Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel, an IHG Hotel

First off, I'd like to give a shout-out to the night shift front desk person Tony. He was very courteous and thoughtful in helping me on my arrival day (12 midnight) and assisted with all my needs. Thank you Tony for your efforts! For the hotel in general, it seems the place is understaffed but I believe that is how other hotels operate nowadays post COVID. The location is great and is right in the middle of where I want to be north and south of Bay Area. Many rental car locations nearby so I was able to get to one within 10 mins radius. For the room, I stayed in the king bedroom pool side with patio. The bed was very comfortable and clean. However, the downside was that the connecting room doors were paper thin, and the gap between the door and the floor was more than an inch high, so I could pretty much hear every word the person was saying in the other room. They need to fix that or else guests really don't have any privacy at all. I apologize to the couple in the room next to me because I was on a call at 3am in the morning and didn't realize I had woken them up until they started talking and I knew how bad the sound isolation was. After that, whether it was day or night time, I had to resort to whispering all my conversations because I knew people could hear me in the other rooms.
Oak Motel

Breakfast is very simple. There is only one coffee table and sofa in the room. There is a parking room. The room smells. It may be a smell. There is hair on the bathroom towel. It may be because it is cheap. The occupancy experience is not good, but it is really cheap compared to other local residences.
Dinah's Garden Hotel

We go to Palo Alto regularly for visits to Stanford and typically stay in one of the chain hotels. Thought we’d change it up and stay somewhere different. Dinah’s filled the bill! So cute! It’s an older hotel, but that just adds to the charm! We stayed in a deluxe garden room. The room was huge and had the most quaint little patio. It was so calming to hear the water outside and to see the koi and ducks. The room was clean and had all of the standard amenities. And, bonus, we were able to bring our dog! They even have a cute little dog park on the premises! We will definitely stay there again!
The Westin Palo Alto
4.3/5101 Reviews
THE GOOD: The hotel was recently renovated, rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms. A nice size fitness center and a small but nice pool area. THE BAD: Wifi was absolutely horrible, there was ZERO wi-fi service in the lobby, restaurant or pool area. The Wi-fit would connect for 2 - 3 seconds then drop. When I asked the attended at the café if I could use the Westin Meeting wi-fi I was told no, they don’t have the password. In my room every so often the wi-fi would drop and it would take 20 – 30 minutes to reconnect!!! Furthermore, the power outlet at the desk was dead, there was also no power near the bed to plug in your laptop! Sadly, the food and beverage offerings at this hotel are on par with a Holiday Inn Express. There is no full-service restaurant, just a grab and go café which serves mediocre food. There is a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with poor quality food. On both mornings of my stay the scrambled eggs were a rubbery mess, the breakfast potatoes lacked flavor. The only item that seemed decent to eat were the fresh berries and bread. The quality of the food from room service/grab and go was also upsetting. If you want a full-service dinning experience, you are told to walk over to the Sheraton…. really? BTW: I was told the hotel kitchen is also located at the Sheraton, food is not cooked onsite at the Westin. Hospitality at the hotel is hit and miss. The front desk seems pleasant, but staff were very hesitant to go the extra mile to please… they lacked the hospitality soft skills I have experienced at other hotels of the same caliber. Café staff is very unhelpful, not very friendly, I receive a far better guest experience at my local In-N-Out Burger. In the end if you are expecting an upscale hotel experience in the Palo Alto / Stanford area the Westin disappoints. For the price I would expect a memorable experience, one where you would hate to leave and could not wait to return. During my stay I was looking forward to leaving, I really felt like it was a waste of $$$ and time staying here. When I left, I felt like I had just stayed at a Holiday Inn express with upscale rooms. Hotel should be rebranded... it's not an upscale full service hotel that is about hospitality with a mindset of wellness.
Stanford Motor Inn

This is an old-fashioned motor inn in the heart of Palo Alto. It has pet friendly rooms for $30 extra, which is cheaper than other places we looked at. The room was small but sufficient, and was very clean. The bed was comfortable but the pillows pretty flat.. The staff were friendly. The location was in walking distance to restaurants. There was no breakfast to speak of, just prepackaged pastries. If you have a dog, you have to walk a couple of blocks to get to some grass. All in all this was a great place to stay on our trip.
Creekside Inn
4.2/5107 Reviews
What a pleasant surprise! We traveled to the area for a medical appointment. I am a light sleeper and was looking for a place to stay that was not directly on busy El Camino Real. The Creekside Inn is a sprawling property with lots of character. It’s comprised of many buildings overlooking beautiful trees, flowering plants, and a (currently dry) creek bed. We had a deluxe king room that was scrupulously clean. The mini refrigerator and microwave were nice touches. The king bed was super comfortable, and the large shower in the bathroom featured a rain head shower head with great water pressure. We had a large patio overlooking a serene courtyard. Best of all, there was no traffic noise! I was disappointed that the deli onsite was closed on Sunday when we arrived, but there were several restaurants within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I can say is that the doors to the rooms are quite heavy so you can hear your neighbors coming and going. I’ve already booked my next reservation and this will be my new go-to
