Such a perfect little hotel. Right on the coast with with a beautiful view. The staff were so kind and accommodating. Cannot recommend enough.

The double rooms on the front (sea view) are pretty nice. Gorgeous beach is overlooked. Staff are nice and friendly. Ignore the reports that this was a place holding asylum seekers. Classic UK seaside hotel.

Great location and nice sea view right in the centre of town , short walk to the beach and shops , pubs etc . Stayed for one night , hotel was clean and got it for a great price , only thing we didn’t get a breakfast and was an extra £20 but Wetherspoons is just up the road for a breakfast . Would recommend this hotel if you want a cheap stay in Newquay 👍

Myself, my partner and my daughter came to visit the beresford as part of a caledonian trip. When it was first booked I called and asked for a sea room view and they said there are no family rooms with sea views but when we arrived we were very happy that we got one. My daughter had her own single room coming off the main which she loved. The room appeared to be clean and tidy just small but couldn't really complain. Would of been nicer to have one slightly larger due to the amount of days however as we had the extra room for my daughter that was the comprise. We were rushed off the coach as we arrived at 18:25 and told we had to be down for dinner at 18:30. That didn't happen as we had to get our keys (this was easily done the staff were prepared to just take our names off paper and pass the key straight over) however the lift was so small. It said it fit 4 adults. But as a family of 3 with 3 suitcases. My partner had to walk up the stairs as we didnt fit. So the queue for the lift took ages. The decor is very outdated on the hallways and landing. Paint jobs weren't finished. It looks as though someone painted and they just left the bits they couldn't reach. Door frames were battered and doors weren't cut to size properly. We had to go the restaurant quickly where they was a menu. We had a choice of 4 starters mains and deserts. There was no (kids) menu or options for children. The staff said they didn't know a child was coming. After explaining things that my daughter ate they were very accommodating and went to cook something different for her. The food on the menu wasn't great. It seemd like a great menu at first but the quality was poor. 4 nights in total we were there and the first night we ate the food but wasn't impressed. The 2nd night we picked at the menu we didn't like any of it really (the fish and chips was ok) the third night we ordered again and my partner ordered the cheese pasta and it was cold inside when the girl came to take the plate away he said the pasta was cold inside she just said ok what do you want for desert? So the first 2 nights my daughter was asked and accommodated for but we weren't given an option on the third but there was things on the menu that night she would eat. The fourth night we decided to eat out as we weren't happy with the menu when we had to choose it at breakfast. You are given a sheet with the menu on which you had to choose for that night. The breakfast was very standard. Not a lot of option. Hot plates of sausage, hash browns, bacon and something that is supposed to be scrambled egg. The toaster has 5 slots and you have to choose the setting. It either burns or takes ages to brown. There was an option for cornflakes, branflakes or muesli. A yoghurt option in one big bowl, no individual flavours and a ready made fruit salad. There was also 2 options of pastry. The tea and coffee were already in premade pots. You also had to wait a long time for everything to be refilled as we seemed to get there
Response from Property: Hello chantelle1708, thank you for leaving your review of the Beresford Hotel. It is disappointing to read some of the comments made about your recent stay. I'm sorry about the experience you had with our alarm system during your stay. We have been waiting for an engineer to attend and help us identify why the alarm is going off at random times (finally attended today after waiting six days). The problems we were experiencing have now been resolved. We continually look at how of how to improve the offer at breakfast and take on board your suggestions.

Stayed for 4 nights as part of a coach trip . Hotel overlooks the beach and is a short walk to the town centre. Room was basic and clean, it looked like it had been recently renovated. Floor was creaky but the building is old. Corridors are dated and some renovation is needed. All staff were friendly and hardworking. Meals were excellent. Buffet breakfast and a great choice for dinner. All in all a great stay. I would return
Response from Property: Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. See you again soon.

After reading mixed reviews regarding the Beresford hotel I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Don’t have any concerns booking here, yes a little bit tired in places and it’s undergoing a change of ownership so there wasn’t an alcohol license in place when we went. You could take your own drinks in so no problem. The staff are excellent!, very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable although if you’re a big person and have mobility problems the lift might be a bit small and best ask for a lower floor room. The meals are good with a reasonable selection although limited for vegan / vegetarians. Three star hotel and yet some people expect five star facilities. We went on a coach trip to Cornwall with Caledonian travel, well organised with excellent drivers and staff. Will definitely travel with them again and would stop at the Beresford but Newquay is tired and needing some redevelopment.

