The water in the open-air bath was hot, but there were floating mineral deposits and I thought the quality of the spring water was good for the body. There were also beautiful Nishikigoi carp swimming in the pond. I usually only go to hot springs at night, but I didn't want to waste time, so I also went in the morning. It seems to be effective for stiff shoulders and back pain, so if I could take some time off and have the money, I would like to go for a week to cure my sore shoulders. The Wagyu beef for dinner was also very delicious and the portions were just right, so I was happy to be able to finish everything at the inn. It's a small thing, but I liked that the part where the soles of my feet touch is made of tatami mats.

This hotel is a pure homestay. It should have been run by a couple and an elderly person. During the period, I didn't see any other staff hired. Four people to manage a shop is definitely not enough. The sanitation of the room is not cleaned. They only change the bathrobes every day. Sanitation and toilets are not clean. Therefore, the sanitation is quite worrying. The corner countertops are gray and the room sleeps. When the blanket shakes, dust will float up. Then the hot spring place is also in distressing conditions, the walls are full of mildew, and then the hot spring pool can be responsible for never draining the water to clean, because I touch the edge of the pool every day when I soak, the same one every day The place is abnormally slippery, and there are always black floccules floating in the pool, both in the pools for men and women. I have never encountered this before, so I don’t think much about it. The hot spring bathroom is also all kinds of things. The cleaning is not clean, the whole is dirty, slippery and moldy. Speaking of breakfast, it's really a simple farm breakfast. More than half of the food is purchased. The meat slices and sausages are all ready-made from outside. It feels like I am eating a convenience store package. However, the family of the guesthouse are all super nice people. The room area is also large, much larger than the previous Sumiyoshi house. The location is good next to the bus stop, but the food and sanitary conditions are really flattering. In addition, The shopkeepers can't speak English or understand them, but they are very willing to help. They are very good at heart and quality. If you don't mind accommodation and food, you can choose. After all, it is very economical!

We stayed in February 2023 for a week's skiing. The people at St Anton – which is family run – worked hard to give us the best stay; from the staff in the hotel and restaurant; to those in the public cafe downstairs; and not to forget the friendly and helpful staff in the hotel’s equipment hire store located at the ski base area. The hotel rooms are quite small, but that was OK with our being focus on skiing and enjoying ourselves up and down the mountain. Despite their size the rooms were very comfortable though! St Anton’s hospitality shone through when we arrived by bus at about 2 AM after flying into Tokyo earlier in the evening. The hotel is too small to have a staff member attending the front desk at all hours, and so we were welcomed with a detailed note about how to enter and where to find our room. Nothing could have been simpler! Breakfast was a foodie heaven, with a set Japanese menu changing each day – smoothie, salad and soup, followed by an egg dish (omelette or quiche) and home made breads served with the hotel's special and tasty Nagano honey and jams made from locally grown produce. Location, location is the absolute asset of St Anton – we were within metres of several Nozawa’s famous public onsens (and the hotel has its own), many restaurants and shops and just a short walk to the moving walkway to access the ski base area. You couldn't do better for a fabulous central location. Despite its centrality there was absolutely no street noise. While our incoming bus dropped us directly at St Anton because of the late hour, the central bus depot is within 200 metres and easily walked if arriving or departing during the day.

RRoving58114439236We stayed at this hotel for five nights, skiing, looking at the village where Nozawa Hot Springs is located, and I heard that place was highly rated. The hotel is located in the remote village, about 500 meters from Shin-yu double chair ropeway, take the ropeway to Hirage Gondola( There are ski schools, information desks, coffee houses, etc. The ropeway is free, but if you want to ski, you have to buy tickets at the top. You can't ski back to the base of the ropeway and you have to sit back on the ropeway. The walk to the ropeway was more plodding but short and no one in our group felt difficult, we were wearing ski boots and carrying snowboards. We were taken to our room upon arrival at the hotel, The waitress made tea and poured it on us, she was very hospitable. The hotel room was very clean. Our room had two Western beds and a tatami area with Japanese mattress. The waitress put down the mattress for us every night, Then put it away when we have breakfast. The room has a refrigerator, minibar, hot water bottle and green tea, a snack or cake every day, air conditioning, alarm clock, flat screen TV (all Japanese stations), good shower and pool. But we mainly took a shower in the hotel's hot springs, first in the purification area and then sitting in the hot spring pool for a few minutes. This was relaxing after a day of skiing. The hot springs were large and basically you enjoyed the hot springs after dinner. Breakfast was Japanese, with some western stuff, bacon, sausage and excellent, including grilled fish, salad and steamed broccoli with good Japanese salad dressing, all sorts of vegetables and pickles, rice, flavor, dumplings, porridge, etc. Also the best croissants and good coffee. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Unfortunately we didn't try dinner at the restaurant because communication went wrong. Dinner was expensive, 500 yuan per person, and served Japanese cuisine with fixed dishes. No one in this hotel has good English, our Japanese is limited so we have some small things like recommending restaurants for dinner, how to use an electric kettle, whether there is a shuttle bus from hotel to ski resort (no, indeed), the hotel lobby and the village behind the wheeled jar bird Stories, etc., are in trouble. Like many Japanese hotels and restaurants, smoking is a problem, and especially in cold weather. There is also a computer in the stairwell with high-speed Internet connection (free), but no wireless network and no Internet connection with the computer you bring. The village is great. There must be many small restaurants to try, both cheap and some high-end. Most have English menus and the owner has enough English to handle a la carte, but it is hard to deal with special requests or problems (e.g. whether eggs are hot or cold). Pork ramen is always a safe choice, tasty and cheap. There are 13 hot springs (indoor hot springs, pools for men and women) in the village and they are all free (you can donate some money in the box). We didn't try the hot springs because they were always overcrowded when we went and the hotel had its own hot springs.
