The perfect stay in Atitlan. We loved the Balam Ya villas so much. The grounds are breathtaking and waking up to the volcano view every morning was unbeatable. We stayed in the Villa Loft, which is the smallest villa but the room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The hotel is peaceful and quiet. We ate lunches/dinners at some other nearby hotels which were nice, but we continuously said how grateful we felt to be staying in a more tranquil and private setting. A huge thank you to Marvin who welcomed us to the property, provided a comprehensive check-in, and was available via Whatsapp for our every question. Marvin also connected with David, our tuktuk driver, who offered door to door service each time we went into town, and was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the town! Definitely use David's services if you stay here! Last thing I will mention is that the hotel is located on a steep incline, which makes coming and going tiring if you go by foot. It's also a 10 minute drive from Panajachel. Thanks to David's tuktuk service, we were rarely climbing up to the road ourselves. However, it is not an accessible property.

We had a great time in Panajachel at Balam Ya. Our villa overlooked the lake and the volcano. A fantastic setting and a beautiful place. The reception desk will arrange for your tuktuk to go onto town, and to return using what’s app, about $8 for two people, they will have ladies come in and cook breakfast for you if you like- about $8 for two, can do laundry, it is wonderful! Heads up- the driveway is extremely steep and everything requires stairs. This resort is built into the side of a mountain- literally. It has fantastic gardens, and like activities, for agile people. I ran the steps and driveway in the mornings for exercise and it was perfect for me. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Can’t say enough. Perfect location, great hospitality. - shout out to Marvin for being so helpful- beautiful views. Fresh breakfast prepared every morning. Tuk tuks organised and assured no price gouging that happens sometimes in town. Highly recommend B’ALAM Ya. For the lift, the smallest room, there are steps. But tuk tuks dropped off to front door every night.

In search of a much-needed sabbatical, I booked Jade villa for 10 days. Despite being the “rainy season,” the weather was perfect, allowing me to enjoy all of the calm and gorgeous outdoor spaces on the property. The staff is delightful—so friendly and always excited to provide assistance. The villa amenities are luxurious. While there, I booked two in-villa massages (highly recommend!) and an in-villa típico breakfast, which was delicious. I also enjoyed visiting many of the nearby villages. If you’re looking to visit Lake Atitlan, stay at Villas Balam Ya!

Un hotel muy interesante. Se compone de cabañas bien decoradas con espléndidas vistas al lago Atitlán. El hotel está un poco aislado. Está a las afueras de Panajachel y el acceso es difícil. No tiene restaurante y el desayuno lo prepara una señora en 15 minutos en la cocina de la propia cabaña. Para visitar Panajachel es preciso tomar un tuktuk (unos 25 quetzales o 3 dólares). El hotel dispone de muelle para acceder al lago (por unos 70 dólares se puede contratar un barco para visitar Santiago u otro pueblo). Pese a estas peculiaridades lo recomiendo porque no tiene precio ver desde un sitio tan acogedor amanecer y atardecer con vistas al lago y con los volcanes de fondo. Por otra parte el encargado (Marvin) es una persona amable que te gestiona eficazmente los traslados y las comidas en el hotel

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villas B’alam Ya and we would highly recommend to other travellers. The villas are located on an idelic bit of Lake Atitlán with beautiful gardens. Our cottage was beautiful decorated as well as very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was was very well equipped and we really enjoyed using it. The breakfast was very tasty and it was great being able to use the villa’s kayaks and paddle board. The staff are very friendly and helpful and really helped make our stay here so great.

Our "treehouse" was artfully and authentically decorated and comfortable. Amazing view of the lake and volcanos. Private chef "Jose" was an extra special treat for a private dinner in our villa. Super staff accommodate any questions and make arrangements. Highly recommend!
