Okutama is relatively small, but it has a unique scenery. This hot spring hotel is right next to Hatonosu Station and close to Hatonosu Gorge. It is very quiet and beautiful. The waiters inside are also very gentle. I recommend it.

The location of Shadian is beautiful, but it is difficult to get there. It is best to drive by yourself. The room is large and comfortable, the landscape is beautiful, and the small balcony faces the mountain view and stream. Breakfast and dinner are Japanese and Western style, which is good. The hot springs are inferior and the pool is strangely thin. Such a big hotel but such a small pool, haha.

We booked this onsen hotel while researching for Okutama' stay. Hotel front desk staff very friendly and cheerful, they handle our check in fast and gives detailed information about room and onsen. Also we dont speak and understand Japanese language but they try their best to make us feel comfortable. The room is very clean. We prefer no cleaning of room for our stay but they exchange towels and amenities everyday. Hotel also provide bottle water every day. Yukata is provided too. On our check out day it was raining and they drove us to the train station. We really appreciate such kind act. We hope to return one day and will definitely recommend this accommodation to friends.

I have stayed in similarly priced inns and hotels in the Kanto area, such as Kawaguchiko and Isawa, but this was the best in terms of both facilities and services. I heard that it was renovated 9 years ago, but perhaps because of good maintenance, it didn't feel old at all. Speaking of facilities, it's only a small thing, but the service that was thought out from the customer's perspective was wonderful. For example, the shampoo bottles in the large public bath had the word "hair" written in large kanji (hair) (I have farsightedness, so I can't see small letters in the dark, which always bothers me in the large public bath). After dinner, the restaurant staff saw me off to the entrance, and they put tape on the sliding doors of the guest room toilets to prevent noise, and there were many other things that I felt were wonderful. I thought it must be run by a well-known hotel operator, but when I heard that it was run by a third sector company, I thought it was even more amazing. The hot spring was just the right temperature to stay in for a relatively long time, and the food was of course delicious. The dinner menu will change in March next time, so I would like to stay again in early spring. If I could make one wish, it would be nice if there was a counter bar where I could have a light drink after dinner.

Since I live in Tokyo, I wanted to experience some nature in the city, so I booked a lodging in Hatonosu Valley that I had been to before that had caught my eye. I had a twin bed room and could feel the aura of the trees visible from the room. I went on a weekday, so the bath wasn't crowded and I was able to relax in it. The food was Western-style, served with chopsticks. It was beautifully presented, carefully prepared, and tasted great. I was looking forward to seeing fireflies, but unfortunately it rained! I'd like to try again. The next morning, I went for a walk! It was a place rich in nature, where fireflies seem to live. It was soothing. I'll stay here again.

Seemingly brand new. Amazing view over the gorge. The onsen was very nice. The breakfast was quite nice, Western style, but not overwhelming. They had both drinks and snacks available in vending machines. The lobby was airy, with a deck overlooking the gorge. The hiking path across the river was perfect.
