Maybe I had too high expectations for this hotel, I can fool Europeans and Americans... The tatami mat in the room smelled very bad. Because I had eaten meat in Kobe in the past few days, I didn't upgrade my dinner. The upgrade included meat upgrade, and there was an additional service charge for drinks. I was very disappointed with the set meal. In fact, I saw on the official English page that the upgraded dinner seemed to be 2300 per person. I forgot a little. I proactively asked in advance about the service facilities, and the reply was that there were any food allergies. I didn't meet other guests in the hot spring pool. The location is right at the door to Wakakusa Mountain. It's exposed to the sun, you can ask the hotel to borrow an umbrella. I don't recommend dinner.

A one-night stay at the Koto Ryokan was a highlight of our short trip to Nara. The location, facilities, service and food were all great. It was within walking distance of the main attractions, as well as the calm deer under the cherry trees that abounded.

The hotel is a traditional Japanese B&B located at the foot of Wakakusa Mountain in Nara Park. You can meet the docile deer babies when you walk out of the hotel. The most amazing experience of the hotel is its breakfast and dinner service. Very high quality Japanese food. The dishes for dinner are served one after another, different every day, fine workmanship, healthy and delicious. Since it is a B&B, it takes a long time to clean and tidy up, so the check-in time is after 4 pm and the check-out time is before 10 am. This makes me feel unfriendly.

Just inside Nara Park, at the foot of Wakakusa Mountain, you will see the deer when you open the door. It is a historic building with a large room. Breakfast and dinner are all eaten in the room. The waiters come to the room in advance to prepare the room and will also make the bed and put it away on time. The service is very good. You may feel that you are not free. It is a very good hotel. A good choice for a slow-paced vacation. There are not many guests in the hotel, and there are no other people in the hot spring every time. There are also family hot springs. The meal is Japanese kaiseki cuisine, which is different every day and is pretty good. The transportation is actually very convenient. It takes only 5 minutes to walk to the bus terminal of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Many buses can go to Nara Kintetsu JR and even Horyuji Toshodaiji Temple.

The service and environment are very good. One day there was mud on the shoes, but the next day the black leather shoes were polished and sparkling. It’s a very traditional Japanese inn. The proprietress wears a kimono every day👘 and puts on beautiful makeup. When the bed is made every night, a sunny doll will be given as a gift. The breakfast is rich and delicious. You can feel it in the picture below. It is breakfast for two days respectively. The dinner is even more sumptuous. It is impossible to take a group photo of each dish. The scenery outside the Japanese room window is very good, and it feels like being deep in nature. It's very cold in winter, and the lack of heating in the bathroom is a bit disappointing.

Response from Property: Thank you very much for visiting Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. Our inn is the oldest inn in Nara. We are very happy that you visited our hotel and enjoyed Japanese food and lifestyle, and that our staff members were very happy to serve you. Each meal will be carefully delivered to your room. Although we can only serve Japanese food, we would like to thank you for your high evaluation of our food.

I wanted to stay in a Japanese-style B&B, and I searched for this one which had great reviews, so I decided to stay there even though the price was a bit expensive. 1. The location is excellent, right at the foot of Mount Wakakusa, within walking distance of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara Park, and Todaiji Temple. 2. It is a really traditional Japanese-style room. There is a heater in the room. A lady will serve you dinner and breakfast, and you will also sleep on the tatami for one night. 3. There is no floor heating in the outside room, toilet and bathroom where you enter the house. It is still a bit cold in winter, thanks to the heated toilet seat. 4. Experience the private soup. The service staff will prepare everything and call to inform. Then the private soup area will be invisible and no one can be seen. It is very private and recommended.

Response from Property: Thank you for visiting Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. Our hotel is located in Nara Park, so you can easily take a stroll to the famous nearby Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. We will bring each dish of dinner and breakfast to your room. As we are a traditional Japanese inn, we provide Japanese bedding for your sleep. It seemed like you were feeling a little cold. We apologize for that.

I stayed in this hotel eight years ago, and I still liked it the second time I came. The quiet environment, quiet hotel and quiet service are what I imagine Nara to be like.

Very good experience! Dinner is delivered to the room, breakfast can be enjoyed while sitting on the hillside, and there is freshly milked milk that morning! Super awesome!

