It is recommended to avoid thunderbolts. It is hard to imagine how such a hotel can be rated five stars. Public environment: The hotel is very small, there is almost no front desk, the corridor is a narrow corridor of only one meter wide, and there is no elevator. Room: We booked an ordinary room and a suite. They are very small. The ordinary room is so small that there is no place to put the luggage. Service: The front desk service we encountered was very poor and neglected people. We were two adults and two children. We were told that the law does not allow more than three people in a room. We were asked to leave one adult and book a room in another hotel (because the hotel was full that night), and they did not agree to my check-out, and did not give any other solutions. As a result, my husband had to go to another hotel on the first night, which was really incredible. However, the service of the restaurant department was still good In summary: It is not worth the price. There must be better choices in Oxford

The hotel has very convenient parking, which is the first choice for self-driving tours. There is a restaurant downstairs, which is also the check-in place. At first, I wondered if I had gone to the wrong place, but when I got to the room, I found it was a different world. The hotel is very warm, with a welcome card and free fresh milk. Every decoration in the room is full of British style, even the paintings on the wall are full of stories about Oxford, and the toiletries are also very exquisite. I love the library downstairs, which feels like a university campus. The hotel is also in a good location, very close to attractions such as the Bridge of Sighs!

It is a very historical house. There is no elevator and the stairs are very narrow. The decoration inside is small, exquisite and clean. The front desk clerk will help carry the luggage to the room and take the guests to visit and explain. The newly decorated room is very warm and comfortable. There is also a thoughtful handwritten welcome card, which makes people feel like they are always home.

The front desk collects a deposit, and the water and milk in the room are free. The front desk guy helps deliver luggage to the room. The restaurant on the first floor has a real fireplace, the fire is burning🔥, it is warm and has a full sense of scope. There is also a library on the second floor

Class service for Harry and Sergio, Harry especially. Top bartender, good craic. Appreciated the service from them both. Good team here overall. Great for a meal or fantastic for some drinks and service. Came with some family and they catered very well for us.

We had a great time staying at the Old Parsonage in Oxford during a weekend away from London. It is centrally located enough to walk to nearby attractions, but just far enough off the beaten path to avoid the throngs of tourists in the city centre. They left a lovely birthday message and some special treats for us upon arrival, and the breakfast the next day was excellent in their serene and art-filled restaurant area. The only downside were the persistent bells ringing at St Giles church, which seemed to be quite interminable at times, but that is only during the day time so didn't affect our sleep. Otherwise a great hotel experience and we will definitely consider staying there again next time we're in Oxford.

Very small pokey room. Barely room for our minimal luggage. Having said that very comfortable bed and pillows. Very quiet. A lovely breakfast each morning. Staff very friendly and nice. Would have liked a non slip mat for showing. Shower over bath and bath very deep and difficult to get in and out of. No hand rails. Front staircase horrendous. Use rear ones. Close to attractions and a couple of nice little pubs.

Where are the staff name tags? Why did the "management" constantly look over the shoulder of their staff? Bread and butter, a side order (5.50 UK pounds for 4 slices)! Cutting the bread at the service station in full view of guests! Main restaurant service staff providing the dessert menu, then not returning to take our order. No guestroom entry door drops (to stop the noise and the light from the corridor bleeding into the room). No proper exhaust system in the bathroom. No separate toilet closet. No shelf in the shower. A light-switching system that would even confuse a lighting specialist.
Response from Property: Dear Ms. Victoria, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. At The Old Parsonage, we pride ourselves on delivering only the very best experience to our guests so we are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectation. Please rest assured that your comment has been shared with our Heads of Department in order to improve our service. Thank you again for your honest review, and we hope to have the chance to provide you with a more enjoyable experience in the future. Best regards, Matylda

This is a review of the Old Parsonage Grill, which is in the Old Parsonage Hotel. We had eaten before in a private room and this time ate in the main dining room. We had a very pleasant dinner here. Everything about it was very good...food, service, atmosphere, decor, etc.

