Quiet, clean, good price. Could possibly do with a refurb but everything works well. Bed was comfy but squeaky. Great value for money, great for exploring Oxford and just somewhere to sleep. Lots of shops nearby. Would be an hour walk to the centre of Oxford but we just got a taxi which was £11. There was also a bus.

The hotel is located in a convenient location where we can easily commute around the city centre and the Bicester village. Sadia was really nice and helpful. She greeted us with a warm welcome. Rooms were quite small but they are clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great time staying at the hotel.

Stayed with 3 friends for one night whilst attending a concert. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn't find fault with anything. The hospitality was spot on, the lovely gentleman that greeted us was so pleasant, the 3 bed room was perfectly suited to our needs and the beds so comfortable, we all had a great nights sleep. We sat outside in the sunshine for breakfast and what a treat that was, all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. We will be returning at some stage. Great hotel, great staff and wonderful food.

Nice hotel. Staff are cordial but the amenities need to be reviewed and made up to date. No landline to ring the reception for any service needed, had to go all the way downstairs to the reception to make a complaint on a toilet that’s refused to flush. Shower not working, couldn’t flush the toilet until I applied much pressure on the flush handle. Would’ve been great if the amenities are up to date (for the lack of a better word).

I use many different hotels on a monthly basis however this was my first visit at this hotel. I want to congratulate the team at holiday inn Oxford as I had an enjoyable stay and everything was clean and tidy. I was greeted with a warm welcome and although the hotel was busy the staff were very accommodating. The bar staff were very friendly but I would like to especially mention Lauren who served me with a smile and was very efficient considering how busy the bar was. Thank you for an enjoyable experience and I hope to return soon (14/10/22)

We enjoyed the carvery at Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon this weekend. We were a party of 10, with ages ranging from late teens to early 80s. The hotel is lovely, with a warm welcome on arrival from the staff at reception. We sat in the bar for a while as we waited for all of our party to arrive. The bar is welcoming and comfortable and the drinks reasonably priced. At 12:30 we made our way to the restaurant and waited for a while to be seated. This was our first visit to the carvery and it would have been useful for a member of staff to explain the process to us - but we watched what other customers were doing and followed suit. The 3 course lunch is all self service and drinks are obtained from the bar. For starter there was a choice of soup with homemade bread and salad with cold meats. I had the salad and it was very nice, especially the potato salad which was delicious. The carvery was fantastic. With a choice of pork, beef and chicken, potatoes, cauliflower cheese, mixed vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. Unfortunately some of the serving platters were empty when we got there and we had to wait a while for them to be refilled. I imagine this was due to the sitting starting at 12:30 so an immediate rush of people. The beef was absolutely delicious, as were the potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings were truly scrumptious. I understand from one of my guests that the chicken was perfection. The vegetables were undercooked for my taste but the cauliflower cheese was lovely. We had a really great meal. There were a few improvements that could be made to improve the experience but nothing to put me off going back for another family birthday in a few weeks time.

A gem of a hotel. I found this hotel by accident on a google search. The website was easy to use and bonus it's pet friendly! The welcome was very good and the room was spacious and immaculately clean. Tea/coffee in the room and a bottle of water. TV is positioned so that you can comfortably watch it in bed without straining your neck. There is an iron and board in the room too, A large glass of rose wine was only £7.00. Best of all... the Indian food was outstanding as was the service from all the staff. As a customer service trainer for many years I cannot recommend this inn highly enough. I will be back!

