Mercure Jakarta Pantai Indah Kapuk

If it's your first time in Jakarta, Indonesia, you definitely have to choose this hotel in PIK. It's right next to the landmark PIK Avenue mall and only thirty minutes from the airport.

The rooms are really nice, quite new, and the facilities are excellent. It's connected to a large shopping mall, making shopping and dining very convenient. There are also many Chinese restaurants nearby, which is great for Chinese travelers. The breakfast spread is generous, and the swimming pool, though small, is decent. It's a bit on the pricey side, so it's probably best suited for business trips.

The room was small, and the male staff member at the front desk had a very average attitude. They didn't tell me what floor the restaurant was on or what time breakfast was served, even though I only booked a room. The water quality was even worse; the filtered showerhead got dirty after just one use (as shown in the picture), which was quite alarming.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at – quiet and clean.

As a business traveler on my seventh trip to Jakarta, my stay at Mercure Jakarta PIK this time was quite disappointing. The biggest issue with the hotel is its cleanliness. Not once during my stay were the bath towels clean enough to use with confidence; almost every single one had noticeable black spots and stains. For an international chain hotel, this level of hygiene is truly unacceptable. The room carpet also had many obvious stains, which looked very unappealing. Furthermore, the noise problem was severe. I was on the 17th floor, and I could almost constantly hear the elevator arrival chime in my room. This happened countless times throughout the day, significantly disrupting my rest, especially at night. Even more unsettling was that the room phone would ring inexplicably several nights. When I answered, there was no clear content, and the sudden ringing in the dead of night was genuinely startling and unsettling. The only positive point was the breakfast restaurant staff, who were friendly and provided good service. However, the breakfast quality and selection themselves were rather mediocre. Overall, this stay fell far short of my expectations. I will not choose this hotel again on future business trips to Jakarta.