Response from Property: Thank you for visiting Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. We are very happy to receive such compliments. You had breakfast at Mt. Wakakusa in front of our hotel. The hotel offers a panoramic view of the city of Nara, and has been highly rated by our guests who have stayed at our hotel. The milk is freshly delivered every morning from a farm near our hotel, so we consider it to be the perfect breakfast drink.

I stayed in Japan for 10 days, this is the best place to stay! Right in the center of major attractions in Nara, Kasuga Taisha, Nara Museum, and Todaiji Temple are all within a ten-minute walk. The environment in the museum is beautiful, the owner's aesthetics is online, and the style is very high. The flowers in the room are all purchased on the same day, and the owner inserted them himself. The clerks are very enthusiastic, the service is thoughtful, and the waiters are super good-looking! ! Dinner is Japanese cuisine, very delicate, hearty, and delicious! The breakfast is also super rich! In short, it is a very happy experience.

We've just come back from a wonderful holiday in Japan and had our first ryoken experience with Kotonoydo Musashino. Their website really helps you select the apartment that's most appropriate for you. We had selected the Yamabuki room. This is actually a little house that is set a little apart from the main building but this means that you've got great privacy and quiet. As part of the booking, you can select a dinner plan - definately the highlight for us! More on this later. If you have any dietary requirement, let them know. They can certainly accomodate you. On arrival, ladies are offered a choice of yukata. Men - you have yukata in the room. You will be asked if you would like to have breakfast served in your room or (and I would recommend this) if you'd like to have breakfast in the park opposite the Ryoken. You're shown the facilities and of course, the Onsen, before being shown to your room. This ryoken only had one shared bath type (seperate for males and females) but some rooms have their own private baths too - so select the room type that you're looking for. You are staying in Ryoken, you are not staying in a high-end Western hotel - and that's WHY you're choosing a Ryoken like this. Its all about the experience. You'll be served proper Matcha tea on arrival in your room before getting into your yukata. Make use of the Onsen (pay attention to bathing etiquette!). And then comes the meal. Your room attendant will come and serve your kaiseki meal, course by course - savour and enjoy! Our attendant (Miya-san) did a great job and together we muddled through my rudimentary Japanese and her English. After dinner, go back to the Onsen and relax while your room attendant changes the room for sleeping, laying out the beds and sheets for you. Now - is sleeping on a tatami mat the most comfortable experience? No - but it is an experience! In the morning, head back to the Onsen for a great 'wake-up' before going to reception to collect your breakfast bento box and head over to the park. We had the entire park to ourselves, except for a few deer, with a wonderful view down into Nara. We only stayed one night but you could certainly use this Ryoken as a base if your spending more time to explore Nara. Great hospitality and great memories! Highly recommended.
Response from Property: Dear value guests, Thank you for staying with us and writing such a great review! As you say, a ryokan is quite different from a western-style hotel. We are sincerely pleased that you understood this point and that you enjoyed it "as a great experience". Regarding arranging dietary restrictions is not always all that possible. Fortunately, in your case, our kitchen was able to arrange for you. We are relieved to know that you are satisfied with that. We hope to host your friends and family in the near future, of course we look forward to seeing you again!!! Thanks!

Situated right in Nara park, the ryokan is an excellent choice if you are looking for a traditional ryokan adventure. The staff can speak good English and seeks to accommodate your requests as far as possible. The food is excellent, nothing too fancy like high end ryokans but still tasty to the palate- we mostly had fish for our dinner. We chose the Yamabuki room which happened to be a small cozy cottage.
Response from Property: Dear Value guest, Thank you for staying with us. We are so grateful for your review and that you enjoyed our cuisine and atmosphere. We try to host our guests to spend relaxing time and feel at home. If you feel so, it's our great pleasure! We hope to host you again in the near future! Thank you again. Kotonoyado Musashino

Best hotel experience in Japan. Amazing Ryokan and Onsen experience. Picnic and Nara Park. Excellent attention and service - runs like a japanese household and the staff are immediately very attentive. It is olden style so sleep on tatami beds but they were comfortable. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner was top notch. Very quiet location in Nara Park - amazing.
Response from Property: Dear valued guests, Thanks for the great review. We are happy to hear that you liked our location and the food. We hope you will recommend us to others! Thank you again for staying with us and e look forward to coming back to you in the near future!
