Excellent, clean and modern hotel, with simple and understated Japanese aesthetic and upscale design with many warm woods, in an interesting and very quiet older section of Nakatsugawa near the train station. Stayed here two nights. We went in our friend's car and there is parking provided nearby. Perfect base for your Nakasendo Trail/Old Post Towns. After we checked-in, we drove over to the nearby castle ruins for a quick hike and views. Professional and friendly staff, but as some English was limited when we were there, it is best to have your language app as a helpful tool. They need more information available in English print, especially since tourism is back and Japan is on the to-go, must-see list of many travelers. My bed was very comfortable and the private bathroom was perfect, with a wonderful shower that was great to use after a long day of hiking. A friend of mine used the Spa/Public Bath and loved it. There are good hotel free toiletries including great lotions, etc in the lobby area complimentary. They change the towels each day if you put yours in the bag provided at the door. For our day trip to Magome/Tsumago, we took our car to Magome and then hiked from Magome to Tsumago roundtrip and had a wonderful time! It was a pleasure to come back to a clean and simple yet modern hotel. While it is close to some restaurants, everything books quicker on the weekend due to the fact that many chefs only want to have enough food and not waste food, so suggest calling ahead to reserve. The hotel staff will give you suggestions and hopefully the restaurants will be available. If you have wheels you can drive out further from this section of town to the large supermarket or other restaurants. And if you are in Magome or Tsumago there are plenty of food choices for lunch and snacks. Breakfast buffet was excellent, and with good choices! Delicious! Of note, the Japanese tradition of shoes removal begins soon after you enter the hotel. Lockers for shoes are provided in lobby. They provide ”socks” (in the room, as I recall in your amenity bag, and there might have been ”slippers” ) but the beautiful wood floors in the public areas downstairs sometimes can be slippery. (This hotel needs additional photos for its TripAdvisor page. These current TripAdvisor photos do not present enough of the hotel, so google the hotel online for more photos. I currently see three photos.) Maybe just a few things to iron out over time as it is a newer hotel. They are trying and doing a good job and are very gracious and hospitable. We were even able to bring in our food we picked up for dinner and eat in the dining area on a night we were not able to get a restaurant. Excellent value for the money.
Hotel Route-Inn Nakatsugawa Inter

Business hotel chain along line 19 in Tegano, Nakatsugawa City Parking, Wifi and breakfast are free, I booked via agoda this time, but 6510 yen is a convincing price. Breakfast has a lot of items, but the open 6 From half hour to 30 minutes was quite crowded, and it was a procession of more than 10 people at the entrance, and after 7 o'clock, there was a margin. The public bath is small compared to the hot spring inn, but it was early this time, so I was able to take nonbilly fatigue because it was alone. The room is small, but it is average as a business hotel of this scale, it was good to see WOWOW.

It looks like a privately run hotel that was originally a public lodging facility. Therefore, for an inn in the countryside, it is spacious with a large public space. The interior is a little tired, but it's clean and I think it's a reasonable line considering the price. There are various types of rooms such as Japanese-style rooms, twins, singles (doubles), and glamping. [Rooms] The rooms are basically facing the river, but there are some rooms without a view where the river cannot be seen due to the roof. Even though it's called a river, it's just a normal river, and the mountains that can be seen over there are also normal mountains, so I don't think it's worth worrying too much about the view. Specifically, it is best to call the hotel to confirm. Please tell the front desk sincerely. I was traveling alone, so it was a single room on the 4th floor, but it was close to the elevator and had a view. [Bath] The single room had a unit bath, but I used the hot spring bath exclusively. I was very satisfied with the large dressing room, the open-air bath, and the quality of the hot springs. Guests can also use the adjacent day-trip hot spring facility, so I wonder if everyone will go there, and the hotel's public bath was always reserved for me alone (I stayed for 4 nights...). [Breakfast] I was worried about corona, so I used a plan that offers room service of Japanese bento. It was 6500 yen for one night with breakfast, so it was a little shabby Japanese bento for the price, but it was enough for me with a small meal. If you don't really care about corona measures, I think you should choose breakfast at a regular restaurant. [Access] There is a free shuttle bus from JR Nakatsugawa Station. If you combine it with a local bus (the bus stop is a 5-minute walk from the hotel), you will have no trouble sightseeing in the surrounding area even if you are traveling on foot. Magome-juku is a 7-minute bus ride.

We very much enjoyed this hotel. Traditional rooms with tatami and futons, very friendly staff. They don’t speak much English and our Japanese is non existent, but we communicated easily with google translate! There are private family Onsen on site as well as public baths for men and women. We only used the family ones and they were lovely, especially after a long walk! The hotel provided complimentary shuttle bus to and from Nakatsugawa station and also to Magome for the start of our walk. Food was excellent, which is good because the hotel is quite remote and there are no other options for eating. The breakfast is traditional Japanese. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the decor is in need of a little updating, but it was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend.

It is a homestay, a typical hot spring resort family hotel, and the conditions of all parties are relatively average. The dinner and breakfast provided are all local ingredients and tastes, which are acceptable. The location is rather biased. It takes a little over 2,000 to rent from Nakatsugawa Station to the shop, and there is no other means of transportation.
