Hampton Inn Chicago Orland Park

Excellent hotel. Brand new build and kept very clean by staff. Rooms were very clean and spacious enough and it's in the perfect spot to be quiet at night for sleeping but VERY close to all kinds of food, shopping and entertainment. We stayed for a week and did our own daily housekeeping which is what we prefer but the staff was always available and ready to replace towels as needed and answer questions. It was very nice to have a washer and dryer available to do our laundry since we were on a long road trip. One suggestion regarding that would be to have one more washer and one more dryer; one washer and one dryer alone is not going to be convenient as business grows. One guest complained about the smell of the cleaning agents but it's probably because they were using what smelled like a vinegar solution which is very effective and smells less harsh than bleach. I thought it was a very good smelling hotel and room. The surrounding area is very nice with green grass and plenty of places to walk safely and in peace through a very nice neighborhood behind the hotel. Parking was plentiful, clean and free! I would most definitely stay here again whenever I'm back in the Orland Park area. I only have two suggestions. Move the smoking area to the back of the hotel and as far from the entrance as possible. It's bad enough smelling the cigarette smoke near the front gazebo when trying to relax and enjoy the sunshine but it was even worse when the pot smokers had to add their second hand smoke to the mix. Also there was one gentleman working the evening desk who was not very polite at all. They lock the doors at 2200 hours so you need to use your room key to get in. Although I stayed at this hotel for a week and spoke to many of the desk agents, including this one, he IGNORED me standing at the door when I had lost my key and then when he finally came back out, after making me wait for what he must've thought was long enough, seemed to grudgingly let me through the door and chastise me for not having my key even though I had already told him I lost it and needed to find my wife to get back in the room to get my phone and my ID in order to get another room key. His customer service skills were a bit lacking. However, everyone else who works there that I interacted with throughout my stay were EXCELLENT customer service specialists. I chalked it up to him having a bad night and would still give the place 5 stars.
