Quirky place with high standard. It must have been a challenge to run a hotel in such an old building. My bathroom was freshly updated in a modern theme and worked to perfection. The bed was comfy and had a interesting frame. Nothing wrong with it but at some point in its life it must have had a water accident. It did not affect my sleep. We did not dine in nor did i have breakfast. It was a bit to expensive

Having heard they were famous for their steaks, we took our steak-craving kids here for a birthday meal. The food certainly didn't disappoint - though it's definitely not cheap. My wife and I shared a Chateau Briand and it was totally delicious. If you're a steak lover, I can highly recommend it.

A bit tired/shabby. Hotel looks like it needs a major makeover. Outside was in need of a good paint . Gardens have so much potential but scruffy. Just seemed lack in investment. Room smelt damp. Iron broken. Cold corridor. Again felt lack of investment and a good spruce up needed. The steak restaurant had two couples dining. Steaks are very expensive so you will pay min £35 plus extras plus service so the dinner meal didn’t hardly touch the high price. Steaks were fine. Bar again tired. Breakfast ok. So overall. Would I return. No. Not until makeover Lady at reception wasn’t the happiest !! And some rooms with karma sutra on walls I found odd and some would find offensive. Overall. Invest in the place !!

Had a quick overnight stay, hotel in the heart of Pangbourne, nicely laid out with modern bar and different seating areas, restaurant looked appealing too, although we arrived too late to eat. Very pleased with good sized room, attractive decor, huge bed, nicely decorated bathroom with bath. Very enjoyable breakfast with kippers! Excellent value for money, would defo stay here again.

Had a lovely few days at this small friendly hotel right in the heart of Pangbourne. Staff went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, especially the Receptionist and Emma in the bar. Breakfast was good and we had a lovely room with a big comfy bed. Special thanks to the hardworking housekeeping team, Baylee, Chloe and Kasia who kept our room immaculately clean and tidy and made sure we had everything we might need. We would definitely recommend.

Stayed overnight for work. Good: very nice and efficient girl for check in; comfortable bed; very good shower; nice tea/coffee/shampoo etc; large TV; room decorated nicely; good price; good breakfast service Poor: Cold room at night and morning; loud intermittent plumbing noises all night affected sleep; road noise; small carpark

The room was nicely decorated and clean and the bathroom was modern and had a great shower. The issue was with the bed. Hard headboard and soft pillows so couldn't get comfortable. The legs jut out and kept walking in to them. Fell out of bed twice whilst asleep due you soft mattress with little support. Cooked breakfast was good but had to ask for everything including salt and pepper and milk for hot drinks which were not hot. The single member of staff serving us was quite supportive sullen and had ridiculous understanding us.

I came to stay here for the weekend with my partner as we were attending a wedding in the area. Aside from the fact that this hotel is very tired and over priced for what they offer there is only one particular reason I feel I need to leave a review today. Coming back from the wedding we decided to have a drink in the bar before retiring to bed. My partner was the victim of an unprovoked attack in the bar where he was forcefully thrown through a glass door. While I do not hold the hotel responsible for the actions of one violent individual I do have to say I am incredibly disappointed with their response to the incident. At the time of the incident happening the staff at the hotel were more concerned with cleaning up debris than with the wellbeing of my partner who was upset, scared and traumatised. A first aid kit was provided but it was left to another hotel guest to attend to my partner while I was on the phone with the police. I can say that hotel staff did at least let police review cctv of the incident, but throughout the whole ordeal not one member of staff asked my partner if he was ok or offered any assistance. My partner was not ok - after an awful A&E visit to check my partner did not have internal bleeding in his head we were at least able to get back into the hotel in the early hours of the morning. Again no one came to check on my partner and the only acknowledgment we had from hotel staff was upon me asking to speak to a manager at check out. I was told the manager was not in work and was asked to provide our numbers so he could be in touch with us the following day. This has not happened. I can only again express my incredible disappointment that this matter has not been given more attention. Throughout this whole experience I have to say I would have been satisfied if at least one person had shown the slightest bit of care towards my partner. I would not feel safe returning to this hotel and I think all future patrons should be aware that they should not expect any help or concern from hotel staff should they fall victim to a violent crime.
