Just a one night stay in one of the houses. The house is spacious with a living area, bed and separate bathroom. It also has a fireplace. Why, you would ask in warm Rwanda? Well, you are at an altitude of 2000 meters and it is cold here. The stone house contributes to that cold feeling. When we went for diner the staff lit it and even put a hot water bottle in our bed, which is needed. Staff is over-friendly again, and you are welcomed with the, for us now usual, warm towel, drink and briefing. Diner takes place on the top floor where it is cold as well, however you will get a stove placed next to the table, which is sufficient to keep you warn during the diner. Food quality is mediocre. Breakfast is ok.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It is in the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where you can trek Golden Monkeys and Gorillas. Very nice hotel, friendly and competent staff, good restaurant (you choose from 2 options for starters, main course and dessert in advance, all the food we had was very good). Spacious rooms with a comfortable bed, the staff prepare a fire in the chimney and put a bed bottle in your bed while you have dinner, as the nights can get very cold. Can definitely recommend a stay here.

Da Vinci Gorilla lodge is a great place to stay. It has Lots of wonderful touches to make your stay very comfortable! I loved the fire on cold nights, having my boots cleaned, and foot massages. Plus the food was amazing! Will definitely be rebooking!

We were first alerted to the problem when we asked for towels. There was only one left in the room, but it was damp. We later found out why - the room was damp, with mould in the bathroom. Also the (sewerage) smell from the bathroom drain was awful. Food was variable - when there were a number of guests, the buffet style was luke-warm and mediocre. In contrast when a number of the guests left, the food reverted to a la carte and was excellent, indicating a problem with the staff serving the food in the case of the buffet. This seemed to be in contrast to the generally friendly and helpul staff greeting you on arrival with a lovely juice and towel, wash boots and gaiters. If only they could get it all together. It was well located, with a short walk just down the road to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus for the Dian Fossey, which was well worth a visit

Absolute gem of a lodge! So charming with a friendly and welcoming staff ready to take care of your every need. Complimentary foot massages and boot cleaning after the gorillas was amazing! Great food, hot water bottles to warm your bed and fires set in your room every evening made you feel absolutely pampered. Priscilla and Leonard and the whole staff made us feel like family from our first moment with them. We highly recommend Da Vinci Lodge to anyone going to see the Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys.

We were well looked after here. The staff are very welcoming, helpful and attentive. The lodge is just a 10 min drive to Volcanoes National Park and the Fossey museum is a minute’s walk down the road (we walked there and several young people wanted to talk to us but we never felt unsafe). The rooms are very spacious and have a fireplace and seating area. As other reviews have said, they light the fire for you in the evening while you are having dinner. So when you return to your room, it is nice and warm. They also leave a hot water bottle in your bed, which was the most efficient hot water bottle I have ever experienced, because when I woke up 8 hours later in the morning, it was still warm! The Wi-Fi is hit and miss, but we found that to be fairly typical during our travels around Rwanda. Not a big deal for us, but it may be for some travelers. The floors are stone, so we were grateful to have a pair of flip-flops to wear. They do provide slippers though. Shower was hot and good pressure. All shampoo etc is provided. We had several meals here and they are delicious. In the evenings when it gets a little cooler, they put a little wood burner to give you heat. You may have company while you eat with the lodge’s resident dog Sparky. He’s a great dog so give him lots of love. As the other reviews have mentioned, a nice touch was when they cleaned our boots after our incredibly muddy trek to see the gorillas. They also gave us a very nice foot massage. Overall, we had a really great experience here and I would recommend staying.

Stayed two nights. Quiet location and well maintained grounds. Rooms are very large and get very cold at night. There is a fireplace which gets lit every night, but is too small to warm up the room. The first night I asked for an electric heater but they said they didn't have any, although the following night, after I changed rooms, the electric heater materialized. Plenty of power outlets, although most are occupied by lamps, router, etc. Amenities included an electric kettle. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom with everything in working order. Slow draining shower in both rooms. No shower curtains. The first room had a bath towel and a robe, but no hand towel (which was present in the second room). Wifi in the first room work for a couple of hours upon arrival, then no more. I reported the problem in the evening, but it was still not working the following morning. The staff said that they had been having problems with the wifi in that particular room; I'm unclear why they didn't give me a different room to begin with, since the place was not full. Eventually they moved me to a different room where the wifi worked, and I finally got an electric heater. The restaurant had an open wall and got very cold for dinner. Food was reasonable and well presented. Staff was friendly, but variably helpful.

My husband and I stayed here during our recent gorilla trekking experience at Volcanoes National Park. It's in a perfect location for gorilla trekking, very close to park headquarters. The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond for us - cleaning our hiking boots, packing lunches, and making sure we were warm enough when it got chilly at night. We saw a local dance troupe perform right at the hotel, and we loved meeting Sparky the dog! Highly recommend this lodge!!

Stayed one night before on the Bisoke hiking. The staff is super responsive and polite, making my stay at the lodge comfortable. During the dry season, the rooms can be cold. So there is an option for a fireplace, also they put a hot-water bag in the bed, which is very nice. There is a modern Fossey Museum-fond 200 meters from the lodge, which I recommend visiting.
