We had a couple of nights here mid way through a fortnight on Nevis - a special treat. And it certainly was everything the pictures suggest - and much more! As there were 4 of us we were in the Sugar Mill which is really something else in terms of setting and the lush vegetation that covers it. Beds were good, everything worked fine - apart from the wifi specifically for the room for some reason, kept dropping out and then you need to connect to the general wifi instead which had weak signal in the room. But both had really fast speeds when connected if you need that sort of thing... the kids did and good news is that there's even stronger signal at the pool! Win win! Being July it's low season and maybe only one or two other guests were there with us, neither of which were using the pool so we had it effectively to ourselves - ever wondered how the other half live? Now we know! Plenty of towels at the pool and in the rooms, everything is catered for. Drinks were good and the food was nice but probably because it was low season, they didn't have everything on the menu - no lamb. But as we were there for 2 nights and they didn't have it on either night maybe we were mid way between the weekly food order? Anyway, that didn't spoil things at all. We sat under the fancy pergola in the photos for one night - looks great but maybe lunch or breakfast would be better as the main light in the roof attracts the insects of an evening. But that's the thing, you're literally in the middle of a botanical garden, half way up Mt Nevis! So do expect nature at all times! Frogs start at about 5pm and go on all night, which we found lovely. Loads of humming birds, lizards and in the morning the monkey's do their rounds. The gardens are amazing and if you are into gardening you won't know were to start. Staff are all friendly and attentive but never in your face or rushing you, very helpful throughout. It is pricey. But absolutely money well spent. Unforgettable.

The Golden rock Inn is a very special place. Up in the cooler rainforest on the side of Nevis Peak, it is a paradise of greenery and tranquility. The grounds are spectacular, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and extremely gracious, it feels like a private hideaway on a hillside with an absolutely, amazing restaurant to boot! We came for several quiet days after a stay at the Four Seasons, and it was the perfect counterpoint to a beautiful stay on Nevis. Highly recommend!

Truly unique and beautiful place. It used to be a sugar plantation and still has the stonework, historical feel. The gardens are beautiful. The service was not great. I must say, Sara is awful. Luckily I was able to work with the general manager to book activities, such as the garden tour, and he was fantastic. There is not much to do either on the island generally or in the hotel itself, so I recommend no more than a 3 night stay. To the hotel, I recommend maybe implementing more activities that can be done on-property, and a better way to convey those to the guests (Sarah should not be working in a customer facing role).

Golden Rock is out of this world. Lush tropical gardens magically woven into an old sugar plantation. Friendly and courteous service, beautiful dining venues near water features or amongst the gardens. Serene pool. Amazing sounds- frog cacophony at night, birds in the morning. Small resort with intimate feel. Can’t wait to return.

Breakfast on Sunday mornings at the Golden Rock--what a treat! We were excited to return to the hotel and see the upgrades. Breakfast all'aperto on a large garden patio, good food, and attentive service. We were pleased to see a lighter fare was offered for those of us who don't need full breakfast meals. All 4 of us enjoyed the lighter fare and were pleased with the options. The drawback was getting to the venue. The narrow road, although paved, is rough, spotted with potholes and in some places the road has dropped away. Getting to and from a parking lot without scraping the car on the road was a challenge we didn't master and we are used to bad island roads having previously lived on Nevis. Another difficulty was finding parking. Maybe Sunday was a busier day. There are two parking lots; however, they include both guest and visitor slots and some drivers blocked in others when they couldn't find a parking space. Of note to those challenged by uphill walking--both parking lots require one to walk uphill to reach the restaurant (about 200ft on the upper lot).

Five adults- 2 out of 5 entrees poor. Great atmosphere Happy with our appetizers and drinks. Very sweet waitress. Where they fell flat was our meat dishes. I was specific in ordering rare to medium rare on lamb chops- they were medium to well done My husband ordered filet mignon medium rare- without a doubt it was medium to well done and was grizzly- they did offer to redo his but experience tells us not to bother Finally as a very good cook the chocolate tort was granular and not a good grade of chocolate The atmosphere is stunning and one should consider arriving early so u can walk about- perhaps lunch also so that u can betterview the area

This picturesque hotel is nestled an interesting garden and rain forest type setting. The historic buildings are surrounded by a delightful garden with variety of beautiful tropical trees and plants. There is an opportunity for a four hour hike which offers pleasant views. A map was obtained from the office, though it was a great effort by the staff to find them. The map needs to be updated. The drive to the two tiny parking lots is extremely difficult to maneuver and parking is limited. We did an early walk so that we would arrive by 10:00, one half hour prior to breakfast being over. We actually cut it shorter so we were in lots of time to order and eat before to the dining room closed. However, we had a most unpleasant experience. The coffee was stale, obvious from the bitter taste. I kindly asked for fresh coffee. I was informed, "The coffee is fresh"! Eventually we were given fresh pots of coffee remade. One of the pots still had a sticker on it from the shop where it was purchased. However, I had to insist on a clean cup. We noticed on the menu that fruit or juice were included. We had to ask for this as it was not offered. The vegan omelet was delicious! Perhaps the waitress felt everyone had been served when we arrived and the need to look after was was an interruption to her morning. In any case, her lack of ability attend to her role in the hotel was unpleasant and we did not feel welcome. The poor service took away from the pleasant surroundings and would make me hesitate to be a guest.
