Maxwell Del Mar Hotel

I recently returned from a week at this charming hotel. I chose it based on the previous reviews so many thanks to those travellers for their entries. My initial impression after the lovely receptionist showed me to my room was, “this is great, it’s like staying at a friend’s house where there is a super guest suite.” The previous five-star reviews are all accurate as is the information on the hotel’s website. I am a female baby boomer and was travelling solo as my husband was unable to join me during this, my fourth, visit to Barbados. I just had to have a week away from the U.K. winter. The Maxwell del Mar was the perfect choice. I felt safe and secure at all times at this hotel and in this neighbourhood. Everything works. Staff are professional and very friendly. Talented professionals in the kitchen and all the delicious food is made from scratch. Very good selection on the menu. Breakfast is included and it was always first-rate. The rum punch served up by Hal, the experienced barman, is the best I’ve ever had. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard. The level of cleanliness is excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels top quality. I was so impressed with the walk-in shower in my room as no water made its way to the bathroom floor. (This is not always the case even in five-star establishments). Yes, it’s on the main road and traffic can be noisy but none of the rooms face the road and you cannot hear traffic whilst indoors. This is offset by the convenience of having the bus stop right outside. This is not a criticism but I was in room 102 which I liked very much but I think it could be somewhat cramped for two guests as most of the room is taken up by the king size bed. I took a look at other rooms and they are more spacious. I am delighted to recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. The place was really clean, convenient location for public transport. One issue, water pressure in the shower was really low.

The space was nice. Did not see housekeeping for the 3 days that I was there. So my room was filled with the smell of breakfast from Day 1

I enjoyed every bit of my stay at the hotel was worth every penny I spent 100/100 to this place I’ll be back next year and I’ll be staying there. With friends this time Big up young man at the front desk he was very polite and the young lady at the restaurant I lover her Them are the reason I’ll be back ❤️❤️🇧🇧🇧🇧

I enjoyed my stay. The staff are very frienly and helpful. I did not enjoy my meal. For the price it seemed a bit steal. Other wise everything else was reasonable.

My stay at Max Well Delmar was lovely, the service from the staff was excellent, they were very kind and helpful. My room was just like what I’ve seen in the pictures. The only down fall was my room was close to the road. Which made it disturbing at nights and early in the morning, due to the high frequency of traffic. I would like to recommend double glazing glass windows and glass for the door. Overall, the experience was great, the room was lovely and I would recommend anyone to stay there.

Booked this hotel for our first trip to Barbados and glad we did. On the plus side, it's only 20 mins from the airport, a short stroll to the beach and bus stop, walking distance to restaurants and to St Lawrence Gap. It's a short bus ride to Bridgetown in one direction and to Oistins (which is not to be missed on a Friday!) on the other. The hotel also has a small restaurant which offers breakfast and lunch but if you fancy a takeaway, the room also has a kettle, microwave and a small fridge/freezer. Rooms are clean and spacious; staff are efficient and friendly. Had a good chat with Hal who makes his own rum punch. On the negative side, noise could be an issue as the hotel is on the main road. It bothered us on the first night but eventually, got used to it. Accommodation in Barbados is not cheap but we found this good value hotel. Hopefully, we can go again!
