Roundthorn Country House & Luxury Apartments

This is a really good quality hotel, excellent staff. We were given a free upgrade to an Apartment. Excellent breakfast.

We went with friends, and shared a 2 bedroom apartment, which was excellent. The bedrooms and bathrooms are finished with good quality materials, and the communal area is comfortable and a good place to relax. Cooking facilities are fine but slightly limited. There is a terrace at the back with nice views. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is mixed: lovely views, but Penrith (5 miles away) is not the most interesting of Lake District towns. Overall a very good experience.

Beautiful hotel in stunning countryside with gorgeous views over Cumbria. Fabulous and modern decorated rooms, warm and cosy. Staff were so amazing and welcoming. Food was 1st class. Can’t wait to go back.

We have just returned home after 2 night stay in the 2 bedroom self catering apartment at Round thorn Country House. From booking the apartment, to checking out after our stay, the whole experience was straightforward and all the staff extremely helpful and lovely. The apartment was spotless, warm , comfortable and our only problem was that we couldn't stay longer. We had one breakfast and one dinner in the hotel and the food was really well cooked and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Round thorn sits high above Penrith with lovely views all round. Complete silence all night. Would recommend to anyone.

Just enjoyed a very delicious pan Asian supper here tonight. The duck starter was divine and good easily have been a main course. I had sweet and sour chicken to follow and my friend had the salmon. Beautifully presented and served by very attentive waitress. Highly recommend and great value.

Gorgeous location, even better staff, rooms and service. The food served is absolutely fantastic! Very clean and just a lovely place to stay. We were made to feel really welcome, like they'd known us years [it was our first visit, we will be back] and we couldn't name any improvement that could be made. A+++. Thank you :)

Everything was amazing from start to finish. Excellent staff, location - we can’t wait to come back!

Food and service were excellent. Comfortable room, but stairs very narrow. Headroom an issue because of low ceilings in places. Very windy the evening we were there and it felt we were in a “wind tunnel”. Not a problem for us, as we were v. tired. Would definitely stay again.
