Excellent hotel especially now that it has been refurbished and it looks so modern. Service is brilliant and the staff would do anything for you. Reception staff were very friendly at check in and check out. Food was excellent for dinner and breakfast was just amazing. We go to this hotel 2-3 times a year and we have never had a bad experience.

Just a one night stay. Lunch and dinner were fantastic and staff lovely. The view of the Mournes from our room was just stunning (balcony room). A great evening in the Cottage Bar and there was also entertainment on which is always an added bonus.

Dreadful place, surly staff, breakfast wss cold and basically inedible. Overpriced for room we got. I was looking forward to our visit but will definitely not be back or recommend. Only saving grace is nice setting at the Mournes. Otherwise avoid.

Our stay was going well till we discovered what sort of events are run in this hotel. We would never have booked if we had realised. I had happily stayed here a few years ago but will never go back again due to the the unwelcoming events. I am surprised by the owners attitude to concerns about these events.

Stayed overnight at the Burrendale for a wedding on Thursday. Superb from start to finish. Spotless hotel set in beautiful grounds and outside seating. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Room was large and comfortable, all amenities that you would need. Food at the wedding dinner and evening reception was great, the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Great selection of drinks with local brewery Whitewater beers available in bottles. Try their Bee's Endeavour!

Decor dated, staff uninterested, a bit rude and very slow. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Used to be a decent hotel about 20 years ago but not worth visiting now, not by a long shot. Paint peeling off wall. Will not give them my hard earned money again. Recommend you do not either.

This is a fabulous family hotel in an ideal location for Newcastle centre and many of the surrounding attractions. Stayed here for 3 nights and could not fault anything. We had a spacious and immaculate family room, which seemed very fresh and newly refurbished. Swimming pool was great, we used every day. Food in hotel was excellent, so much so we ended up eating dinner in hotel every night. Staff were exceptional across all departments - so genuine, helpful and friendly whilst professional. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and we look forward to re booking in the future.

We stayed here for just one night on a midweek deal. We booked the garden room , which does cost a little more but is worth the extra. Having stayed previously in this room , I just love the space and the little private patio, so wanted to book it again :) Staff were so friendly (esp George in the dining room!). Check in was quick and the receptionist was lovely. Our room was really spacious, with seating and TV area . Bathrobes and slippers were provided. This room also has a huge bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and there's a TV in the bathroom, should you want to lie in the bath and watch it 😀 the shower was also spacious. There were plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Even toothbrushes , which is nice. Our room was spotless clean, had extra blankets (although it was comfortable and warm ) and a really helpful cleaner was happy to stock up our teabags and coffee for us when we asked for more . Bottled water was also provided in the mini fridge . The double doors open out onto a small private patio area with outdoor table and chairs. There is a gate to access the patio , so no need to go through the hotel to access the room if you were out walking etc. Sitting out here in the evening was lovely. The hotel is clean throughout and I do get why people would say it's "dated" BUT this is not a reflection on the cleanliness or service. In fact , I think it adds to the character of the hotel. I used to come here with family when I was younger so for me it's nostalgic and I wouldn't want to see it change too much. Not everywhere needs to be clean lines and glass panels ! I love the charm in the burrendale :) The hotel , when we stayed was quiet and other guests were friendly . The gardens are immaculate and the beer garden is such a nice place to sit after dinner or just for a cocktail or drink. I can't wait to have more summer evenings here. Staff in the bar and restaurant were excellent and attentive but not overbearing. The food was a 10/10 for us. The menu is traditional but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. I had beef and it literally fell apart it was so soft. Haven't had such an enjoyable meal in a long time. The chicken liver parfait for starter is also highly recommended! My partner also enjoyed his Meal fully . House wine was nice too !! We were given a choice to sit in the bar or restaurant for dinner but we chose the restaurant so we could have a window seat. The bar is cosy and again, I can't fault the staff. Prices were good for a hotel bar as well. We didn't get to use the pool this time as we only stayed one night ... unfortunately! It's about a 10 minute walk into town and tollymore forest park is a short drive away. The views from the hotel are stunning. We really didn't have any issues with our stay, the only complaint is that it wasn't longer. We will be back again , hopefully soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay , so relaxing 😌

A group of over 20 of us stayed and were delighted with the welcome we received. Most of us got the refurbished rooms and very happy. Found the staff lovely and very helpful. Food amazing and a very profesdional service at our 3 course dinner. Spa facilities great, pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. We needed it after climbing Slieve Donard. Highly recommend.
