WestHouse Hotel New York

Great suite. Generally nice, although renovations are much needed. Was satisfactory for first 2 nights, and the the drama began. On our third night in the hotel we were awakened with a huge crashing noise. The next morning, without context, we were told that the terrace—where breakfast was served—-was closed for the day. Later we found out, by chance in the elevator with an employee, that a pipe had burst on the floor above us. Same day our heater and air conditioning went out (later we found out that it had been disabled due to the issue on the 24th floor) and wasn’t restored until 2 hours before checkout. The fourth night, from the suite above us, we were again awakened in the middle of the night with the sound of banging on the walls and floors. The next morning we were told that the people in the room were leaving that day, and apologies given for the noise. The fifth night, the noise started at 2330!! Called the reception, and were told the noise must be coming from outside of the hotel. At 0230, called again, to be told that the noise was not from the hotel and they couldn’t do anything. I went from the 23rd floor to the 24th, and found that they had a construction site going on in the rooms above us. Went to the reception in my PJ’s and was again told there was surely no construction going on in the hotel in the middle of the night. Demanded to speak with the night manager, and finally was told the truth: YES, they had been doing construction nonstop in the suite above ours for the past 3 days. Never even thought that it might bother anyone…or better, never cared what it meant to everyone else on the hotel. Supposedly, Paige (day manager) would contact TRIP.COM regarding a partial refund, but to date, nothing. For more than 600 USD (remember, an additional 100 USD per night comes on top of the price listed here) per night I would expect at least a quite clean place to rest my head. Absolutely ruined our trip.

We just spent the most fantastic week ever in NYC with family and friends. The Westhouse hotel was a total gem! It's perfectly located within walking distance to everything and there is a subway stop on the corner. The rooms are spacious and the beds were so comfortable. We were greeted by Pagye Gibbs-Luke who was so welcoming and made us feel like family during our stay. The clubroom on the 23rd floor was first notch. There was the most delightful and helpful woman named Sonia whom we met and she remembered us throughout the entire week. Winston, the nicest bellman I've ever met was at the front door and helped us hail a taxi when we needed and gave us the best directions and suggestions. We cannot wait to come back. The Westhouse It's the best kept secret in NYC.

My daughter and I stayed for the first time(not our first time in NY),Great hotel with incredible service. Special call out to Pagye for making our stay perfect. The morning breakfast/evening cocktails/refreshments on the rooftop are a must. Sonia was an amazing hostess for our evening glass of wine , she made the day even more special. Incredible views of the city to enjoy your morning coffee on the terrace and plan your day. The location is hard to beat..close to the subway, Central Park, theatre district etc! Winston was always available and more than happy to steer us in the right direction or hail a cab! Can’t wait to go back I. The fall. Thank you WestHouse for the hospitality! Read less

I stayed at the Westhouse Hotel in July 2024 for a few days, following a business trip. The hotel is older and probably in need of a 'refresh', however it is perfectly located for midtown Manhattan, the theatre district and Central Park, and there is a subway right at the end of the street. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and I was able to get both an early check-in and a restaurant tip for 'Little Dominican Republic' in Washington Heights! Rooms are fairly generous by Manhattan standards although the bathroom was 'cosy', with the door needing to be closed to open the shower. There was also nowhere to store anything in the bathroom, with what looked like a drawer under the sink (complete with handle) being just a veneer. The bed was very comfortable however and there was a decent view across midtown. On the downside, there are visible marks and 'wear and tear' (scuff marks, paint bubbling, etc) visible on many surfaces and the overall decor looks a little 'tired'. I also experienced some maintenance issues (eg safe not working, bedside lamp and phone handset not working) which I reported but which hadn't been fixed by the time I checked out. Public areas are comfortable, including the downstairs lobby lounge and breakfast room, which has a small outdoor terrace (unfortunately always full when I tried to sit there). The buffet breakfast was fine, if nothing particularly remarkable, and more than enough to get you going in the morning. Note that coming early or later is recommended, especially during vacation periods, as the hotel seems to be a favourite for families and the breakfast room can get a bit noisy during peak time. Overall, a good, comfortable, standard hotel in a very convenient location and at a reasonable price point if you aren't looking for too many frills.

Hotel rooms are old and dirty. Not sure how this is a 5-star hotel when there was a missing fire alarm in my room and when I asked customer service they just turned the other way and ignored my concern. Customer service is the absolute worst at the WestHouse hotel. When I asked about the Fancy Apple Bike rental deal, the front desk receptionist rudely told me to go ask another hotel if I needed help. For any billing questions, Customer service does not follow up on anything. Don’t waste your time or money at this fake luxury hotel. It’s a scam.
