Econo Lodge Battleboro - Rocky Mount I-95

This place is the worst. Do not stay here. Upon entering my room I noticed it was infested with flies. When I complained to the front desk I was told they would give me a fly swatter. Woman at the front desk had attitude and was very rude and disrespectful. Between the infested room and the rude employee I had no choice but to leave. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!!!!C

About this time last year I took my semi annual trip to see the family up north. Each time I go, I stop about half way and stay in Rocky Mount NC. My hotel of choice was the Econo Lodge , one of the Choice hotels. This trip I checked in and went to the room. I found that there was only one pillow on the bed and no amenities at all. No shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc. It looked as though housekeeping had been interrupted before they finished . So I walked back to the lobby and let them know. The woman behind the desk handed me soap,shampoo and conditioner and said someone would come by later with pillows. I thanked her but told her the one pillow would be sufficient as it was only me and I was planning on making it an early night to get an early start in the morning. The next morning when I checked out I let the two women behind the desk know what had happened and jokingly suggested they come check my car to be sure I wasn't making off with their pillows. They laughed and said not to worry as it happens all the time with housekeeping. Well sure enough I was billed 50 dollars for pillows. I called the hotel and asked for the manager. I was told they were busy, so I explained the situation to the women who answered the phone . Turns out she was the one who billed me for the pillows. I asked her, had she talked to the front desk. She said no. She billed me, at the managers request. I asked her to talk to the front desk and have the manager call me. Well it took me quite some time to have this corrected without any help from the hotel. The manager never bothered to call me. I did it through my charge card company. When I called Choice Hotels for help they didn't want anything to do with it as the hotel is a franchise. In the end I can only suggest that if you find yourself in a similar situation get the manager involved right away, while you are there. You can bet this and any other Choice Hotel is off my list of places to stay.

First step into the room with a pleasant smell and AC already on. After the second step I noticed the lack of cleaning and handprints on the windows and mirror which lead me to investigate further. Black footprints on the AC as if a child was standing on it slapping the window. Everything was still dirty including the shower, floors, bed siding and beds themselves(underneath blankets and bed itself). I know I shouldn’t expect much for the price I’m paying but if they just focused on their cleanliness more, they could definitely raise the price because the general appearance and placement of things is nice.

Very clean room/bedding. No carpets, which is great. Lots of security, plenty of parking if you have a trailer or an RV. Is a little weird getting into all of the hotels off this exit due to construction, but it should be resolved quickly. We have stayed there before, which is why we stayed again. I have read some other reviews which were negative which I totally dont understand. Prices are great, staff was friendly and quite helpful.

convenient location, right off I95, free breakfast was quite nice.

The hotel is located in a ghost town so if you don’t like Denny’s then plan to travel about 10 miles to another area. The hotel is ok. Property is clean and rooms are ok as well. My sheets had fuzz & hairs on them but I could tell they had been washed. Overall for the price you get what you pay for. A decent place to lay your head for the night.

Adequate but very dated. One towel was moldy. Seemed reasonably safe but not as clean as it could be. Ok for a stop late on I95 on a long drive but that is about it.

Smelled terrible. Dirty room. Unpleasant staff who asked me to wear a muzzle while not doing to themselves (face masks...). "Breakfast" was pitiful and gross.
