Located in the heart of a tiny village, a short and easy drive to Sherwood forest - this was a good choice. Their website and online booking are both "rustic/basic" and we almost didn't trust it. The parking area is small. You can tell that the owners take pride in what they do and for a historic building, it's in good shape and pretty clean. We were ready for a peaceful night and that's what we got. We had an upstairs room that had limited windows for any breeze (it was quite warm weather) but there were two fans which we appreciated. It was roomy with a big bathroom but very little space for luggage or hanging up clothes.......it was nice to have a big bed, but the pillows were tiny, lumpy and way past their prime. Except for the pub across the way, there isn't anywhere else to get lunch/dinner, so we opted to eat there and the food was better than we hoped (had a really good chicken Caesar salad) and reasonably priced. The bar area downstairs sounded like a fun party, but we weren't in the mood so we enjoyed listening to the fun and laughter....The breakfast spread was very good, we lingered a little longer than planned since we had so many choices. If ever travel in this area again, we would stay there again!
