El Mochilero is a five star hostel, it is clean, there is more than ample space in the rooms, each guest has access to her /his own locker with it's own key where you will find several towels folded in a the manner of five star hotels in a very cute basket, there are also earplugs in each basket. The room I was staying in had four beds and there are two other rooms on the second floor. Very clean bathrooms with a bathtub. But what sets El Mochilero apart from other hostels is that it is family owned by a warm, caring and hospitable family.I felt right at home with Senora Carolina, su mother and her brother Percy.I was hosted as a member of the family and this will stay with me. There is a hearty breakfast served in the morning with orange juice and coffee that will sustain you through the day. I cannot thank enough this family for the way I have been hosted. And I hope to see them again.

I spent a night here with my gf and it was a marvelous experience. They offer a luxurious dinner and breakfast experience that uses locally caught seafood and ingredients that will made your stay very pleasant. Located in a quiet area away from the city's hustle and bustle but still within walking distance from the local station and seaport. The staff were very hospitable and very thoughtful. The room offered a traditional Japanese bathroom with a tub made from cypress that gives a pleasant aroma when bathing. It has a nice outdoor view that you can enjoy from comfort of your own bathtub. The rooms a nicely appointed and have a 5-star experience that you can only experience at this ryokan. I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever visit Onomichi!

I used it for one night with a friend. Considering the price and room quality, it seems to be the best choice nearby. A 1-minute walk from the hostel allows you to enter the east shopping street of Onomichi and the entrance to the Senkoji Ropeway on the same street. It takes about 10 minutes from Onomichi Station to the hostel, but you can get there soon if you walk with the surrounding scenery. The accommodation key can be checked in at another nearby accommodation 'Onomichi Minato Hall'. Check out is finished by putting it in the mailbox under the mansion. You can enjoy Mihara specialty Tako curry for breakfast. The taste and quantity are perfect. The public bath is small for women. It was comfortable because it happened to be put alone. I stayed in a single room with him for one night. The car stopped at a nearby shopping mall parking lot for 700 yen a night.