After traveling around England for two weeks and staying in numerous small, classic, historic hotels which catered beautifully to families, the Old Parsonage was the most expensive by at least double, and by far the most disappointing. The full family room is so expensive as to be completely out of budget, so instead chose a triple for our family of three, at over £600 per night. It was air conditioned and clean... and that's about where the positives stopped. The room was very awkward and small, with our kid sleeping on a couch about 3 feet from the foot of our bed. There was no room to place any baggage, so our bags had to be placed on the floor where we stubbed toes and tripped over them constantly. This room should not be considered a triple; it is far too small for that. For the amount of money we paid, the items mini bar (which we were refilled sporadically and sometimes not at all), and the cost of laundry were absolutely eye-popping. At our wonderful hotel in Bath that was less than half the cost for our giant triple room than what we paid in Oxford, we literally paid £20 for an entire bag of laundry. At the Old Parsonage, the cost was £17.50 for ONE SHIRT. Absolutely outrageous. The worst part though was the shower. There is a very weak -- so weak that it might as well not be running at all -- fan in the bathroom, which is controlled at the building level. After taking an under-10 minute long, luke-warm (my choice) shower, the bathroom filled with so much steam that I felt light-headed. So I opened the door of the bathroom to let the steam out... and there was so much steam coming out of the bathroom that it set the fire alarm off. When we went downstairs, I let the front desk know that the steam caused the fire alarm to go off, and the very kind front desk woman assured me they would send someone up to check out the fan. When we came back after a day of exploring, I stopped by the front desk to ask if the fan was fixed. She said that they went up to check and in fact there was nothing wrong with the fan; it's working as intended. I replied that would be unacceptable, as that renders the shower in a £600+ per night room unusable. She went to get someone I assume is a supervisor, and that's when things really went downhill. This woman was so rude, so dismissive, so unsympathetic, and so unhelpful that it was shocking. I explained the issue, and she literally shrugged her shoulders and said, "what do you want ME to do about it?" I blinked and reminded her how much I'm paying to stay in a room with essentially no shower, and she again shrugged her shoulders and stared at me. There was no offer of any help whatsoever, or any compensation for the outrageous price we were paying. Nothing. Finally, because I wouldn't go away and kept pressing the case, she snapped, "FINE, I'll send up housekeeping!" and stormed away. The incredibly sweet other woman I'd been mainly talking to told me apologetically that she'd call me when they were on th
Response from Property: Dear Allora23, thank you for taking the time to provide your detailed feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay. As a listed building since 1660, we strive to maintain our historic charm while providing modern comforts. We understand that our standard triple rooms may not always offer the space and convenience you need for a family stay. For future visits, we recommend considering our Superior Deluxe or Junior Suite options, which offer more generous room sizes and additional amenities to better accommodate families. We also encourage guests to review room dimensions on our website to ensure the best fit for their needs. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve our services. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience and dissatisfaction you experienced.

The Old Parsonage Hotel exceeded expectations for a week+ visit. A quiet, tastefully appointed and spotlessly clean room filled with many thoughtful touches. Food at the associated restaurant was excellent. Staff was lovely, and kudos to Jack who resolved a room service issue. As other reviewers have noted the hotel is a gem in an excellent location within walking distance of downtown Oxford. Highly recommend!

A hidden gem in the heart of Oxford, offering a luxurious room furnished to the highest standard, amazing food and consistently attentive staff. We stayed in the Randolph suite, which was so perfectly finished there was not a hair out of place. A huge comfy bed, air conditioning and beautiful soft furnishing. We had afternoon tea on the terrace, which great value and very tasty. In the evening we had dinner, again on the terrace under the huge heated umbrellas. The food was great, I had the rabbit pie and my partner the monkfish, both of which we great, the staff were attentive and friendly. I had a named parking space and there were 2 EV charging points at the property. We will definitely be back!
