have asked me before requesting payment of the 2 nights. - Carrine

Good experience, especially liking the onsen and buffet breakfast and dinner that comes with the room rates. We also get Yukatas throughout the stay. Parking is free and in front of the hotel. Our Ryokan room was also roomy, with 2 beds and enough room for another 4 futons easily.

Excellent
AadammartinI think this property deserves 6 points out of 5! The service was way beyond my expectations and I'll definitely stay here again in near future ^^
Ttea_sunFollowing the route inn in front of Higashi Muroran Station, it is a new route inn in Higashi Muroran Nakajima Cho . There is a little table and chair even in the single, the size is sufficient . The public bath was not used, Breakfast buffet had Ikura and Tarako (tiger stick beach processing?), I enjoyed it quite well . Convenience stores are also unexpectedly right next door . Parking is large, so there will be no anxiety about car use .
JJenna4PeacePerfect location near train station. Staff spoke English well and gave further instructions with a small English paper (on how to use immentinties and check out etc). We had a double bed room, so it was larger than others. Onsens are available for both men and women. Laundry machines are on the 12th floor. They have parking if need be. Down the street is a Mister Donut and Shopping complex. Breakfast was Japanese style. There were some veggie options, a lot of seafood, so if you're vegan or allergic to seafood, you may want another option.
ススピカちゃんIt is a hotel that is quiet and clean. Free parking is large and wagon cars are also stopped enough. There is a large bath other than the room bath, and the hot spring can be enjoyed and healed. The last order is until 9 at night, but you can eat and eat in the room. ”Drink set” was good, and you could eat ”Muroran Yakitori” which is Muroran specialty.
MMasamichiBusiness hotel without need
We used it for 2 nights on a business trip. It is about 15 minutes walk from the nearest Higashi Muroran Station, and it is a corner of the business hotel area, but it is still inconvenient distance when carrying suitcases and heavy luggage. However, this may be a location because one of the downtown areas of Higashi Muroran is located around it (far from the station).
The hotel itself is an old-fashioned small business hotel, and it is a type that inserts a physical key instead of a card key and turns it to unlock it.
The room is relatively small and the suitcase can only be spread on the bed. Other than that, it is very normal, and there is a free drink machine in the back of the lobby on the 1 floor, all of which were hot menus, but you can drink coffee and cocoa.
I'm not sure if it's a mysterious busy season, but despite the weekdays at the end of July, the price was higher than the quality, so I felt that the cost performance was low.
TTrailBlazer826388Business hotel in Rinxi. The building is new and all plans have breakfast buffets. There is a service that only curry is provided 30 minutes early for travelers who leave earlier than breakfast time. There are drugstore and supermarket convenience stores nearby, and there are shops in Muroran Yakitori, so it is a place where you don't feel inconvenience in a lonely place. The net has access points for each floor and connects without stress. Free coffee beside the front desk is also thankful for coffee lovers and can be taken to the room. Access is JR, so it is inconvenient to have a small number of buses or cars.
TTrailBlazer826388An old hotel in Muroran. Not only business but also crown funeral, banquet, meeting, etc., so well educated staff can be relieved by the feeling of old-fashioned hotel man. The building is old, but the rooms are available and the net environment is complete. I feel like the number of items has decreased compared to the old days, but I think breakfast buffet is also a satisfactory level for the price. If the price is quite different depending on the plan, find a good plan.
GGuest UserI used it on a business trip. The building itself is honestly old, but the rooms were clean. However, the carpet on the floor had deteriorated over time so it looked a little rough. The smell of food lingering in the hallway gave me the impression that it was an old inn. Free Wi-Fi was available, and I was able to use the internet without any inconvenience. If you don't like smoking, we recommend requesting a non-smoking room when making your reservation. When I was there, I wasn't asked if I wanted a non-smoking room, so I thought maybe there was no setting for non-smoking rooms because the building was old, so I didn't specify a non-smoking room, but my colleague complained to the front desk and said that the room smelled of cigarettes. When I requested this, I was directed to a non-smoking room, and it turned out that there was a non-smoking room. Breakfast had several side dishes and was very filling. For 4,950 yen, it's a satisfactory inn, but if you don't like old inns, we recommend other inns.
