La Cite Hotel

We've just returned from a fabulous week at La Cite. By modern standards it is a basic hotel but what it lacks in modern facilities it more than makes up for in friendliness and great service. On arrival Janetta Sat us down and introduced herself and asked our names. She then explained everything about the hotel, the bar, dining room, breakfast times etc, etc. Our room (24) was on the second floor overlooking the garden and pergola and with views over the town and the sea in the distance. We had a good view of the mountains on the main part of the island. The balcony is a little on the small size but we could both use it comfortably. Our room was smaller than we are used too these days, but in our early visits to Greece this type of room was pretty normal. However, there was plenty of storage with a comfy bed, air conditioning included and also a safe was provided, along with a telephone. Overall, the hotel is selflessly clean and we'll maintained. The bathroom was small but functional. We struggled a little but managed. The room was well decorated and spotlessly clean and we had daily room service. Being an older hotel, there are no USB charging points so be sure to bring adaptors to charge your phone's or tablets. There is a comfortable lounge downstairs where you can relax with a drink from the bar. The bar will stay open as long as there is someone drinking! Breakfast has bread, cheese, cold meat, croissants, cheese pies, fruit, yoghurt and cereal. There are cooked options available at a supplement. During the day there are light meals and snacks available at a reasonable price and the quality is good. Drinks at the hotel bar are well priced too with a pint of Mythos costing 5 Euros, a cocktail 10 Euros and a bottle of wine around 10 Euros. The swimming pool and gardens are immaculately maintained and there are more than enough singers for all the hotel guests. There are showers available to use in the pool area too. Janetta and her staff are so friendly and all of them will get to know you by name. You will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend, nothing is too much trouble for them. The main square of Lixouri is literally an easy 5 minute so there are no issues for anyone with mobility issues. It has a laid back atmosphere and there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from.I We have visited Kefalonia many times but this is the first time we have stayed in Lixouri. We have fallen in love with this lovely town and it's people and have already booked another stay at La Cite for 2025.

Just had 17 nights at this lovely Hotel. The reviews are all correct, it is a wonderful Hotel, made even better by the fantastic staff. We were greeted with a smile on arrival and everytime they see you. Yes the rooms are a little on the small side but, clean with ample storage space. Janeta, Thekla , Tasa and Roula at Breakfast will do their upmost to make sure you enjoy your holiday. Breakfast is limited but always fresh and enough. The staff know everyone's first name and you are treated like a member of the family. The owners are very nice people too and always smile and chat with you. Pool area is great and there are ample sunbeds without the need to be throwing towels on them before breakfast. Location is great being just a 5 minute stroll to the main square. Loads of places to eat on the square and surrounding streets. Already booked for 2025. Thank you to everyone at La Cite for helping us enjoy our holiday as much as we did. You will not be disappointed staying here.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped with a daily maid service. The grounds are spacious with a well maintained lawn, a strikingly modern designed covered terrace for shade and of course a good sized pool and plenty of sunbeds and seating. Breakfast facilities are typical of the region and food is also available during the day. Restaurants and the main square are a few minutes walk at a leisurely stroll. Last but not least, the staff are absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to La Cite, but not to Lixouri. We came with two friends for a four-night break. We had high expectations after reading some of the amazing reviews, and our expectations were, if anything, exceeded. On arrival, we were given a very warm welcome from Thelki, who always has the biggest smile on her face. Janetta was equally friendly and helpful, as were all the staff. What a great team they are! We had two rooms on the second floor (28 and 29). Room 28 had a view across town towards the sea. Rooms are simply but tastefully furnished, and the bathroom has everything you need. Everything was spotlessly clean. The pool and garden areas are immaculate, with the gardener being in constant attendance. There is an impressive pergola in the garden, which adds a modern twist to this traditional hotel. Breakfast is perfectly adequate, with plenty of choice and with hot options available at a supplement. We didn't eat lunch as we had hired a car, so we're out all day. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential part of Lixouri, but it is only a short walk to the square/town where there is a good choice of bars and tavernas. We enjoyed seeing local children playing in the square in the evenings. We ate at Zefki, Tsibibo, and Avli and had excellent cocktails at the Corner Bar. (They have a Happy Hour from 4pm to 8pm where all cocktails are 7 euros). The Loft Bar was great for cocktails too. There is a municipal beach directly in front of the Summery Hotel, but we preferred to use Lepeda beach a couple of kilometres away, which has a great taverna and good snorkelling We loved La Cite, and it comes as no surprise that guests return here year after year! We are now on day 4 of 7 and can echo all of the previous comments. The staff make this hotel and the facilities are perfectly adequate. What I like most about the hotel and area is its authentic Greek .Our room 30 overlooks the fields with the locals houses across the road and the gardens are full of lemon trees and vines .The hotel pool and gardens are immaculate and the breakfast is simple but healthy and filling .This place ticks all my boxes for a laid back relaxing holiday for the over 50s .

Fabulous hotel. Staff are the friendliest people you could ever meet, you are always greeted with a smile and a bit of banter. As for facilities just read the previous reviews, they say it all. Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday a five star experience

What can we say .. an excellent Holiday .. Great Little Hotel .. Rooms have everything you need for a Holiday .. Comfortable bed .. small but functional Bathroom .. Plenty of Storage space .. Free Air-Con and safe .. Beautiful pool and Gardens .. 5 mins from Main square .. But the holiday was made by all the Staff .. cleaners .. cooks .. gardener all excellent .. Massive Thank You to Jeanetta and Thekla who went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful holiday .. first time in Kefalonia will not be the last .. looking to book the Hotel again next year .. thank you to everyone Lynn and Peter x

Just spent a lovely week at La Cite a wonderful little hotel. Our room and balcony where small but spotlessly clean with a garden view, the room had TV , air con, kettle , safety deposit box , hair dryer etc. Breakfast was simple ( cooked items availed at a charge) but plentiful, the garden was beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was also lovely, I used it a lot which is rare for me! Lastly a special mention to the staff, Theki, Jeanette, Dora, Roula and every one else who where wonderful ! The friendliest place I have ever stayed, a very big thank you for a faultless week.
