I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and every year the hotel seems to improve my room 112 was although small compared t other rooms in the hotel it was clean and well presented and staff friendly ,polite and welcoming as part of a large coach party breakfast and dinner was in their restaurant which again staff were friendly, polite and welcoming .
Response from Property: Hi Eddie, thank you for your lovely review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and took full advantage of our facilities and location. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

This visit was part of a coach Tinsel and Turkey trip. The hotel was a good choice. Our room was nice, the food was good and the staff were excellent being friendly and helpful. The location was convenient for the town even though it was at the top end of town.

Stopped on a Turkey and Tinsel tour, see view upgrade is overpriced at £60 per couple for 4 night stay, meal times need to be sorted 3 coaches at hotel and we were told our sitting time was 7.30pm driver tried to change time and was very rudely told No can do, by the time you finished eating there were no tables and chairs in the bar to watch entertainment coffee would be nice to have after eating evening meal in restaurant, some staff in the restaurant and on reception restaurant and on reception were very rude, need customer service training, young lady behind bar at night time was VERY pleasant and helpful and stood out from the rest of staff Overall hotel clean and good location, meals were good with a good choice to choose from just sitting times needs to be sorted.

We are still here and wish I wasn’t. It’s 330am and It is ABSOLUTE HELL! Arrived early to use facilities and very accommodating, although no offer of towels! However after that, it was just horrible. Checked in at 3, no mention of restaurant, just pointed me to room, which was nice and clean and tidy with Hypnos bed. Although it must be the only hotel, since the early nineties that does not provide you with water in the room, it’s quite unbelievable for £160. This for me shows the standard we are at! Went downstairs to play pool and have a drink. It was like being in a library! It felt like we were intruding when asking to play on the pool table or for a drink. The lounge was deadly silent, no music playing, and reception working the bar so asking for anything bar related was met with annoyance! We got the dregs of ice in our drinks. Went to reception as ball got stuck in pool table and was asked to wait, which is fine, and then was asked if the question I had could be answered with a yes or no!!!! To say I was taken aback was an understatement! It felt like we were a hindrance, not a paying guest! Anyway, ask about restaurant and was told there was no availability as it was tinsel and turkey coach parties -ITS 9th NOVEMBER!! Why on earth was I not told this on booking a family room with 2 children?? We obviously would have preferred a younger crowd! Went in to Newquay to eat which was nice. Came back to the bar/lounge with strictly come dancing playing on a TV in the corner!! No music just the sound of the TV. No atmosphere nothing. It was horrendous. And to top it off the TV was the other side of the pool table, so couldn’t even play pool!!! Spoke to lady in reception and she gave me a game of chess and cards, which was kind but pointless! We then had to endure the worst singer I have ever heard sing Christmas carols! Couldn’t bear it any longer, so ended up back in our room at 8pm with my 2 children who were boarded out of there minds! Now at 330pm me and my 11 year old son have been awake since 2pm, with a bunch of drunk teenagers slamming doors, shouting, knocking doors! Popped my head out and ask them to please stop and was told to eff off! NICE! Called the night porter, which I couldn’t do from the room phone so had to find hotel number and call hotel. The night porter came up and ask them to be quiet - after telling me to eff off in ear shot of my kids, they were told to “keep the noise down” - unbelievable! This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in, and we still have to endure breakfast, whoxh I am dreading!!!

My single room was clean, comfortable and quiet, although it overlooked a building site. The food was quite good, fairly average breakfast. Staff were generally friendly but my trip was spoiled by a rather rude and surly waitress in the restaurant on the Thursday evening, so i didn't leave a tip.
Response from Property: Hi James, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comment regarding one of our waiting staff, we wish you had come and let us know at the time, as we could have rectified this issue. We can only apologise and hope that this didn't have too great an impact on your stay. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

Went on coach trip to Cornwall and The Kilbirnie was the designated hotel. Room was small but clean. Hot water tap was faulty (room 121). As previous reviews have stated no sound proofing in rooms so was wakened at 5am every morning with noise from room above. Staff very friendly and helpful. What let's this hotel down is the evening meal - too much salt added to main courses and do we need a cheese or ham ploughman's on the menu every night!! Dinner menu selection very poor.
Response from Property: Hi Barrca, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comments regarding the food on offer, I will pass this on to our chef. We offer the Ploughman's during the warmer months, and this has been very popular with our other guests, especially those with a smaller appetite. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Cornwall. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

