No.31 Castle Gate

Really nice building and on initial glance the room was great. Great size and lots of space with kitchenette too. Location great and parking round the corner was £3 for overnight so can’t complain at that! I’d recommend the apartment overall but there were a couple of reasons that I would mark it down: grout in the bathroom was dirty, a dirty sock in the bed drawer, guests clothing in two drawers which they had left behind.

Stayed for 2 nights, bed very comfy, position very good, opposite castle & registry office, suite warm and spacious. However a nightmare to find when it's dark & pouring with rain - don't think the locals know it's there. No tea bags and no drying up cloth provided, washing up liquid less than 1/2 full and sticky. Toiletries in bathroom used, no shower gel in dispenser, loo seat wobbly. A dirty serviette left on the table in lounge. inadequate lighting in the courtyard, press pad to get in tempermental (took several tries & a call to Daniel) Parking a problem, one of the suggested places easy to miss in the dark & flow of traffic (a nearby pub) the other we never found! Parked about 5 mins walk away, think it was called St Marks Place, & really reasonable for 24 hours. This is more of an air b 'n'b type place & having had one poor experience (also in Newark) I said I would never do it again. More attention needs to be paid to cleaning here and checking the details. Probably ok if your young & don't mind a bit of inconvenience but not for us in our 70's

I’m so glad we decided to stay at castle gate 31! I really loved this place! Our room had a view of the castle across the street… it was sooo close to everything!! The square was moments away… so many places to eat and close to all the historic spots of the town… I love Newark and will absolutely stay at castle gate 31 again on my next trip to town… Daniel was very quick to respond to some last Minute questions a out the space and local needs … thanks for great trip to Newark!!

No.31 Castle Gate review Everything was as it looked in the pictures, beautifully presented and clean. Parking was a bit of an inconvenience but the location of this apartment was so convenient for the wedding we attended, as well as being super close to all the food spots and tourist attractions. The only complaint we had was that the mattress was just awful, and there was no headboard which affected our sleep/overall stay. My mum also stayed on the floor below at the same time as us also had a terribly uncomfortable mattress. Road/street noise was also very noticeable.

Great self contained space near to everything. Parking isn’t too far to walk and reasonably priced.
