Premier Inn Merthyr Tydfil

Stayed here while working in the town centre, a short drive to get to the hotel but worth it, as gets you out of Merthyr a bit. Clean and comfortable hotel, staff good, typical Premier Inn standards. Would not be my first choice to go back to, as not much close regarding restaurant, the on-site table table was very ordinary.

I particularly like the staff at a Premier Inn Merthyr Tydfil who are friendly and welcoming and always willing to help. The rooms are spotless and the beds very comfortable. I would stay here again.

The hotel is "tired", decor a bit tatty. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room is fine for 1 night and the bed comfortable, but needs more facilities for a longer stay, a fridge for example would be useful, if only to keep some fresh milk for tea, but the lack is a feature of the Premier Inn chain, not just this hotel. There was only 1 hand towel in the room and while the staff immediately supplied a second when asked, they knew a couple were occupying the room so why not just supply 2. The breakfast is in the pub in the same.grounds as the hotel but separate. Its tasty and good value but too few staff made it a little slow and chaotic. Bar service in the.evening is OK but during the day is very slow, again because there are too few staff. Overall it was OK but we won't be rushing back

We stayed here in August 2024, and were warmly welcomed. Receptionist informed us about the meals deals, and booked the restaurant for us. the restaurant is just opposite the hotel and food was basic but great. Perfect facility for hiking Pen-y-fan as a family, nice rooms to come back to. About a 14 min drive from the mountain . After having 2 people having 5minute showers, the bathroom was boiling and the walls were dripping. it took the whole day for the extractor to cool it down! One point to mention is although we stayed here in a heatwave, it was very hot in the room as they have no air conditioning whatsoever just a fan . The window opens slightly but that’s it. In the reception , they seemed to have air conditioning so not sure why none in the rooms. Upon arrival home, we realised that there was another premier inn nearby that has air conditioning and seems more modern! Something to note is this is one of the more older premier inns, but overall people are friendly , hotel is clean and you get what you would expect from a premier inn! 😊

The double room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was also clean but suffered from a smell of damp which was due to the weak extractor fan and shower curtain unable to dry properly when bunched up. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a small selection of books for reading and a vending machine for drinks and snacks. The nearest shop is a short walk but nice to have options late at night.

We went on a two night family trip and stayed at the Premier Inn Merthyr Tydfil. My son went to a concert in Cardiff and this was an ideal location for Cardiff, the Brecon Beacons and seeing Barry Island. I phoned in advance to ask for an help in respect of our boys' needs and was overwhelmed by the empathy, kindness and helpfulness of the staff involved. They went over and above.

Very clean, very comfortable, very welcoming helpful staff. Good room size, great bed, very easy access to extra milk etc

Liza in the restaurant was fantastic with a wealth of knowledge on the surrounding area. Her family ties to the local mining industry and recollections of her grandfather place the town in a specific and realistic light which was something I felt very moving.

All staff gave excellent service but special mention goes to Beth for her restaurant service that made my dining experience a pleasure for this solo traveller after a very tiring walk up Pen y Fan.