The night door staff/ receptionist was very rude to me and my mates, I went outside for a smoke when I came back inside he blocked me from coming in ( he’s spoken to me more than 3 times that night so he knew I was staying in there) then once I told him my room number he still didn’t move, made me feel very unsafe if that’s the security, his pupils were bigger than his eyes which made me think he was on some sort of *****. I said earlier that we were here for work, he proceed to say every time we saw him “ oh your the workers” not treating us like guests, no people skills at all with him and I’ve gone through a few reviews and this isn’t the first time this has happened there are other guests that felt unsafe, guess that tells out a lot about the hotel if they don’t care for the safety of the guests, now I could go off about the walls being paper thin so you can hear a pin drop or how the rooms have no air con and they expect a fan to reach you from the other side of the room cos there’s 3 plugs and there no where near the beds there’s a lot of things wrong with this hotel but honestly I’m only writing this review because of the poor manners of the security/ receptionist, he was a d!ck.
Response from Property: Hi Lewis, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We can only apologise for the manner in which you were treated by a member of staff. There are no excuses, the buck stops with us. Please be aware that this will be dealt with in an appropriate manner via our management team. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

Tried the Kilbirnie this year and met friends from years ago. The hotel itself is very clean, comfortable lounge with a nice bar and a good barman. The outdoor areas are clean and very pleasant to sit in. Didn't try the pools so can't comment on them but they looked good. Our room was small but clean and everything in the room you could want. Wardrobe space was a bit limited but we managed. It has a perfect location for the beach, and nice walks. Now the bit we weren't happy about, the evening meals. Poor choices and needs the menu changing. More choices without garlic please. We were under the impression that there would be a roast every day as advertised on their website. We got one night with roast pork which was very nice. It is our understanding that they are trying to get a food and drinks manager, which they badly need to get the meal options improved. Then this hotel would be perfect. Julie, the duty manager is very nice and helpful and will do her best with any problems anyone has.
Response from Property: Hi Lissybeth, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comments regarding the evening meals, I have passed your comments to the Chef for his attention. We can only apologise for the disappointment with the meals you were served. We are pleased you enjoyed our location and comfortable surroundings. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

We had a four night stay to be available as pastoral support for young family members attending Boardmasters festival. We had a lovely welcoming email and a warm welcome on arrival- including a departing receptionist ushering us into her parking space! All staff were friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff exceptional; everywhere was clean and tidy and staff seemed very happy and never failed to greet us. Room 101 was comfortable , clean and quiet . The pool is small, clean and warm with a super shower. The breakfasts are adequate in a spacious airy dining room. We had dinner on the first night which was ok - rather 60s mass produced choices but quickly served and tasted fine. We’d be delighted to return if we come to Newquay again.
Response from Property: Hi Festival Lovers, thank you for your lovely review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and took full advantage of our facilities and location. We are delighted that you will consider staying with us again in the future. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

Very dated hotel. Rooms are very hot with no air con/fan. Walls are very thin. Outdoor pool was closed with no explanation/apology from reception when we checked in. Bar was ok, although cash only! Staff here don’t seem to know what they are doing the night porter extremely aggressive and rude. Needs a makeover, new staff and refurbishment of facilities! Best staff were the bar man and the cleaner who were very helpful.
Response from Property: Hi Alex, thank you for the review of your stay at the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comments. We do not have air-con but the hotel has put fans in the room. Due to the weather and the amount of residents using the outdoor pool, we had no alternative but to close this for a deep clean. Our maintenance team did their best to resolve this as soon as possible. My colleague apologised for the manner of the night porter and I believe, as a way of a further apology, offering you a free breakfast. We can only apologise again. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

Clean rooms, friendly staff, amenities a bit outdated but available with pool(s) and small but cozy spa. Good breakfast, dinner was not the best I ever had. Next time I would choose a different restaurant, there’s a wide selection in the neighborhood.
Response from Property: Hi 454rf, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comments, especially regarding the dinner. It would have been helpful if we had more details about this, to enable us to improve our service. We hope this didn't have too great an impact on your stay. It is great to know you had a chance to use our facilities. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

Stayed here for 4 nights this week, and it was lovely. The staff were great, very freidly, and the dining room staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, especially sue who was very helpful and efficient. The food was very good and beautifully presented, very tasty:) The room was immaculate and cleaned beautifully every day ! The entertainment was good each night. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend this hotel it was great value for money. Thank you to all who work there.
Response from Property: Hi Mobile, thank you for your great review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We are pleased you thoroughly enjoyed your stay, I will pass your kind comments to the rest of the team. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards, Reception, Julie

The hotel has been under modification for a while. Having visited there back in 2017 and recently, it has changed. The room was clean and spacious. The walls are thin, both my wife and I woke up to really loud snoring at 1am and one of my children placed a pillow over her head to combat the snoring seeping through the walls. Breakfast wasn’t the best in comparison to other hotels but it was fine and the bar okay. Would i stay there again? I’m not sure, more because of the sleeping/thin walls. The staff were great and the hotel was very clean.
Response from Property: Hi Drichards, thank you for your review of the Kilbirnie Hotel. We have noted your comments about the walls, and can only apologise. There isn't a great deal we can do to combat this, I have informed the Management. We hope you took full advantage of our facilities and location. Kind regards, Reception, Julie