I read some really negative reviews before coming here.I found that the hotel was very nice.I booked a single room and got a double in stead .My friends on the bus also got double rooms .the bed was clean the towels looked brand new and toilet looked as if it had just been decorated. The buffet breakfast was very nice and quality of the evening food was excellent.Everyone at my table had different opinions and we all were pleased. The hotel is straight across from a fantastic beach and the shops were only 5 minutes away. All the staff were very friendly and entertainment was great.

Worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in ! Avoid ! Filthy room, full of unsavoury people. Had to pay for parking separately- despite being told parking available. The only good thing was ladies on reception who were very friendly and nice. Tiny lift with blood on walls and sanitary towels thrown around inside and outside of it.
Response from Property: Hello CavershamChick. Thank you for your nice comments about the ladies on reception. Parking is available at the hotel on a first come, first serve basis at £7 per night and it is possible to find free parking on the streets surrounding the hotel. It is really difficult to respond to the comments about sanitary towels thrown around the lift and blood on the walls as we weren't made aware at the time and didn't receive any other comments relating to this.

All transfers were smooth and on time. However the length of the journey to from North Wales to Newquay was gruelling, 10hrs there and 11hrs back. The Beresford hotel is more like a hostel. Its drab, the carpets are dirty and stained throughout the building. Our room overlooked other rooms, which in itself is not a problem. But the view from our window was of filthy external walls. The window latches in the communal area of the upper floor were broken with dirty net curtains. Most concerning of all were the fire doors in the stair well, which had large gaps at the bottom bewteen the door and the floor. Similarly, the room doors also had gaps. While we were staying there, the fire alarm would go off due to steam from a shower. Nobody flinched, staff or other guests, they were so used to it. If there was a real fire nobody would pay attention to it. Apart from the hotel, Sheering's continue to use it despite its awful reviews, we had a nice break but would not recommend it to anyone else and we will definitely not be using Sheering's in the future.
Response from Property: Hello, thank you for taking the time to review the Beresford Hotel. I am sorry to read that you didn't enjoy your stay with us and accept there are areas of the hotel that require updating. We do have regular inspections regarding fire safety compliance. The most recent one highlighted the need for a new fire detection system to be fitted throughout the hotel which was completed earlier this year. There are issues with some of the detectors being positioned in the wrong area of the room (too close to bathrooms). Steam entering the head does cause the alarm to trigger and staff are trained to deal with this in a professional and calm manner, first, locating the detector and secondly determining whether or not to evacuate the building. In the event of an evacuation of the building, the fire alarm would be sounded and staff members would sweep the hotel, warning guests. It is a tribute to the friendly nature of the staff, location and value offered at the Beresford that Shearings continue to use the hotel as a place for their guests to stay in Newquay

Excellent value for money! Stayed for 4 nights with a coach trip and was not disappointed. All the staff I encountered were professional and very friendly. - a credit to the hotel. Our room was clean and there was plentiful hot water. The meals were tasty, hot and there was a good variety. The hotel is situated in a great spot, just a short walk from the town centre. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.

Our first trip with our puppy Franco, we had a amazing time in the hotel, really great experience. There was a lady at the desk, couldn't get her name, but she was in hers 50's 60's, she was amazing and very welcoming. She made our experience even greater. Big shout for her and thank you for everything you did for us 🙏❤️. Really nice view from the room. Definitely we will come back.

The location is wonderful. The hotel’s bar has a very warm atmosphere. Very clean and modern facilities, with a very nice breakfast. The workers, Roger and Ionela were more than kind and helpful, specially with the check in and out. They also recommended us numerous activities to do during our trip. 100% Recommend

Definitely at the grubbier end of the budget scale. The building has clearly suffered badly during its former use, and has been very shoddily tidied up for the 2024 season. As an elderly couple in a coach party, staying for 5 nights, we were allocated a 4th floor seaview room with lovely views. The bed was comfortable, and the linen clean. However the décor is in a poor state. Stained carpetting, drab grey emulsion slapped haphazardly everywhere, broken door furniture partially repaired and unpainted, rusty towel rail in the bathroom, shower barely functioning properly, catches missing from the window openers preventing closure and rendering both accoustic and thermal insulation ineffective. Walking along the corridors to the (inadequate) 2-person lift or stairs, reveals tired and grubby paintwork on the door furniture, some fire safety doors opening the wrong way ( pull instead of push) and creaky floorboards everywhere. To retrieve a rating of three from what should be a one, it must be said that the staff were friendly and efficient, and the varied menu was quite palatable. What could have been a passable experience was further marred by drunken hooligans running amok in the corridors until after 02h00 in the morning on three occasions, hammering and kicking on doors. Not the sort of place to take your kids, if you were considering it.
