My wife and I spent six days here and really enjoyed ourselves. The Finikas has a beach to itself, just across a dirt track, and has a fine pool. There were many families here and it is in fact just the kind of place we would have looked for when our children are younger. While this is near the tip of Naxos, there are several good restaurants within a couple of kilometers; Naxos town and many white villages are no more than a 30-minute drive away. The beach across from the hotel is a bit rocky so bring water shoes (or buy at the shop next door). To the right of the beach is an area with a series of lovely private coves if you want even more privacy. Beyond that is a famous beach known for its snorkeling (near the unfinished, abandoned hotel). Pay a little more for the bigger rooms with balconies -- they are very spacious for the price. The food at breakfast was fine, the lunch and bar food was tasty. The staff always had a smile though they work nonstop over the summer. So why four stars rather than five? For a luxury hotel, the sheets and towels had been washed so many times that they were rough and should not have been put through another vacation cycle. That really should not be the case at a place like this. But overall, we were pleased to have found this hotel, especially when we visited the more popular beaches close to town and saw how crowded they were. This is a great spot for a break.
