We were given a quiet room as requested, which was a good thing. The air conditioning in the hotel was easy to operate. Other hotels have air conditioning that is very noisy and difficult to operate, which is very inconvenient.

After reading the reviews on here I wasn’t expecting too much from this hotel. I wanted to write some comments that reflect on the main themes I picked up (where they were similar and different). It seems I wasn’t charged the additional destination fee for my stay, although I had to ask a second member of staff to confirm as the first wasn’t clear. When I arrived for check in there was no wait. The staff member was not terribly friendly and welcoming. Of all the three hotels I stayed at in three different cities in the US, this stuck out as the poorest customer service. It wasn’t awful just not as welcoming as the other places. The information provided was not as clear and the general manner quite abrupt. The room was clean but the hotel generally was dated. The rooms didn’t seem fully clean or fresh but it was more that things were scratched, worn and dated rather than dirty. There were some stains on the carpet too. The location was, as others have said, excellent. I would have expected more for the price but it also was better than expected from reading some of the reviews on here.

Location was superb, next to the main subway station. The concierge staff was very friendly. They need to check that you're a guest before you can walk in to the hotel - this is probably because their lift does not enable guest only access to each floor - you do not need a card to go up to any floor. They charge a $39.99 destination fee and give you a $15 market value to buy food everyday.. (500ml water for $7.5, plain bagel for $5, ham and cheese bagel for $18...) They charge $4/bag for baggage storage after you check out.. Other than these 'small' charges, everything else is good.

Convenient transportation, within walking distance of various attractions in the city center, including the Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue, and Ktown. The room is a bit old, but clean, so the price/performance ratio is quite suitable. The supermarket downstairs and the market in the central station are not cheap, so I will buy some breakfast at the supermarket on the way.

The location is excellent. The room is spacious. However, additional $30/day destination fee is unexpected. Although hotel give us $15/day for the market purchase, all items there are pricy.
