I was traveling from PA to TN for a conference and Carter Caves resort was mid-way. Thought I'd go off the beaten path and enjoy nature! The room was very comfortable. To me it looked like a recent renovation had taken place. I loved the sage green walls and the beautiful wood panel style flooring. Really enjoyed the porch and having the ability to leave the door open and sit at the desk to catch up on emails. The woods and the caves - surrounding the lodge are old and very quiet and just lovely to walk in. There are some notable sites just within a short walk from the lodge. By far this is the highlight of the trip to the lodge. The caves, the natural rock bridges, lots of interesting geology. Made me wonder what the history is in that area related to indigenous people. I didn't have enough time to stop in the gift shop to see if there was a book I could buy about it. I would have if I could. The food was really great! I was surprised at how much was available for the affordable cost. I had the fish - it was fantastic. Oatmeal for breakfast - which came with lots of fruit. Just wasn't sure what to do with the ketchup. On the way back home I stopped again and had another calming and quiet stay after the hectic pace of the conference. The staff were very friendly and the price was very affordable for the area. I got the senior discount and only paid $80 for one night stay. Thank you Carter Caves staff and the state of Kentucky for the exciting adventure!

We stayed at the Lodge. Let me start with the positives, room was clean and rate was really good. However, we stayed on the lower floor since there was no luggage racks or elevator. Sadly, we could hear everything through the ceiling. It sounded like they were roller skating up there. It’s so bad that I heard them unzip a bag. They desperately need to put some deadening noise barrier in ceiling and walls. My wife had an injuring on one of the trails. A wooden step was loose at one of the bridges and caused her to fall. If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay, this is it. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, better stay on upper floor but you’ll be lacking your stuff up the stairs.

This was our second trip to Carter Caves and our first time staying at the lodge. The woman that checked us in on February 18th (at night) was so nice! She checked us in promptly and she was so friendly. Our room smelled good and was very clean. The beds were comfortable too! The park itself is beautiful. We hiked with our dogs on some of the trails. We visited the gift shop which is very nice! We love that the lodges in Kentucky are pet friendly, since we always travel with our dogs. We ordered all of our meals as carry outs from the lodge restaurant. The food was so good every time, and was always hot and fresh. It's a good deal for the price too. And the people working the restaurant are so friendly. They give you everything you need with your meal and we never had to ask for napkins or ketchup or anything. They never forgot stuff either! It was awesome and so convenient for us! Every single person we encountered working there was so great. Please keep up the good work! We have stayed at many state parks in Kentucky and other states and this one has the best staff we've encountered by far. Can't wait to come back and visit this beautiful place!

My husband and I had a fantastic time last night at Carter Caves. We attended the Illusionist Michael Griffin show with the dinner buffet. He is a great performer with audience participation. The food was excellent, especially the brussel sprouts! Our room at the lodge was very nice. Every part of the evening was very organized. We hope to be there again next year. Thanks again for a lovely evening!

Booked a cottage for me and my two kids. I love this place. The concierge at The Lodge was friendly and helpful. She gave us a packet of maps, and activities to do. Some of the activities are free! Others are very reasonably priced. The most expensive I saw was $22 per person for horseback riding for a 45 minute guided tour. A great place for family!

Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic has affected Kentucky State resorts to such an extent that they've been maligned in many reviews. Across the state restaurants and hotels are having issues hiring people back. And this affects the service. Carter Caves has felt this too. The park is beautiful and still well maintained. The rooms were clean and bathrooms/showers were also clean. It doesn't seem like they're able to offer the usual fine service or hours at the restaurant though. Food that we had was still good- Hot brown top notch, my son really enjoyed the biscuits! We took the Cascade Cave tour and enjoyed it. It was perfect for families even with younger kids. If I could give the park 3.5 stars I would. I just feel that a bit more attention to small details would enhance the ambience,

The campground is very clean!!! The staff makes sure the campsites are clean after each stay. They have a free ice cream social, a shelter dance on Friday nights that the kids and adults love, a night of glow in the dark mini golf and more fun for all ages. I would recommend this campground.

Carter Caves State Park is a beautiful, well maintained park with many outdoor activities. The lodge is very comfortable, from the beds to the bath towels (large and thick to the WiFi. Highly recommend.

The room was nice but was not as clean as it should have been. Definitely needs to be Deep Cleaned!
