The hotel staff overall is unwelcoming. We watched staff behave friendly and accommodating with other races, colorism appears to be an issue in this establishment. Hospitality is not this hotel's strong suit. The restaurant staff from the pool to Calabash in particular is very rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend this place to Black people.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful, the grounds are well maintained and everything is very clean outside and in. I noticed that the seaweed on the beach was cleared regularly. We had a junior deluxe suite and the bed and pillows were very comfortable, the bathroom was modern with a good shower and the kitchenette was very useful. Our balcony had a table, 2 chairs and a lounger and overlooked the pool area with the sea beyond. Food at Calabash was very good and we ate there in the evenings a lot. The staff were great, particularly Tremayne. Food service was pretty quick and tables were always cleared and cleaned promptly. There was entertainment most nights - singers, musicians mainly. All were good. Would definitely go back!

Lovely property and friendly, helpful staff. Very clean and well maintained. We had a junior suite which included a full kitchen. Food at on site restaurant was excellent. Beach is spectacular with surf for those who enjoy an active swimming experience. Walking distance to Gap Restaurants - but route has not great sidewalks and not well lit after dark, so you have to be careful.

This is a great resort. The property is older, well maintained, with flowers are everywhere. Our room was excellent, had a kitchen, and a modern bathroom. You could not find a better beach. The beach staff are great. Sandals is next door and you can also access its beach. The hotel has great live entertainment every night near the restaurant. Some negatives The hotel is in an isolated area with few shops/stores nearby. You have to to take a cab to shop or find an alternate restaurant. The food in the hotel restaurant is good but service is slow. If you want a coffee in the morning, you have to wait outside the restaurant for 15 minutes for your coffee which is then delivered in a box which is not needed. The hotel desperately needs a convenience store on site where you can grab a coffee, a cold drink, or a sandwich on the run - even at inflated prices - as time waiting shortens your vacation time. The big negative is the attitude of pool bartenders who are not friendly and make you feel you are bothering them. Bartenders are usually the life of the party. Not these bartenders. They saw us sitting at the bar waiting to be served but they did not do so until we aggressively spoke up. If a large crowd is waiting to be served, they make the drinks for everyone instead of serving customers individually. You therefore have to wait a long time for your bill as your frozen drink slowly melts. The attitude and work habits of the bartenders lets an otherwise great hotel down.

I traveled solo and stayed a week in a timeshare unit. I give the resort an A+ for giving that welcome home friend type of vibe. I celebrated my birthday there also. The staff are really what made the stay most special. Although my unit and ocean view were also spectacular. Miranda at the front desk along with the night auditor, and several other front desk staff were simply the best. Hospitable, informative and helpful. I splurged and did a day pass at Sugar Bay, their sister resort because of the seaweed. I recommend going for the experience and the great lunch buffet. It's another level of luxury but really lacked that home town feel that I found at Bougainvillea. So, there is one little experience that bugged me. I ordered wings from the Calabash restaurant They were an appetizer. I was served the equivalent of 2 wings (cut into 4 pieces) for U.S. $15.00. THAT really gave me sticker shock. I still can't justify that. On another note, the breakfast buffet from there was delicious and a great value. I could go on because the entire experience was unforgettable. I plan to stay there again and again when I return.

Well what can I say!! Barbados your are a beautiful island. But the Bourgainvilla are a beautiful hotel too, and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The staff are amazing and location is perfect, right next door to the sandles resort. The beach is out of this world, so clean. Me and my husband got married at this lovely resort, the staff was amazing and couldn’t do any more to make our day absolutely perfect. Janelle the wedding panner was an absolute diamond, so lovely and mad the whole process to easy. She took care of absolutely everything and i genuinely had nothing to worry about or even critique, she organised everything i wanted and on the wedding day was so attentive. I would 100% recommend coming to stay at this beautiful hotel and if you’re thinking of getting married here do it! I can’t wait to come back to this amazing hotel and island.

I went to this hotel for a 4 day trip with my daughter with the intention of spending most of the time at the beach. The property is lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The beach, however is closed due to a seaweed invasion.They have piles of seaweed on the beach and this problem started in 2020 so they have had plenty of time to address it or disclose this to travelers but they did not. This is false advertising and when I contacted American Airline Vacations to move us to a different property they informed me they would not. In essence it is my problem. I am posting this to warn other travelers as I wish someone had posted a review before this. I would not have booked this hotel if I had known this. FYI most of the hotels and resorts on this side of the island have the same problem so consider booking on the West side of the island if you are planning a trip.
