Had always heard good things about this resort so my girlfriends and I were excited to book a spa weekend. The grounds and beach are gorgeous and the staff were very friendly especially at the spa and Cedars restaurant. The spa itself is amazing and clean but was very busy when we attended with 24 other people in the grotto. With that being said, I would not go back to this resort simply because it caters to spa guests and family guests as well. All 3 of us were woken up both Saturday and Sunday morning by the two rooms of families next door who were crashing around and whose children cried all weekend. When you’re travelling 20+ hours from off-island and paying over $1000 for a relaxing weekend of 2 nights hotel, the use of the grotto, a massage and one tapas dinner, being woken up at 7am by screaming children is not acceptable. If you’re looking for a relaxing spa weekend look into booking at Sparkling Hill in the Okanagan where breakfast and the spa pools and sauna are included, there’s no automatic gratuities and you’ll get a good night’s sleep.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Tigh Na Mara. The spa was so relaxing. The food at Cedars was very good. We loved the location, for walks on the beach and trails near by. Staff was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the mini golf down the road several great restaurants in the area.

We loved the resort as a whole and the cabins look lovely from the outside and are well spaced out with lovely decks to sit on. But we were disappointed with the standard of accommodation/furnishings and cleanliness for the price we paid in the 1bedroom dog friendly cabin. We realize dog friendly accommodation is never quite as good as the rest and understand that, but for the price we paid we’ve had a much higher standard elsewhere. The cabin was very basic and cramped. It was hard to sit around the dining table because there was no space, the bathroom is absolutely tiny, and there is no space around the bed to even open a suitcase without putting it on the bed. The sofa/futon was very loudly creaky and very uncomfortable (to the point as someone with a bad back I couldn’t sit on it), and although things looked clean at first glance (i.e freshly vacuumed, mopped, clean toilet etc) if you look closer deep cleaning is really needed under and behind things, for example there were piles of saw dusty looking dirt and cobwebs on the cabin walls behind the toilet and very large black ants crawling around. I also feel like there should be full size glasses, mugs, and soup/cereal bowls instead of teeny tiny almost kid-sized ones which were inconvenient to drink/eat from. Overall we and our dogs enjoyed our stay because of the location but we probably wouldn’t stay here again because of how basic the accommodation was.

A group of 9 of us went for a birthday celebration. The Grotto spa experience was underwhelming & disappointing, A year ago when I went to the pool my hair & skin felt soo smooth, I didn't experience that at all this time. I was cold wadding in the mineral pool waiting for space to open up in the hot tub. There was also an $15 extra charge at the end for using the pools. When asked about that the front desk girls explained its for the people who served us at the pool. Nobody served us at the pools. Afterwards we ate tapas & the food was AMAZING, I still think about it. However there were a lot of issues with the service, the organization of it, & the 2 hour tapa experience turned into 4 without us realizing (no clocks, no devices, no notification from staff). Fortunately I emailed Tigh-Na-Mara the experience & the director took the feedback genuinely & is implementing numerous changes & discussions to improve the service & compensation for our overall experience. Overall it turned into a 6 hour event which we hadn't even realized till way later in due to the no phone policy, & no clock, ended with extra charges, staff tracked down in the changerooms to collect our bills. It was all very odd. I get the girls at the front - they're likely high school kid at their first job, new to the world in a small town. Food - worth 100%. The experience to get it was chaotic.

The bed was great, had an awesome sleep. However, I was woken up at 8:30AM from housekeeping crashing around furniture and slamming cabinets in the next unit. Then when we checked out, we were surprised with the rate being $200 per night more expensive than we were told during booking. That was a huge kick to the gut. I would never have booked this room for $400+ dollars a night, I left feeling so defeated. I felt tricked, cheated, and taken advantage of. The Grotto Spa was lovely, we had a relaxing time. We would return for the spa, but the hotel experience was one of the worst I have ever had.

We stayed in one of the newly renovated ocean view suites so only apply this review to those. I have no idea about the cabins. The suite was a one bedroom, super clean, nice rustic styled but new furniture, gas fireplace, great king mattress, shower and bathtub, full kitchen with most everything, two tvs with cable and a gorgeous view. The only surprise was we booked here because of the advertised spa which turned out to be expensive to use for a two hour time limit so we didn’t. The area is a hikers paradise and that’s why we were there and Tigh Na Mara was a great place to relax and recharge at night.

I did not stay at the resort but went to the Cedars restaurant for dinner. I was a single woman and the front desk hostess was great to accommodate me without a reservation. The dinner was great. But one of the male servers( not my server) felt a need to chat with me as I was the only one there. But I would have appreciated less one on one as I am fine on my own. Otherwise a great restaurant.

The resort is beautiful and comfortable; the staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my visit and would have loved to stay longer and try the spa. The cabin we stayed in was comfortable; felt like home. Especially the fireplace which made for cozy place to sit and enjoy a meal and watch tv.
