You Get What You Pay For (don’t do it)
One of my worst hotel experiences.
The air conditioning in the room did not work and there is no overnight staff to contact. It was 34 degrees.
There is no bottled water in the rooms (you cannot drink the tap water). When an extra towel was requested (for the second person in the room - the room had 2 beds) the staff said none were available as they needed to do laundry. One was eventually provided and it was dirty. Stained with unidentified substance on certain parts.
Staff at breakfast was friendly but there is no water available then either. They suggest you purchase at a local shop.
The location is very (!) difficult to get to due to the lack of roads (there is a road but it is not paved and so full of crevasses it is very difficult for cars to access it.
Would not recommend unless your only requirements for the evening are a flat surface to sleep on with walls around you.

Likes: Quiet, clean, friendly staff, and just a few minutes walk from the beach.
Dislikes: It's located next to a preschool, so six days out of the week, it is your alarm clock.
If you are looking to be pampered, this place is not for you.

The staff is courteous, wifi covers all rooms (when it works) and the location is great. But... The towels and sheets were constantly stained, made to change several times, the result never changed. The rooms are extremely minimal: for example there is only one "bedside table" for a double bed. Ditto for the light switches, they are only on one side. And you don't know where to put clothes or anything else. There isn't a mosquito net around the bed, and the fixtures aren't exactly mosquito-proof. There isn't a shelf in the shower to place shampoos or anything else. There are no covering curtains (in case the light in the early morning bothers you) The breakfast is mediocre and very simple: a plate of fruit, a juice of their choice, tea/coffee, slices of bread and eggs. The toilet was not fixed, so you have to be careful when sitting down 😅 They don't have a generator, so it happens that you are left without power (often not, sometimes for 10 minutes, sometimes for 3 hours)

Spacious and very clean room. Large bathroom, hot water and good water pressure. The staff is very welcoming, I had the chance to eat a local meal as soon as I arrived. Everything is done to make your stay pleasant. I recommend this establishment for its excellent location, many shops nearby, taxis, restaurants and beach. The staff takes great care.

I am happy that I stayed at Nungwi House. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I felt like friends. They helped me about anything. I would definitely recommend this place. It is very close to the beach and there are taxis right in front of the hotel.
