Nikko Kanaya Hotel

Our trip during Golden Week was to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine and other World Heritage sites. We stayed in a corner room in the main building. The interior was beautifully maintained, in the style of a charming old-fashioned hotel, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The next day, it was bright and sunny from early morning. Through the large window, we could see fresh greenery, and snow seemed to have fallen on the distant mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and had a wonderful time. I'd love to visit again in autumn.

This is a traditional hotel, well-located, well-maintained, and charming in its main areas. However, the corridors leading to the annex where we stayed were very disappointing. They were dirty, unattractive, lacked decor, and were poorly maintained. Our room had damaged flooring and poorly executed repairs in the bathroom. Despite this, it was a pleasant room to be in. The breakfast featured the most beautiful omelet I've ever seen, but overall, the breakfast options were repetitive and became tiring.

This hotel has an old-money vibe, much like the Liaoning Hotel or Dalian Hotel. You're essentially staying for the history here. What truly stands out, though, is the breakfast and dinner. I haven't had much Western food, so I can't say if it's authentic, but I found it delicious!

This was a truly lovely hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. Every corner was picturesque. I highly recommend joining the guided tour of the building. The entire hotel is well-heated, so light clothing is perfectly fine. The food was delicious too. My only minor disappointment was the lack of a hot spring or a large public bath.

A memorable hotel, full of old-world charm, with courteous staff. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. It's a landmark in Nikko, historically the first and most high-standard hotel. The only downside was the set dinner; while presented well, the ingredients and culinary skill weren't up to par, and the main course fish wasn't fresh.

Not only did we receive excellent service during our stay, but their flexibility in accommodating our individual requests truly set them apart from other hotels – it was a world of difference. Highly recommend.
