Do not choose rooms 1-3 (or whichever are facing the courtyard). Not sure how they rent these when they have music all day and a show with a guy signing during the pms! Ok if you are not planning to take a nap or enjoy your room during the afternoon. Another example of how hotels try to maximize returns without thinking in their guests.

The building is beautiful, inviting, quiet, and comfortable. The kitchen and bar staff spoiled us with amazing food morning and night. The front desk helped us with every request. The room was small but so well designed, with lovely touches everywhere! Highly recommend for a stay in lovely Oaxaca!

El hotel es muy hermoso y el personal muy atento. Nos sentimos muy a gusto. Tengo solamente un comentario respecto al desayuno. Me pareció muy pequeño y poco variado. Había un pequeño plato de quesos y otro de fiambres (muy ricos ambos), pero si había 3 personas desayunando se terminaba instantáneamente y hasta que lo reponían pasaban 15 minutos. Además nos insistieron en cada desayuno que consumiéramos platos aparte a la carta con costo adicional. Cuando uno contrata hospedaje con desayuno es porque busca tener eso resuelto. Teniendo en cuenta la categoría (y el costo) del hotel, creo que el desayuno no está a la altura.

We visited Oaxaca for a special birthday and chose Hotel Escondido based on its Design Hotels designation and location. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the location was great. Beds are very comfortable. The overall vibe is charming and chic. Sadly, form didn’t follow function in our rooms. Like the overall design, the lighting was very minimal throughout the room making it difficult to put on make-up or blow dry our hair. The space in the bathroom was extremely cozy. There are no hooks for towels or shelves for toiletries. And because the windows aren’t double-paned, the loud traffic from the intersecting busy streets and music from the hotel’s terrace as well as adjoining hotel terraces could be heard all night, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest. There were also property and room repairs taking place upon arrival and throughout our stay. One couple in our group had to change rooms because the hotel couldn’t get the wifi to work in their original room but then found that the air conditioner leaked in the new room. If you are a traveler who needs a quiet environment to sleep and space in your bathroom, other hotels in Oaxaca may better suit you.

Muy bonito hotel, bastantes detalles. Para lo que pagamos esperábamos una mejor atención en el bar del rooftop, en donde ni siquiera nos invitaron a sentarnos. También nos enteramos después de hacer el check in que la alberca no estaba en funcionamiento. En general un hotel de esta categoría y con este precio no debería tener estos detalles tan básicos.
