Went for Dirty Dancing weekend. Had a blast with all the activities and enjoyed the lodge and grounds! We stayed in the Dorland. The room was clean and beautiful with a fireplace and a porch to watch the wildlife and take in the view. We took a gator tour up to the overlook which was worth it and lots of fun! The food was pretty standard buffet food, but was good and there were a lot of options. Would love to go back on a weekend when there isn’t an event to enjoy the farm to table food! Checked this off my bucket list, but would go back for a visit in a heartbeat!

We did a girls trip to MLL last weekend for the Dirty Dancing weekend. It was magical! The hotel grounds were absolutely amazing and so relaxing! We stayed in the main stone lodge so we didn’t have AC (not that we needed it in October) a TV or a refrigerator so keep that in mind if you have children or take a cooler with and use the ice machine in the hallway. Our room was squeaky clean and they even had extra comfortable blankets for that cool mountain air! The main stone lodge also does not have an elevator so also take that into consideration when booking and since I’ve seen a few negative reviews on here, I’m going to address those here: if you are looking for a 5 STAR ROOM/CABIN at a Hilton or something of that sort, you’ll be disappointed here and you’ll more than likely write a horrible review later… BUT… if you are there to experience the magic of a true masterpiece of originality and nature of historial significance for maintaining over 2000 acres of protected land and wilderness along with the DD film locations, a great time with your friends and family and a wonderful opportunity to LEARN about this historic place, then this is the weekend/place for you!!!!! Everything for our stay was all inclusive with our package. 2 buffet dinners, 2 buffet breakfasts and one picnic lunch. Everything was magnificent! The activities were also included with our package. The cool thing was you had plenty of options with different times to do things if you wanted to do all, you could. If you wanted to do a few then chill in your room, you could also do that. We opted for the $29 extra tour with Mountain Lake Lodge Excursions and Bo and Mike were AMAZING. We had booked the 3:45PM tour that didn’t interfere with any of the other DD activities that were planned for us for the day. It ended up that no one else booked for that time so it was just the three of us on another “girls” adventure! Bo gave us so much history and information on the place and how it is still prospering today due to their amazing ability to adapt to changes and demands decade after decade and after the lake “disappeared”. Not to mention we were able to see the very top of the mountain with the most spectacular views and it was my personal favorite part of the weekend! So if you’re looking for a magical place to spend some time enjoying nature and exploring with your friends or family DO IT! If you want to take a girls trip to do a Dirty Dancing weekend, DO IT! This is truly a diamond in the rough! Thank you MLL for an amazing weekend 💃🏻 🕺🏼

This is a beautiful historic property that has transformed itself from being centered around a mountain-top lake that eventually dried up to a much more diverse outdoor venue attractive to couples, families, and travel groups. The food, prepared with mostly locally sourced ingredients, is delicious, although a bit pricy. For example, breakfast might be buffet only, priced at $24 per person. Not every guest would view this as a value meal. However, Mary’s Market offers a breakfast biscuit or muffin and coffee for those with a smaller appetite.

Everything was wonderful from check in till check out! We loved doing the self guided Dirty Dancing walking tour and scavenger hunt! The buffet breakfast was also amazing - such a vast array of offerings. We can’t wait to go back again, and stay longer!

Our room was very comfortable and very clean. We really enjoyed the sip and paint. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I liked staying in the main lodge. It was nice to be able to just walk down the hall for meals. The front desk employees were very kind and patient.

It is a beautiful and histgoric place and we have been 3 times in a year. Liked staying in the Lodge better than Virginia Cabin because it was a long walk carrying our things to the cabin. Dinner in the Harvest room was delicious. It is a unique experience and we will definitely go again. Summer is great with the swimming pool and outdoor eating and bar available. Fall is beautiful and the hiking is amazing. Winter is magical with the little skating rink and beautiful lighting. We would be bringing our family again this year if they offered the New Years Eve package again. It IS rustic and not alot of help carrying bags etc. Not a resort but we do love it.

This was a bucket list trip. We went in the fall of 2024. It rained most of the time thanks to Hurricane Helene but we had a good time walking the path and seeing so many of the places where parts of the movie were filmed. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the restaurant was fabulous! Room was remodeled and clean.

I took my Board to Mountain Lake for our first retreat. The setting was perfect. There were many areas for small group chats. The conference rooms were excellent. The natural beauty was beyond compare. The team building programs were excellent.

We stayed at the Main Lodge during the remnants of Hurricane Helene - despite the pounding rain and winds, we enjoyed a tremendous time of relaxation, great food, and excellent service. A truly luxurious place to "get away" and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
