Although this is an older hotel, it has some good points. The room size is great, the accessible tub and toilet are well provided with grab bars, and the general location is calm and quiet. Unfortunately, the room directly above us was incredibly noisy until the wee hours, every footstep or roll of a suitcase or rolling desk chair sounded like it was in our room with us (I think a result of the laminate flooring and what sounds like no insulation or sound dampening between floors). Still the price was right and the location very good for our needs on this trip.

We were a little shocked and disappointed that dog (or maybe human?) poo was smashed into the floor along with dog hair. We are allergic to dogs and cats and were miserable the whole time and didn’t know why until we discovered the poo and hair in our last day. If you have allergies to animals, make sure you ask for a pet free room that has not had one of the furry guests in it prior.

I was required to be in town for business purposes. My certification test was being administered at the hotel. I drove in from out of town and booked a room for the night before. It was very convenient to stay in the hotel where I would take my test. Check-in was a breeze and I was able to schedule a Late Check-out in case my testing ran over the scheduled Check-out time.

Had a great weekend relaxing in Olympia. Loved the restaurant and bar area, great vibes. The onion rings were a hit with the family, and they had lots of good spirits and brews to indulge in. The staff was super helpful and friendly.

I learned the morning of my departure to stay at the Olympia Hotel (booked in November 2023) I happened to learn that the hotel was “boarded up” according to an online review on the hotel website (where I was checking on my reservation). After several attempts to communicate with the hotel and (previous?) owner IHG, it was confirmed that it was “permanently closed”. I never got any notice of this situation, and apparently neither did the group whose meeting I was attending, as they had meeting rooms booked there for the conference and were never notified of the closure. Fortunately, I was able to book another hotel as I arrived in Olympia after 9pm at night after a 400 mile drive.
Response from Property: Hi Elissa D, Thank you for choosing to stay and leaving a review of the Olympia Hotel at Capitol Lake! We appreciate you for banking on our hotel for your travel needs. I'm sorry to read about what happened. Your feedback is very important to us. I went ahead and alerted hotel management of your concerns for immediate action. I have also sent you a private message to follow up and gather more details. I am hoping that you can give our hotel another chance so we can earn back your trust! Many thanks, Jonathan A Case Manager IHG Hotels & Resorts Service

I stayed here for business. The hotel has seen better days and is in need of an upgrade. But the room was adequate, and had a microwave and small refrigerator. The bed was comfortable which is the most important thing. And it was quiet. The price beat most hotels. And they threw in breakfast, which was cooked to order and quite good. A whole lot better quality than the buffet offered in similar priced hotels.

Our group of four stayed here overnight after flying into Seattle Tacoma Airport. Very easy to find off the I-5, about 50 miles away, and was a clean and tidy hotel with huge rooms. It had the feel of a conference hotel but is equally a good overnight stop for tourists/ business people. Food in the bar area was of a good standard and staff friendly.

Nice rooms, some obvious wear but signs posted say they are working on improvements. Friendly staff. Restaurant onsite was overly expensive but there are a lot of other options in town not far away. Beautiful views!
Response from Property: Thank you for staying with us! We are starting a complete renovation, soon, and hope you keep us in mind for your future hotel needs!

Some of the features in rooms and conference rooms seem dated and there is a bit of a musty smell sometimes but everything was clean. Other than that, the staff was extremely helpful and offered amazing service. Special thank you to Jessica and the evening team the night of 10/25/2023 when I needed special help.

I loved the easily accessible but secluded location. The room was large and clean and had a balcony overlooking the pool. I was at the hotel to attend a conference, so we barely left the hotel over the weekend. The food at the restaurant was good, as was the food served at the conference banquet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a stay in Olympia and especially as a conference venue.

Front desk was accommodating and staff was polite. We found the bed comfortable and clean, although our room had a musty smell. Hallway carpeting was well past its prime. It's a shame because the hotel itself was beautiful. The hotel bar was very nice, though lonely. The restaurant had a limited menu with few customers, but the atmosphere and view was fabulous. A little effort and a modest investment could return this hotel to its former glory. The price was right, and we will go back the next time we're in town.

I liked the spacious room (a King), but the bare floors turned me off. I like going barefoot at the end of the day, but the floors were cold and sometimes felt gritty. An area rug in front of the sofa and one under the "office" table would have gone a long way for me. This dated hotel has potential to be great again with some aggressive attention to updating things like chipped paint and awkward bathroom arrangements. I was glad my stay was not after one of my surgeries, I'd have had a real problem there. The public areas are likewise in need of some updating, which seems to be currently in process. I will stay again, yes. I will look forward to seeing improvements in this property.
