Hyatt House Oak Brook

This property is in poor condition. The room had a bad odor, the furniture was worn, damaged, and dirty, and the TV was broken. With better options nearby, I wouldn’t waste time or money here. No customer service problems just not what you expect from a Hyatt branded property.

During my week stay, the fridge at the desk to get cold drinks was broken. The freezer was not stocked.

We had a pretty good stay here. All the staff we spoke to were super friendly and eager to please and the rooms were well equipped and the stay was pleasant. A couple of notes as to why I only gave 4 stars. - We were locked out of our room twice because the night latch “flap” engaged while we were out of the room. On both occasions access was gained fairly quickly but it was annoying and needs fixing. - Please buy some more forks. Every morning after about 7:30 there were no metal forks left, and so you were left using a plastic fork and metal knife to eat your breakfast. Often we had to ask for more plastic forks. - Front desk staff did not seem to know a lot about Chicago. Maybe we were odd in staying slightly further out of town, but asking “how do I get into Chicago” of a couple of people only elicited a response of “most people take an Uber”. We parked at Forest Park station and took the ‘L’. - Housekeeping were very good, but there was a language barrier when asking for simple things like trash bags or toilet roll. It feels like this could be very easily rectified. All in all we enjoyed our stay, and found it a good base to explore Chicago and the surrounding states.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we had issues with the A/C in our room but after talking to Gali at the front desk she moved us to another room. She was super accommodating. We were moved to a suite since there were no more double queen rooms available at no extra charge. Usually when we arrive at a hotel at night the front desk personnel is tired and cranky. This was not the case with Gali. She was very professional and extremely nice!

The employees here are all hard working and extremely friendly and helpful. Specifically Raul at the bar who was absolutely fantastic, not only does he make a great martini but he also is the one who will make you an amazing meal if your order off the menu.

The manager decided to have work performed on all of the rooms and didn't give ANY notice. There was NO emergency or special circumstances in this situation. I left at noon and returned at 9pm to see the doors on my floor with a work notice for the next couple of days. The thing is that they already did the work and later that night left the notice for work beginning the next day!! Extremely unprofessional! The woman at the desk also lied and said the notices were placed this morning which they were NOT! She obviously didn't read it because the work was supposed to start the next day.

Great dinner! After a day of traveling and not wanting to go anywhere, the hotel restaurant was amazing. Raul was very kind and helpful (even with a full bar of customers) definitely would recommend! Also, the cocktails were delicious and not too outrageously priced!

Everything was great, in a great part of town, easy road access, space everywhere inside, in breakfast area, in parking lot