Excellent
GGuest Uservery nice boutique hotel with a good bar and restaurant below. The room nice, clean, minimalist but good furniture and decent shower. Only one complaint - if you are not a fan of capsule coffee (and I am definitely not) and you just want a cup of tea, it's a pain to have to google the coffee machine to work out how to use it when just a simple kettle would have been fine. Just 4 for the location because of the chaos at the Botley road bridge which is going on till this time next year at least! Lovely breakfast menu with good service.
SShane.E1988I booked this hotel for a weekend get away foe me and my partner. It was an early birthday treat, i advised the hotel this upon booking and they were fantastic enough to put a banner up and left a few little goodies for her which was amazing, very nice touch. The hotel staff were friendly, polite and courteous. Would definitely look at booking again in the future if we are down that way again.
FFeiermanzhangDrive directly from London Airport to the hotel. The hotel is located in a residential area. The appearance is a submit-detached house. When we arrived, there was a large truck of renovation garbage at the doorway of the yard, which looked a bit messy. Entering the room was still very tidy. It should have just been renovated and looked relatively new and clean. The house is of course an old house with a certain history. The heating and sockets are a bit old. The sockets are arranged near the baseboards of the house, which makes charging awkward. Now everyone has so many electronic devices, it is recommended that the store provide more charging sockets. We booked a family room. The room is large enough. On the ground floor, there is a floor-to-ceiling window leading to the back yard. In summer, there should be a small inner yard with a table for leisure, but we arrived in winter and the yard was not decorated. Breakfast was arranged in a small restaurant in the sun room. The food is relatively rich and the environment is warm. You can communicate with other travelers. The manager and waiter are also very enthusiastic and can do their best to help the guests. The transportation is not bad. We basically walk to the central area, which takes about 20 to 25 minutes. The advantage is that you don’t have to find a place to park, and you can also see the small colleges on both sides along the way. There are not many places to eat around, but there is a small bar about 15 minutes' walk away, which has 1 Michelin star. It is a little expensive, but the food is delicious and the atmosphere is good. Students in the school are discussing business plans, which is a very university atmosphere. You can park on the roadside in front of the hotel, which is convenient. The manager let us park in the small parking lot of the hotel, which makes us feel at home. The small hotel is free and warm, and you can enter and exit with a password at night. Overall, I am quite satisfied. The next two pictures are of the small bar, and the last picture is Zixia on the road at dusk.
GGuest UserBrilliant location very close to town, this was booked for my guys.
Breakfast has a wide selection friendly staff.
The bar is 24 hours.
This time I selected standard family room which was 1 double bed and a sofa bed more than suitable.
Free parking.
I would definitely recommend the best western at Oxford.
WwangmaggieThere is a bus station next to the hotel. It is more convenient to go to oxford center. The room size is okay, with plenty of sunlight, clean, and warm. The view from the window is very good. I saw a little squirrel in the morning, and the children liked it very much. However, after the check-in time is 4 o'clock, the check-out time is 10 o'clock, which is really inconvenient. In addition, the room cleaning will only be provided if the stay is more than 5 consecutive days. We have not cleaned the room for three consecutive days. I think it is not very reasonable and needs to be improved. .
ZZHIJUNThe breakfast at the hotel is very good, it feels like a gentleman and a young man are responsible for reception, dining, health and all work, very good service. The fly in the ointment is that the child has to add extra money, and it is quite expensive. We only had 108 pounds at the original price. Adding a 9-year-old child cost me 110 pounds. I started to feel like a black shop, but gave us a big room, and the breakfast service was very good. (Maybe it's a bit difficult to ask him to serve a white person to the yellow). Look at his dedication, this time Trip.com is dealing with a large number of refunds caused by non-crowns, and I don't think I'm bothered to complain. (Graphic: sunrise at the door)
GGuest UserWe stayed just one night to meet family members for dinner in Oxford.
It is very well located for the city cetre. Despite that, it is in a quiet location and we had a good night's rest in a small but comfortable room.
It lacks the range of facilites that you may want for a long stay. For example, it has no lounge, restaurant or lifts, which is the only reason I could not give 5 /5 for facilites. What facitlities is does have are good: in room tea and coffee making, television, radio and WiFi. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We came by car and used the Park and Ride system, which is excellent. Oxford bus services are good. The hotel is also only a short taxi ride from the station if you go by train.
The hotel was ideal for a short stay and we will use it again.
The first person we fell in love is the manager Daniel Kiss. even we have never got a chance to meet him in person. Very pleasant and helpful with booking our stay. Always replied our email promptly. The second person is his colleague. It’s a shame we never got his name. Very helpful and friendly upon check in. Love smiling ☺️. Helped us retrieve key and open the door to our hotel. The room is very big and clean. It has everything you need inside the room. Even microwave. Plates and utensils. Bathroom is very clean. We stayed at the main floor. Not noisy even our room is facing main road. There’s a bus stop just right in front of the hotel. My husband and I enjoy walking. So We walked all the way to the city center and basically walk as far as our legs can take us. We will definitely go back again and highly recommended. Shame I don’t have any photos of the hotel.
If it was not for the amazing staff, I would have left and asked for full refund. The manager - I believe her name is Ema, and room cleaning lady, they call her Auntie were amazing. She did everything from cleaning the rooms, hotel, and cooking! She deserves a raise. I think the owner is lucky - did not meet him, but here is my feedback directly to him: You ate lucky to have such dedicated staff. Please acknowledge them and reward them. The hotel has a lot of deferred maintenance. No hot or good pressure bathroom water. Beds are old, window does not work, no light bulbs in fixtures, no heating, very cold rooms …. Etc etc May be you are waiting to sell the place. However, I think you should consider spending some money on capital repairs. The breakfast is terrible. Please try your self the Spanish or bacon omelette!
Eellej93We went to visit oxford for a family trip. We arrived at Athena Guest House in the evening where we were left outside in the cold for at least half an hour with elderly grandparents and a baby, while the person there tried to figure out which rooms we were supposed to be staying in. They had ignored previous enquiries my sister had made in the run up to our visit. The lady in charge spoke loudly on the phone and ignored my sister who was trying to ask for help about details she had to fill in. This lady then went on to demand that one person made the payment for the whole group before we saw the bedrooms. It is now clear why, because the rooms were in very poor condition and there was no disability access. The person in our party that is disabled was carried up the stairs and into the property and could not access the sink in her room. I was sent to a different guest house with other members of my party. We were expected to share a bathroom with strangers (during a pandemic), the room was unclean, the floor was peeling, chair ripped and it stank of cigarette smoke. Our fire alarm had been covered in foil to stop the detector working. I refused to share a bathroom with anyone that wasn’t from my party and after this we were moved to a different property down the road from the original house and my entire family, which was upsetting . It still stank of smoke, was still in desperate need of an upgrade and cleaning, the shower was dirty, sky box not working, curtains wouldn’t close fully and the other member of my family had issues with the lock on their door. There was not a single staff member at this property and I felt very intimidated and unsafe. There were people shouting outside the property and banging the doors throughout the night. If I could give them no stars I truly would, it ruined an amazing family trip and left us all very upset. Nothing worse than filthy surroundings and rude/unhelpful staff.
